It was a warm day and Julie was pleased to be out of the house, enjoying the weather. The imp's long purple hair was let out and her slim frame was clad in a green dress, her birdlike feet bound up in neat little sandals she'd found at the Gambino Outfitters just the other day.
More than pleased to get out and enjoy her freedom, Julie was taking her time going home. So spotting a huge meadow of flowers in the park, the purple haired female was eager to rush over and pick a few. It couldn't hurt, right?

Miri lay down in the meadow, hiding in the flowers with her mask off and sitting beside her. The tops of the flowers rose over her head and hid her from view, as long as she lay still and quiet. her Mama knew where she was, and was keeping a subtle eye on her from where she stood taking care of the other children at the play area. Miri was glad that she wasn't being forced into playing on the equipment like the other kids - she liked to just ay on the ground and watch the flowers above her wave in the breeze.
Believingherself to be alone, the little girl started singing quietly to herself, in the bone-chillingly creepy voice she'd been born with. She didn't know that she sounded creepy, just that no-one liked to hear her sing - and she didn't know, either, that singing quietly made it all the more terrifying for the unsuspecting audience.
"Ring around a rosy... pocket full of posies... ashes... ashes... all fall down... Ring around a rosy, pocket full of posies..."

Julie jumped noticeably when the creepy singing started from seemingly no where. The purple haired child looked around frantically but couldn't seem to spot where the terrifying little kid voice was coming from, singing softly and completely invisible.
The flowers fell from her hands as she looked around slowly, shaking a bit. "Wh-who's there?" Julie called loudly, "Show yourself!" she stepped forward a little and wound up tripping over Miri's mask, screaming in surprise as she fell down. Oh god, whatever it was was gonna get her now!

Miri squeaked and stopped her singing when a girl crashed into her mask and fell with a thud into the flowers next to her. Gasping, the toddler scrambled for her mask, her shield form the world, and was about to pull it on when she noticed that the glass lenses that were the mask's eyes had gotten cracked in the other girl's fall.
Whimpering, she reached a hand over to touch the bigger girl - had she gotten dead in the fall? Why did she fall over? Miri knew she was a bad singer, but she thought she was being quiet enough not to bother anyone...
"I'm sorry... don't be dead."

Julie looked up blearily and yeeped again at the touch before noticing it was a kid. She wouldn't see very well but it was a person and not just a disembodied voice. "Why would I be dead? Unless that voice is out to kill me. But you're that voice so I hope I'm not dead?" she rambled a bit, trying to get ahold of herself.
The source of the noise identified, Julie sat up a bit and looked the other child over. Miri wasn't exactly 'pretty' or 'normal looking' by Julie's standards but the girl didn't find her hideous or that scary (she'd thankfully avoided movies with villains that were long haired utterly pale girls with creepy voices. Creepy voices on their own, that was another matter).
"Oh, hi there. I didn't see you, I thought there was just a voice after me. Are you okay? I didn't trip on you did I?"

Miri tilted her head and cuddled her mask to her with one arm, her crimson eyes filling with tears. The white-haired child brushed off her skirt, absentmindedly removing a ladybug from its current favorite perch - her knee - in the process. "You broke my mask," she said softly, sounding more sad than angry.

The child looked at Miri curiously for a moment before her eyes widened. "Oh! I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to break your mask." she said, reaching out to pat the other girl's shoulder, "Please don't cry? I'll help you fix it if you want?"
Thankfully for Julie, her mother was an artist. She'd have all sorts of stuff to fix that at home. "We can make your mask all better, don't worry."

"Really?" Miri asked, clutching her mask to her and sniffling timidly. "You promise? We can fix it?" she asked, red eyes gleaming as she freed one hand from her death-grip on her mask and reached up to touch the other girl's hand. "Can we go now?"

"Sure." Julie assured the other girl with a bright smile. Scared like this, Miri was just like any other little kid and she needed help. "We've just gotta let your Mommy or someone know where we're going so they can come too. It's bad to go into a stranger's house without telling your parents."
The girl thought for a moment, "Actually, it's bad to go into a stranger's house alone at all, but we're really just going to my door and your Mommy can come too so that won't be bad."

"Mama? Mama's busy," Miri said sadly, pointing back over the hill to wher eTish was being overrun by little girls and one little boy. "My brother and sis'ers keep her busy, maybe. . .. if we go quick Mama won' notice?" she said, tugging at her skirt a bit and tryign to dust it off.

Julie looked nervously up the hill. Would that really be okay? Well, maybe. "Are you sure you can't ask her?" she inquired, scratching the back of her head. "Or maybe you should just wait here and I'll run and get the glue and stuff and come back? Though it'd be better to do it on a table..." Gah! Why couldn't there be an adult around to tell her the proper decision?

Miri tilted her head and thought about it for a moment. "I'll go ask," she said after a moment, and then booked it over to her mother, waiting only for the nod in response to come back to the new girl. "Mama said it's okay, but was wants me to come back here when it's done." Pausing, the little plague doctor fidgeted with her skirt and stared up at the older girl, chewing thoughtfully on her lip. "Will that be okay?"

Well that was a relief! She didn't want Miri's Mama thinking she'd been run away with. That'd be bad! "Yes that's fine! My big brother can help us put it together." Julie assured the younger girl, taking her hand and leading her back towards the house. "He's good with glue and stuff."
The house, it seemed, was a ways away and over a small bridge, but not too far for a few little kids. Sitting in front of it was an older boy who looked like, well, a moose. A moose with glasses and a vest. Presently he was carving a piece of wood and chattering to a funny rainbow furred girl. Though he waved when Julie and Miri walked up.
"Hey there, brought a new friend?" he asked, smiling at them.

Mir tilted her head and tried to hide her face in her broken mask. "Is he a nice brovver?" she asked timidly, and nearly fell over when she saw... a moose? The girl's brother was a moose? Really? She wanted a moose for a brother! That would be so much fun, to have a brother who had antlers.

"He's very nice." Julie assured her, smiling as they came up and Phineas greeted them. "Hey Phin! This is Miri! I kinda broke her mask - can you help us fix it?"
The boy laughed, putting away the pocket knife he'd been carving with and standing up. "Hello Miri. It's nice to meet you. I'm Phineas." he said, holding out a large, lightly furred hand and smiling at her. He seemed like one of those nice guys you'd see in a library or helping little kids at the store.
