Isolde sat quietly atop a pile of rocks, running her small antlers lightly across the surface, sharpening her pretty horns. It had been a long, lonely couple of weeks for the female. No interaction with her own kind had left her down in the dumps, and for once she actually craved the company of another Shakaiyo, but up her in the mountains it was a rare sight to see a lone Shakaiyo.

With a sigh, the female plopped her head down on the rocks and attempted to take a nap, daydreaming about meeting another of her kind.

Gage swiped his paw at the ground. He was lost and was finally ready to admit it. A relaxing trip to the mountains had seemed like a good idea earlier. It was supposed to be a nice stress free time away from his family who was determined to see him mated to the first female he so much as looked twice at. They meant well, but frankly they were starting to aggravate him. If he wanted a fling he would have one, but if he wanted a mate he was sure going to make sure he knew her before it was decided.

Gage sighed and looked up to the heavens, hoping to guess his current location. The squirrel chase had taken him further up the mountains then he had intended to go. What had started out as a fun game of chase had turned out to be a giant pain in the rear. Then of course being macho he had to wonder off acting like he knew where he was. Of course it wasn't like he could ask the squirrel for directions after he scared it half to death and then chased him for a while. The thing probably would have lead him off a cliff or something.

'This isn't helping' Gage grumbled to himself. Maybe if he took a look around from somewhere higher up. Gage glanced around and found the perfect spot to look just a bit further up and started to climb.

Things had gone silent for a while, which had actually aided the female in her strange and lonely daydreams, which was a good thing, they were what made her the happiest, being in her perfect world, where she could do no wrong, or be nothing but herself.

The contented smile on still face would lead anyone to believe she was in a better place, but as much as she enjoyed her daydreams, she didn't want them to be daydreams, she wanted them to be her reality, and that just wasn't in the cards for her.

Sighing once again, the female jerked back to full attention as a minuscule amount of pebbles began falling from the cliff above her, not only was it startling and urgent that she move from under it, but it was curious in the same breath. Someone or something was up there.

Maybe this was that moment she'd been waiting for?

Taking a deep breath, and fluffing out her tail to the female quickly looked over her well groomed body before silently stalking the unknown creature on the cliff above.

As he climbed, Gage got a better view of the landscape. You could see for miles, which would be perfect if he was atcually aware of any landmarks that could help him. So much for not asking for directions. Gage chuckled to himself. At least he was not 'completely' lost anymore. He could see a stream running down the mountains and from his chase with the squirrel, he was aware of various food sources. He was not going to go hungrey here.

'Maybe it was fate bringing me here' Gage thought to himself. It seemed like the perfect spot to cast away your troubles and rest. The sun was shinning, warming the rocks below his paws. 'A nice place to rest' he thought. Just as Gage was preparing to lay down, his instincts kicked in. Something was off. He allowed his senses to override his conscious thought. Gage scanned his suroundings and listened very closely. Though he did not find anything out of the ordinary, his instincts told him he was not alone. Until he could determine whether it was prey or predator, friend or foe, he would have to keep his guard up.

Before the female could relax or pick up on whether the male would be safe to confront, she found her instincts kicking in as well and the hair on the back of her neck stood on end.

This male was definitely on his guard, and surely that meant she must be to. But as she took closer inspection on the male, she noticed a few things off about his demeanor, the way he had stood and overlooked the mountain suggested he wasn't from around here, but something else seemed strange.

Giving in to her more nurturing side, Isolde stepped silently out of the shadows and waved her tail in a sign of peace.

"No need to get testy, i'm not going to attack you or anything, you're just interesting to follow."

She smiled vaguely, but the smile quickly faded as she brought back her defensive nature, you could never be certain who to trust these days..

Gage quietly watched the newcomer for a minute. The female had beautiful markings and pretty eyes he swore that never missed anything. She even had antlers, a feature he had never seen in another shakaiyo before. One thing was for sure, this newcomer fascinated him.

He could tell she was far from defenseless by the way she carried herself. Not that he wanted to fight her anything, but being in her territory he did not want to come off simply as an aggressive male trying to take over this territory. Instinct told him she would keep her word and not attack him.

Gage lowered his guard and adopted what he hoped was an innocent smile. "I apologize, one can never be too careful. I am Gage, nice to meet you." He bowed ever so slightly.

Well he seemed innocent enough, and very polite to boot, but was that really enough to go off of when putting your life on the line?

The female quickly shrugged off the thought and looked up at the male, catching hold of his beautiful green eyes as she did so, they mesmerized her, and immediately a smile played across her shy face.

"I-Isolde."

She mumbled as he continued to stare at the male, he was a sight for sore eyes, though whether it was his good looks, or her lack of interaction with other Shakaiyo that was talking, she might never know.

Dipping her head lightly in response, Isolde spoke up once again, this time with more confidence and interest in her low voice.

"You don't seem to be too comfortable here - are you from somewhere else?"

If he wasn't mistaken, Isolde meant 'fair lady.' But fair did not do her justice according to Gage. He lacked the words to describe how beautiful she was. Apparently his brain had taken off because it took him a moment for her other words to register.

Forcing his to stop wandering he tried to think of a response that would not make him seem lowly for having gotten himself lost in the mountains. The last thing he wanted was to be seen as weak in her eyes.

'I live in the land near the mountain base, but this is my first trip up the mountains.' He paused a moment before he added 'And you Isolde? If I had to guess, I'd say based on how graceful you are up here, you are perfectly at home in the mountains.' Gage smiled.

There was something about this male, but oddly enough she just couldn't place her paw directly on it, but none the less he seemed friendly enough, and what Isolde needed most was a friend.

The female smiled a bit broader than she had in the past and pawed at the ground in a very awkward motion.

"I've actually lived here for as long as I can remember, I thought you seemed a little out of place I guess I was right about that."

Isolde giggled lightly and looked up from her awkward ground pawing.

"If you'd like I could give you the grand tour-"

She paused for a moment, and grew incredibly nervous at her last words, maybe he'd think she was some crazy Shakaiyo and didn't want anything to do with her! She had to save the situation!

"O-of course it's just a whole bunch of rocks, so I completely understand if that sorta thing doesn't interest you.."
