Ryuu Zu tried his best not to breath heavily, but it was intimidating meeting Jia Li's father for the first time. He wasn't sure what to expect only knew that Jia had given him instructions to follow in order to find him and to distinguish him from her brothers. The idea of brothers really didn't make this any easier, especially given how shy and resereved Ryuu usually was.

He stopped, closed his eyes and felt the power of the trapped dragon within him. Strength. Energy. It was enough to calm his soul. Once again focused on finding Raksh he continued.

It didn't take long to find him, he seemed to be with his mate -and Jia's mother, and something about that scene calmed his soul and made it feel more natural.

He lowered his head in a gentle bow to show them he meant no harm, he had no idea if Jia had warned them he would be coming so he decided not to risk it. He was no threat her. Softly he spoke, "My name is Ryuu Zu." He smiled a little, once again trying to calm himself. "I would like permission to court your beautiful daughter Jia Li." It felt good to finally say the words out load, the dragon within him sprawled out happily within him.

Raksh's ears perked up at the sound of distant hoofbeats. He stood from where he was laying under the shade of a tree and looked toward the figure of what appeared to be a stallion approaching him and Ju.

"Stay here," he said to his mate.

He walked out to meet the stallion and kept his guard up. He had no idea who this was or what his intentions were. As he got closer, he lowered his head slightly to show that he meant no harm and that it was safe to approach. There was no reason for hostility and suspicion upon a first meeting. If it turned out that this stranger was indeed a threat, he could leap into action in a second. When the stallion finally approached him and spoke, he didn't quite know what to say. This stranger had approached him from nowhere and was inquiring about his daughter, who he hadn't seen in quite some time.

"I'm sorry, I don't quite know what to say. I might need a moment. Please, come this way, I will introduce you to my mate. My name is Raksh, by the way."

He led the way back to the tree where Ju laid on the cool ground. Before they approached, he stopped and turned back to Ryuu Zuu.

"Before we speak to her, I must warn you, Ju is unpredictable. She may seem polite and friendly at one moment, and hostile and furious the next. Please don't take it personally. I will try my best to calm her."

She rose to her feet as the two stallions approached. Raksh nodded at her to assure her that all was well. He just hoped she didn't have one of her episodes in front of their daughter's potential mate.

"Ju, this is Ryuu Zuu, a friend of Jia Li's. Ryuu Zuu, this is my mate, Ju."

For the time being, he left out the bit about the stallion wanting to court Jia Li. There was no telling how Ju would react.

The bangles around Ju's ankles jingled and clinked together as she rose, her long thick tail falling to the ground. She looked at this newcomer and bowed her head lightly. It was slightly strange to see this friend of Jia Li's without Jia Li there. Was there something wrong?

"If you are Jia Li's friend, then where is Jia Li?"

"As you wish." Had been the only words Ryuu had spoke when Jai's father, Raksh, asked him to follow. The dragon hidden within him wriggled uncomfortable as if it was being attacked by butterflies, butterflies that threaten to cause him to stop and shake from his nerves. Thankfully with all his meditation and training he had become pretty good at consealing his emotions from his face unless they where needed. His eyes often told the truth of his thoughts.

There was however one thing he couldn't deny. The stallion before him was impressive and regal looking, he could tell instantly where Jia got it from. Yet he found himself suprised at the words spoken about her mother Ju, and instantly made a note to himself to be careful around her -mainly because he did not wish to cause her any stress. He nodded his acknowlegdment to Raksh feeling that no words where needed, he was sure that it had taken a lot for him to tell a stranger -for that was what Ryuu currently was- something so intimate about his mate. His trust did not go unnoticed, and it actually helped to calm Ryuu.

As they approched Ju, Ryuu did a quick and unobvious scan of the area through the corners of his eyes and also took in the beauty of the mare before him. She was much older than Jia but her elegance could also been seen by a single look. It seemed the whole family appeared regal and well breed- the idea made Ryuu cower, he was nothing but a travel who had to meditate a lot to control the beast that the sharman's trapped within him... but even then it sometimes surfaced when his emotions grew too high.

Forcing himself not to thing about the consequences of the dragon's appearance he bowed poiletly to Zu before speaking. It was clear from Ju's tone and expersion that she had assumed he was the bearer of bad news -and perhaps he was, just a different kind to what she currently suspected. "Jia LI is fine." He offered her a smile hoping it would reassure her and show her he was being honest, "last time I saw her she was swimming in the lake not too far from here." The memory brought a smile to his face, even in the water she was liquid elegance. Every movement seemed to be a dance designed just for him. She had enchanted him. Unsure why Raksh had not mentioned his request he decided to try and be diplomatic- he wanted to stay in everyone's good side. "The reason for my visit..." he paused for the briefest of moment deciding how to say it -he didn't want them to think he was trying to control their daughter. Afterall he respected Jia Li and wanted nothing more than to see her happy. He just hoped that he would be able to do such a thing. "...is to show you that I love your daughter." he had never simply expected her father to say 'yes you can court my daughter' although it would have made things a lot easier, he was willing to fight for his right to claim her as his mate one day. And this was first test in his eyes, proving his worth to her parents -and it now seemed- ensuring he came off as a gentleman and not just some stalker. He didn't wish to enrage them.

Ju was taken aback for a moment. She had not expected this at all. Here was this complete stranger saying things about loving her daughter. And her daughter was nowhere to be seen. She giggled a little bit.
"Well, if you love her so much, why is she not with you? Surely she should be by your side while you come to ask permission to court her - which I assume is why you're here."
She chuckled to herself again and looked away from the golden stallion. She wasn't going to give in until she saw her daughter. After all, it had been too long since she had seen her, and she should definitely be here at this time. She swished her tail behind her and sighed, idly kicking at the dirt at her feet.

He had been afraid of this. He had held off on telling Ju why Ryuu Zu was here for this very reason. He had intended on breaking it to her more slowly, but apparently Ryuu Zu had other plans. He watched Ju closely, reading her movements. He knew her better than anybody, and could anticipate her moves. He was worried that she might scare off Ryuu Zu, and he didn't want that. For the time being, he would let he talk, but he would be able to step in if she got into one of her moods.
"Well, if Ryuu Zu is right in saying that she's swimming nearby, we could all go and see her. I must admit, its been a very long time and I would love to see my daughter again."

Ryuu looked at Jai's mother and bowed his head a little to hide the smile that was daring to spread itself across his lips. He could see the logic behind her words and wondered why he had offered to do this alone afterall. Coughing a little to clear his throat he looked up at her. "With respect," he started, "in my family it is tradition for the stallion to ask permission of his potential mates parents alone. A transition of sorts...." he looked to Jai's father, "...however, I would be more than happy to lead you to where I left Jia Li swimming if you wish it so. I did not realise it had been so long since you last spent time with your daughter."

He turned softly, looking over his shoulder to look at Ju and Rasksh once more, "This way then." He said as he started to lead them to the river and with any luck their daughter.

It had been a warm day so the lure of a dip in the cool lake waters had been unbelievably tempting. She had been under the assumption that Ryuu Zu would be joining her, however, he seemed to have vanished. She took in a calming breath as she scanned the horizon for her companion. There was still no sign of him. Where exactly had he gotten off to?

Fighting back every unpleasant thought that threatened to ruin her day Jia Li went back to slowly paddling her way through the water. Unlike when she had first gotten in, however, she was now heading towards the shore. The water had felt wonderful but it was now time to dry off under the sun's warmth. It wasn't long before the slippery bottom of the lake was felt under her hooves. The ground made progress faster and before too much time had passed she was standing on the banks and shaking herself off lightly.

Ryuu lead Jai's parents to the place he had hoped to return to swiftly in an effort to spend the morning with the mare he had chosen for him own. He hadn't expected his request to be questioned so much, and had to admit he was embarassed about his shortcomings.

As they approached he called out to Jai, not wanting her to be taken completely off guard. He hoped there wasn't a reason she hadn't seen her parents in so long, hoped that he was inviting trouble and discomfort for her -for that was the last thing Ryuu had wanted to do. He had simply wanted to do things the right way, to claim Jai Li as his lifemate in the way he would hope his own children would one day do for their future mates. "Jai Li? Are you here still?" The trees gave way as he continued to walk to reveal a beautiful golden mare with a pelt similar to her parents. It took his breath away. Her hair waved around her sending a mist of water droplets all around her. Absolutly stunning.

He stopped dead in his tracks, simply taking in the beauty of her.
