It was beginning to get dark out, Phantes favorite time of the day. When his grey coat could hide him better within the shadows. Being a thief took a great deal of work, one could not always walk into a place without first scoping it out for some time, finding patterns of guard patrols, when the wolves came back to their dens and other such information that would help him with his job. Sometimes he used his darker pelt and nighttime cover to complete the job itself, sneaking in and out undetected. Tonight however was not a night to complete a job, nor was he scoping out his next big hit. Instead he had decided to take the night off, for he had been working himself hard lately an deserved a break.

His stolen treasures were hidden away in a safe spot for now, though he would need to move them soon enough. One could never leave precious items in one spot for too long lest they be taken away by another thief. Wouldn't that be a kick in the pants. Steal an object and then have it stolen away from him during his next job. Giving his head a shake Phantes let out a chuckle. "Not gonna let that happen." He said to himself quietly while stretching out in the soft dirt, a yawn escaped him as he laid there. It was good to have a night off every now and then.

The night was falling, she watched idly as her pelt began to almost disappear into the darkness that swallowed the area during this time. She admired the small light the moon produced, cloud cover was her friend, she avoided being captured while sneaking out this way.

She basically tip-toed from her den, avoiding patrols and worst of all her alphas/parents. She sighed, relieved to be free for a night, free to relax in her own space. She'd been watched like an ill dog for the last long while and barely got out when she wanted to.

"Freedom!" She barked loud enough to keep herself aware, but quiet enough for the pack to ignore. Her sigh turned to a yawn and she flopped to her side in brush below a tree and rolled onto her back, flowers nearby were her favorite, she admired their beauty and scents often, they were just scented strongly enough for her to smell, not to be hurt.

It wasn't long before the smell of freshly moved dirt moved in on her nose, freshly moved dirt meant a couple of things. Rodents, which meant food, larger animals that could hurt or kill her, or another wolf making a make shift den. Not enjoying being in a haze of curiosity she got up and stood where she could see most everything.

A soft rustle here, a crunch there, it didn't take Phantes long to realize he wasn't quite alone. A little company might be nice on a night like this, as long as whoever was out there was a pretty female. Phantes had no desire to fight off a wolf he had stolen from previously. Getting to his feet quickly Phantes gave his dark fur a shake, ridding it of any dirt that may have clung to it. A handsome fellow like himself couldn't be seen running around all dirty now could he. Eyes roamed the bushes and trees for whoever was out there.

She had been hard to spot at first, her fur mostly a grey like his own, but those few light spots ended up giving her away. Well hello there, he thought as he looked upon the female. This night just got a little bit better. Standing tall and proud, Phantes smiled charmingly at the female. "Well good evening good looking." He said with a wink, though he wasn't sure if she would see it. "It is a beautiful night is it not?"

She hadn't realized how much noise she had really been making until she'd been spotted. "Good looking?" She gave him a quizzical look. Her eye's narrowed slightly and an eyebrow raised. "Yes it is beautiful! Who are you?" She asked, gracefully slipping into a question needing an answer.

Her body shifted, her back was no longer a suitable way to lay, so she propped herself up and slid into a sitting position, less comfortable and unfortunate on her night away, but being attacked would be even less unfortunate. Her head tilts to follow her question and she becomes strictly silenced.

"I am Phantes." He introduced himself with a slight dip of his head. He may be a thief at heart but he knew how to treat a lady right, especially when she was as beautiful as the one he looked upon now. "And I hope you are willing to grace me with your name." He gave her a smile, genuine and friendly. "Are you from around here or just passing through?" Not wanting to let the conversation come to a dead stop should she only give him her name and nothing else. It had been a while since he was graced with some good company, he had spent some time with another thief or two recently but honestly they weren't the most pleasant to be around.

"Tempest, my name is Tempest.. but you, handsome fellow, may call me Tempy." She batted her eye's, flirting willingly. A he-wolf, out in the woods, at thsi tiem of night who turned out to be good company so far. What luck! She smiled admiring him from her seated position.

"I'm from not to far from here actually. Daughter to Menelaus and Chivosi, Alphas of 'Y-M-C-A'." She smiles proudly, head raising in a definite pride and eye's glittering. "How about you Phantes, where do your paws take you from? Somewhere close?" She asks, standing and closing the distance between them to get a better scent, she wasn't weak and didn't fear the male, he gave no bad vibes.

Tempest, it was an interesting name, it certainly intrigued him. Giving her a wider smile now as she called him a handsome fellow Phantes was beginning to think he was dreaming as things were already turning out so well with this female. "A beautiful name for a beautiful female." Phantes lowered himself down as she came closer to him, his tail gently touches her as if on accident. He was a lucky man tonight, here he thought he was just going to have a chance to talk to a female, and now here he was staring at this beautiful daughter of an Alpha who was clearly flirting with him.

"Daughter of Alpha's huh? It is no wonder you carry yourself with such pride Tempy." He stretched his back muscles for a moment as he glanced off in the direction he had come, then returned his gaze to her. "My paws have brought me here from a land very far away. I have no pack to call my own, but perhaps some day I will." He gave her another smile. The years of travel and thievery had been welcoming for some time, but Phantes knew he would eventually want to find a pack, a mate and settle down, perhaps even have a family.

She brought her maw into her chest and gazed up at him, a clear sign of blushing that was only backed up with a gentle giggle. She felt herself click to the moment, this wolf made her comfortable and instantly happy, she didn't skip ahead, but knew her heart was taking her down a hefty road. "Pride is certainly in my blood! And perhaps.. you'd consider coming home with me some day?" She knew a travelers way.

She sighed to herself softly, eying their tails, she had let hers rest with his in a sign of immediate liking and let their aromas mix pleasantly making her nose twitch and her body instinctively move closer to his. She had no thought to think her actions through and let her nose dip into his chest for something of a wolfish hug. She heaved in a deep breath.

"Stranger Phantes. Far traveler of where ever you roamed, what is it about you this evening, the moon has aligned to bring us together?" She asked faintly, her voice a rhythmic mimic of his heart, slow and strong. She admired the sound a moment longer before looking for the males eye's. Did he feel it too?

"Pride can't be the only thing that runs in your blood dear Tempy, for beauty is surely in there as well." Phantes found it so awe inspiring that she was blushing at this simple exchange of words they were having. "I would be honored if you would take me to your home one day." He told her, sitting up a bit straighter at this. It was a pleasant break from the company he usually ran into while traveling.

His chin rubbed against the top of her head as her nose touched his chest. Phantes was feeling so drawn to this female, and they had only just met. Surely this was a sign that he shouldn't ignore. He may not have felt he was ready to settle down before this night, but now he was beginning to think that was a really good idea. Those words that she spoke seemed to mimic exactly what he was feeling in his heart.

"Oh beautiful Tempy, I do believe that the fates have smiled upon us this night. For in all my travels I have never met a wolf like you." He smiled at her and then without truly thinking about it, gently licked her cheek. "Be it gods, moons or fates, whoever caused us to meet I feel eternally grateful to them."

Her heart skipped a few beats, a weird feeling, an exotic feeling. A feeling she loved and knew would never escape her hearts hold, not til life itself ended and even then she wondered if it would ever leave. Hearing his words, feeling his chin, his small comments, comments she'd never heard from anyone before. Her first experience with love, her first male to go to with a fond tail wag.

Signs were hard to ignore, when they were so blatant who would want to ignore! She was all smiles, all grins and eye's glittering she couldn't look away from her new found friend. She didn't quite know what to call him. So she explained her story, the story of her parents, the story she wanted of er own life.

"My parents, have something so beautiful. So precious and even fragile, but strong like a thick wood through the tough times. They share burdens, share laughs, tears and are there for each other. Eventually they gave birth to my brothers, sister and I." She stopped, tears spilling to her eye's and falling down the cheeks of her pelt. She cursed herself for thinking of the leaving, thinking of the bad times. "The times are bad now.. weak now and still they hold strong. It's what I think makes them the alphas they truly are." She nods slowly and stares at the ground.

"I want that. I want the bond, the share of burdens, love, tears, a family to love and teach as they grow before my very eye's!' She startled herself through her expression, she wasn't one to be very honest, not one to share, but she was being foolish and spilling so much out all at once, spilling why she was the way she was, why she had wanted to be close in truth, but she was being honest and she felt deep in her heart that being honest was what she needed.

"Do you understand..?" She asked. "You give that to me, without my knowing a thing about you. As if what I needed walked in off a carcass to spread the feast." She smiled warmly and stretched her jaw before letting her tongue loll out, her eye's went back to the ground. She was still learning how relationships worked. She didn't realize that spitting all that out could possibly ruin it. She was young.

Phantes could feel his heart beating wildly in his chest. He never wanted to let her out of his sights for fear he would lose her. It was a somewhat odd feeling for Phantes was not an overly attached wolf, but things seemed to be different around her, and he liked that. As she spoke he listened to her carefully not wanting to miss a single word. Her voice was both happy and sorrowful at the same time, it pulled on his heart. Phantes wasn't an overly emotional wolf, but when he saw the tears roll down her cheek he felt an odd lump form in his throat.

Unable to speak for a moment he did the only thing he could think of, and that was to lick those tears away and nuzzle her softly. Once he knew he could talk without his voice cracking he spoke. "To share something like what your parents have is a true gift. Not all pairings can endure sadness and hardships." He may not know the extent of her what she or her parents were going through but knew of many wolves who fell apart due to one circumstance or another and never found happiness again. "A bond like that is rare indeed, something that should be cherished." He pulled his head back, only so that he could look into her eyes fully. "It is something that I think you should have."

He smiled at her again, it was a soft smile, one that showed he wasn't just flirting with her heart and would leave her sad and lonely in the morning. "Some burdens are harder to share than others, but I think if anyone can endure such things it is you." To say such a thing about one whom he just meant showed how deep their bond already was. He barely knew her and yet at the same time felt that they had been together their entire lives. "I want to give you whatever you wish to have my dear Tempy"

His tongue was comforting, something no one had ever done for her. She remembered her Father speaking fondly and warmly of her Mother on their travels, mentioning her every night on his bed, speaking slowly as if her Mother was a distant memory he missed dearly. Now a days he was better, enjoying his time again rather then being burdened with an invisible feat he had yet to climb and demolish.

She watched Phantes reactions, shocked as he accepted her and pleased, more pleased then she imagined this would make her. "Something.. I should have?" She said slowly. "You really think that?" She asked slowly, bravery slipping, shame gone and happiness obvious. She was nuzzled up nice and close, the chill that usually set in would have to find a new home tonight.

"Stay here with me.. give me a family Phantes. Make this territory a home with me!' She proclaimed in a shaky, unsure voice. She didn't want to scare him, but ken what she'd like.

"I truly think so yes." He said with a nod of his head, and never before had Phantes been so confident about anything outside of well planned job. Her closeness warmed his heart and body, dipping his head down he nuzzled her closer. This night had certainly taken a turn for the better, and it would take a lot for him to leave. Of course from her words it sounded like she didn't want him to leave and that suited him just fine.

Of course had those words come from any other wolf in any other situation he would have thought they were rushing things. But everything about her felt so right, he couldn't let her go, for he knew doing so would be the biggest mistake of his life. "I'll stay." He whispered in her ear softly. "For as long as I have life in me I will stay with you." He rubbed his head against hers lovingly. "And we shall make a family of our own, my love."

"A family!" She pitched into his words with enthusiasm. "You should meet my parents!" She said, her voice beckoning him to follow her into her packs lands. The territory which was minutes away from her sleeping area, her den was empty for the night, perhaps not for long, she'd surly invite him there to sleep for the night then introduce her family in the morning.

"Will you come to my den.. take refuge there for the night, we have food and water and we'll have each other." She smiled sweetly, her voice lower and loving, a drop of seduction taking hold and her eye's sparkle happily.

Her enthusiasm was quite infectious to him and he felt himself eager to head to wherever she wished to take him. "Of course, I should like to meet your parents. Thank them for bringing such a beautiful and intriguing wolf into the world." At her next words Phantes smiled deviously. Did she even need to ask if he would come to her den? Of course not, but it was a nice gesture nonetheless.

Standing he gave his muscles a stretch and then looked at her smiling. "Lead the way." He nipped playfully at her ear as he waited for her to take him to her home, her pack and to his future. He would follow her just about anywhere right now.
