Terreis kept up a brisk pace as she followed along the packs border on yet another border check. How many times had she checked it this week? Certainly at least twice as often as she needed to, maybe more, it was hard to keep track some days. Her favorite route was the northern border as it brought her closest to her old pack. Terreis gave her head a shake as she ran, Antianeira wasn't exactly her old pack, as far as she was concerned she was still a member of the sisterhood, just lived with her mate down here. Maybe she should go and pay them a visit.
Sighing she decided against this. She needed to stick around, finish her duties and at least continue to put an effort into all of this. Things were slowly becoming easy on her. She could tolerate the presence of her sons a bit more now, especially if Derecho was around. Of course opening up to other pack members was still pretty low on her priority list, she kept to herself for the most part. Terreis pushed all these thoughts to the back of her mind as she came to a stop at the river. A quick drink and she would be on her way again. Lowering her head Terreis began to lap up the water though her ears and body were alert to any and all sounds - another of those habits that was hard to drop given her years of training.

Proud, graceful, responsible. All great traits of a great leader, Menelaus is a has been of those traits. He is still proud and graceful, still responsible, but his mind has kept him swept away, trapped. He was wandering today, alone as per the norm and angry. He had Aleutians voice strong in his mind, as if her sweet voice had burned a crisp, clean hole in his mind. He hated what she had said to him, the question she had asked, such a horrible question.
"But she is in her rights to ask it, and even more so to get an honest answer." He let his head drop a bit and his ears flick back, he smelled the female before seeing her. A familiar yet unfamiliar scent, teh scent that drenched his Grandchildren. He had yet to meet their mother and surly now seemed to be the best time as any. he hit a crest and soon was peering over it.
His grace hit home, tail hitting high and head up, ears forward and body as strong looking as possible, he still carried a limp and a distraught look in his eye's, as if half insane. He eyed the wolfess slowly, he recognized her markings, they covered most of his Grandsons. "Hi there Terreis." He made sure to know the names, learn them and remember them, she deserved that respect as a Mother of pups into this family.
"Regular border checks?" He asks politely.

Terreis heard Menelaus approaching before he spoke. He was not as loud as Derecho was but still gave himself away well before he should, unless he was deliberately trying to announce himself in such a manner. Finishing her drink Terreis lifted her head, licking the droplets of water that clung to her fur. Males! It was the first thing that came to her mind as her eyes fell upon the Alpha. She couldn't go anywhere in the pack without running into at least one.
Taking a step away from the river Terreis met Menelaus with a neutral expression on her face. If he thought she would show him the proper respect he deserved because he was an Alpha then he was barking up the wrong tree. "Menelaus." Her tone wasn't cold, but certainly not welcoming either. After all she had promised Derecho that she would try to be better around their pups, nothing about the other pack members. "Yes, nothing out here." Except for some washed up Alpha, she thought but for some reason or another did not voice that opinion - yet.

He snorted his annoyance at her tone, but kept on smiling. "You patrol a lot, why not stay with your mate?" He offered, she seemed so keen to be out, away from her family, why? He groaned to himself as the thoughts brought his own miserable memory back to haunt him and he immediately regretted his words. What wolf was he to tell or offer that to another.
Menelaus's eye's diverted to the river, not to let anyone get the wrong idea, he was definitely watching the person he was speaking too and had an ear out. He was far from not paying attention. "There will be a hunt soon, should i expect to see you there?" He offered a way out of what coudl become a long yelling match about his Fathering, not that her parenting was any better.

Why not stay with her mate? What kind of a question was that. Derecho did patrols as well, why should she get tongue lashed for doing the same thing. "You wish for me to stay at the dens like a good little female, leaving all the work to the males?" Terreis knew that wasn't exactly what he meant but with her upbringing that's what came to mind with those words. "Derecho does patrols as well you know, as do several others. I just happen to do it more often."
What she wouldn't do to be able to put him in his place, show him she wasn't some push over like some of the other members, but no, she was trying to not start a fight. "Of course I'll be there." However she might change her mind based upon how this conversation turned out. Terreis did not wish to hunt along side a wolf who she disliked, but so far she was reserving her judgment of Menelaus - though what Derecho had told her previously was fresh in her mind.

"Spicey tongue." He lashed out slightly, mumbling the retort under his breath, he was displeased with Derecho's choice of mate, but he said nothing. Menelaus was bull-headed and left the approval to Chivosi on most cases like this, he wondered how she felt about this 'wonderful' female. He felt the need to roll his eye's as he thought this, but he was more grown up then that. "Well now, yes that is true. He does do patrols as well. I can take your patrol from here, I've nothing else to do right now anyway."
He offered this sincerely, meaning no harm, no start to a quarrel, but e saw the fire in the eye's of this foul woman. He was already tired of talking to her. She was young, blind and appeared silly to Menelaus, he barely put anyone down, but she was defending herself, where she didn't need to defend, but he knew better then to point out something like that.

See this was exactly why she avoided all the other pack members, none seemed to keen to have her around. Maybe she should just leave, let them go back to their peaceful little lives before she came along. But no, to do that would give them what they wanted, for her to go away. She would stay, let them suffer in her presence if they must - at least until she was given a reason to actually leave. Should that ever happen she knew she still had her life from Antianeira to return to.
So he wanted to take over her duty? What would a lame wolf like him be wanting to do border patrols for him. "If you must." She replied simply and turned to walk away. Terreis stopped a few steps later, turning she looked back at the Alpha. "But tell me, why don't you stay with your mate? Surely she would like to have you at the dens with her."

"Touchy subject, young one." He murmured, nipping his tongue sharply as a course of anger fumed through him. For a moment he admired the wolfs idea of barging a question like that in the doorway to his mind, but that moment passed quickly and his eye's became cold. "You have no place to ask the Alpha this. She knows where I am and that I need my space to think more clearly. Something your generation doesn't seem to grasp." he growled a moments warning.
He found himself staring outside his body, how quick eh was to snap at a new comer, the pack, known for accepting everyone had an Alpha with little anger control, a matter he'd learn to deal with and avoid, but for now this wolfess was sourly finding ways to dig into him.
"Go on, get outta here, go to Derecho and your boys. They're young and need their Mother." He shrugged off her question, the topic and her all in one go. Being a Mother was supposed to be an honor, when had it become a burden. He wondered this as he began to walk away from the splotchy female.

"And Derecho knows where I am. Maybe I need space to think clearly as well." She retorted, knowing that indeed that was the case for most of her constant border checks. Terreis needed time alone to think, to slowly adjust to life as a mother of five boys. Her eyes narrowed as she looked at him. Clamping her jaw shut Terreis did her best to hold back the next comment that threatened to come out. She almost manged to keep it back as he walked away, but that last thing he said about the pups needing their mother broke her silence.
"Like Derecho and Aleu needed you when they were younger?" She called out after him. Terreis knew that she wasn't always there for her sons but at least she was here, not off who knows where dragging along two young pups only to return them as shells of their former selves. Now, admittedly Terreis had never seen either Tempest or Raiden when they had been younger and well for that matter had never spoke with them since she joined the pack. But Derecho had told her all about it, so she felt confident that she knew enough to hold up her end of this argument.

Menelaus nodded slowly, accepting her statement. He ignored the tension in her jaw, the cold stare he was now receiving, he was alpha and deserved none of this, but this she-wolf had one thing on her side. Knowledge, Derecho had told her everything. He growled sorely and glared hard at the company he'd run into.
"How dare you!?" He was in fury now, he felt his pelt raise as his hackles tensed up. His eye's narrowed and for a brief moment he pondered slaughtering her right there. How dare she say such things! "You have no right to comment on my family, what happened happened. I had no control over that situation, you dirty wolf." His lips were pulled back in the snarl that had saved him a great many times.
He kept up his show, but he personally knew how weak he was, or had Derecho told her all that too! Menelaus was outraged! His own son making him weak. How dare his blood do that?! He knew deep down it was Derecho's plea, something he needed off his chest, but still. Menelaus growled again lowly. "Leave now female. Whether it be to my Son or off my territory, but leave." He began relaxing himself forcefully, swallowing the pain, hurt and anger.

Terreis stood her ground as he growled at her. No male ever dismissed her in such a way before and she wasn't about to let it start now. Did he just call her a dirty wolf? "Their my family now too whether you like it or not." She retorted, anger clearly filling her voice. "No control over the fact that you dragged two of your children gods only know where to return an absolute wreck?"
Her brow quirked at his snarl. What did he think she would be scared off by that little display. "Are you threatening me Alpha Menelaus?" If he truly wished to fight then Terreis would be more than happy to oblige, but she would not make the first move, as much as she wanted to. Doing that would only create a rift between her and Derecho that would not be easily mended. But if Menelaus were to attack her Terreis would have no choice but to defend herself, which hopefully Derecho would accept. "I will leave when I wish, this is my pack as well, I have the right to be here."

Menelaus, gathering his strength pulled himself together as best he could. He glared at her angrily and gnawed at his tongue keeping it steady. The silence permitted him to choose his words more wisely.
"As Alpha, whether you like it or not, I rule these lands. I do not speak on behalf of my mate, but for my wolves, my family and the boy you fight with all the time so I've heard. Why he tells you such personal information I don't understand. You're not the kind we enjoy around here usually." He gave a gruff kinda bark and felt his stomach grumble.
"Go and do whatever you want, you symbolize the chaos that has begun to invade my home, she-wolf. I'll be meeting with your family at some point, my son wants it. And they're my grandsons." He began to walk away again, his face drawn and exhausted. He wasn't good at swallowing such harsh emotions.
He wished for his mate, for her comfort, but knew he had to take care of this on his own.

"So Derecho and I fight every now and then, that can happen in any relationship." She retorted, not that happy that he was pointing such a thing out to her. She knew very well that they fought over anything and everything it seemed but sometimes that was only because they both wanted the best for their family. "As for why he tells me such personal information, that is what mates do. They share their deepest darkest secrets with the ones they love." Her lip twitched ever so slightly in her attempt to hold back a snarl. "Maybe you should try it sometime with your mate."
Symbolize chaos? Oh was she disrupting their perfect little world here? What a darn shame. "Invade your home with my chaos. Ha! If anything I have brought some structure to the chaos you left behind. When I got here all I saw were a bunch of lazy wolves who were too shy to ever check the border of their own damn pack. I have picked up the slack for them by doing those duties and you think I bring chaos." She gave her head a shake. "If my being here has brought so much chaos to your pack then why is it that your mate chose to make an alliance with my old pack to help protect your asses in a time of need. Would that not bring utter chaos to your perfect world if a bunch of females like myself showed up to protect you when you needed it more. Or are you too proud to let that happen?"

"How many times, female, must I tell you to go!" He growled and stepped towards her, forcefully placing his paws in a fighting stance, he wouldn't hesitate to bite her now, attack her. He'd never take a life, but warnings would need to be made to keep this little b***h in line. He wasn't for women being treated any less, but this particular woman thought she was better then him, he wouldn't argue that he was better then her, but she had no right to attack him for his flaws.
"Now get out of my sight, I don't care what you do." He snarled again, teeth bared, beautiful pearly white daggers waiting to plunge into her flesh, tear at her pelt and show her what a man can do, what her alpha could do. The pain Menelaus felt before was replaced with pure adrenaline, he no longer felt exhausted, no longer limped when he moved. This woman brought the worst of him out and it displeased him, but he'd defend himself indefinitely.

"My name is Terreis, not female." She snorted, but otherwise made no move as he took a fighting stance. So badly did she want to fight him, kick his a** and put him in his place. In fact the look on her face was a very unimpressed expression. But she would not attack him, not because she thought he would best her in battle, no she was quite confident she could beat him, but she did not wish to anger Derecho. And surely fighting his father would do just that.
"As you wish oh mighty Alpha of mine." Terreis gave him a mock bow, her voice dripping with hatred and sarcasm. Taking a few quick steps, Terreis got up speed quickly and leaped across the river. It wasn't overly wide here, but certainly a good distance to jump even for her. Her tail touched the water ever so slightly as she landing. Glancing back, she gave Menelaus one last look, there was no way he could jump that far if he did wish to continue this. With the encounter over for now, Terreis turned and trotted off, tail held high and defiantly.
