For this RP, the Flock did not move to their current location yet. This is taking place in the first place they settled in, after the first Hunt (that was RPed out).

To make things easier, it is presumed that Aviania, Zahraa' and Celaeno knows the following:
  • Their only oracle (Aylin) did not follow the Flock's move because she felt that the Spirits/Great Mother wanted her to stay behind
  • The fact that their current territory is occupied by another herd and that herd wants them out
  • The fact that the other herd outnumbers them and have allies to rely on (this was found out by spying on them)
  • Signs of some of the younger sisters being corrupted by the "outside world"
  • Aviania sensing unrest among the spirits -> Knowledge exclusive to only the Commanders in an attempt to not stir up unrest among the Flock members

Also, this is what Aviania gathered them to talk about in this RP:
  • If the Flock should move or stay and fight - Aviania wants to move for various reasons, but she wants to hear them out first
  • If one of the Commanders should be sent back to talk to the oracle to maintain contact, or if the Queen should go herself since she would understand the spirits more (in this case, the Commanders will have to take charge of the Flock for the time she's gone)
  • To ask if there is anything they would like to report to her

If you are unsure about anything, just poke me on AIM/in thread/via PMs and I'll try to reply ASAP!

The afternoon sun beat down relentlessly, but the trees provided her with shade as Aviania sat comfortably in her nest, legs folded neatly under her body. She closed her eyes, and although she looked at peace, she was actually deep in thought; the Spirits were getting restless, and without her Oracle by her side, their messages were getting lost in translation... It would be vital to get someone to go meet with Aylin soon, although Aviania would very much love to go meet up with her personally; there are so many questions to ask, after all, and although she trusts her Commanders, she wouldn't feel completely at ease unless she asks those questions and hear the answers herself.

Opening her eyes, the Queen sighed softly as she stood up, stretching herself before moving to the edge of her nest. With her front talons gripping onto the rim of her nest, golden eyes scanned the area around her. A proud smile tugged at the edges of her lips as she saw her sisters busy with reconstructing the Flock and trying to restore it to its former glory - nests were being built, and areas being cleared for future use as storage spaces... It was exciting to see it all come together.

Why then, does she feel uneasy? Is it because they might have to fight for this place? Is it because they will have to leave this place anyway and the reconstruction will all be for nothing?

Opening her mouth, she started to sing a tuneless melody, loud enough to travel to the fringes of the Flock's territory and maybe even beyond; her voice was sweet, like that of a songbird, and the melody itself was hauntingly beautiful. While most passing Soquili might take it as the call of a regular bird, to the two Commanders, it was a request - a command - for them to join her at her throne. It only sounded sweet because Aviania was fond of her two Commanders. For the rest of the Flock, the song was a warning for them to stay away from her throne for the rest of the afternoon, or risk punishment.

The higher-ups are going to begin their meeting, and they are not to be disturbed.

The oddly low, twisting branch of one of the trees surrounding the nesting grounds had seemed the perfect place to perch while surveying the rebuilding of the Flock. Low being desired in this instance, as it allowed for a trailing hind leg to dangle down to brush the back of her new toy. She wasn't willing to let him out of her sight just yet, he was too new, and she wouldn't want him being molested by the sisters, or wandering off on his own. No, she was keeping a close eye on him.

A task made complicated by the sung request of the queen. It was a summons, and Zahraa' would not ignore it. Pale ears perking up at the noise, she lifted her head, turning in the direction of the carried notes. She rose to her feet, talons digging into the soft bark for balance. Chirruping a reply, her own song just as sweet, letting Aviania know she was on her way.

"We're moving, come on." She didn't wait for a reply, but she did pause long enough for him to get to his feet and follow. She'd leave him in the area reserved for males near the queen's nest. It was within viewing range, and she could keep an eye on him, but it was far enough away that if the harpies kept their voices low, the conversation wouldn't reach him.

Cabriole safe with a few other males, she tensed, darting at the queen's tree, bounding up into it's branches and coming to a graceful stop beside the lip of the nest. "Here, my queen."

User ImageOn the grounds of the nesting area, Celaeno watched over her sisters as they worked on reconstructing the Flock. She would help out when a sister asked for it, and did not take a moment to act when asked to help. The flock's numbers were not big in numbers, and would do everything her power to speed up the progress in the reconstruction. After a while, she felt assured that everything was under control, and her additional help was not needed. The commander backed off, trusting that her sisters would not need to be re-directed in what to do because they all knew what needed to be done.

A sweet, familiar tune sounded, and Celaeno understood it was a summoning from the Queen. Her eyes glowed a bit brighter, as she glanced over the work area one more time. She assured her sisters that they were doing a good job, before turning away to head towards the Queen. She sounded a melody of her own to let her Queen know she was on her way.

As she closed in towards the Queen's nesting area, she recognized Zahraa''s call and smirked. She had heard that her sister had recently captured a stallion, and a congratulations would be in order when the time was right. She paid no attention to the safe spot for the stallions as she quickly made her way up the Queen's tree, and landed at Zahraa''s side before the Queen. "As am I, my Queen."

"Timely as always," Aviania smiled fondly at the Commanders as they arrived, first at Zahraa' and then at Celaeno; they are the cream of the crop, the finest fighters and strategists of the Flock, and the ones who know their customs inside out... Looking at them, she felt at ease that one of them will be the future Queen. She proceeded to move to the back of her nest before laying down gracefully, adopting the same position she was in just a while ago.

"Please, make yourselves comfortable, darlings," She nodded, gesturing for them to come forward; a Harpy's nest was meant to be big, but hers was one of the largest - after all, it doubled as a nest and throne. Then again, taking into consideration the weight the tree could hold, the nest was built to fit three at any one time. Back in the mountains, her throne and nest were separated but here, she could not afford the luxury due to a lack of space.

As she patiently waited for her sisters to settle, a slight frown tugged at her lips. Her tone became serious as she continued, "We have a lot of things to discuss today... Some of which I'm sure are worrying you as well. The move might had been successful, but as you already know, an existing herd had already claimed this land and are pressuring us to move... Again. What are your thoughts on this matter?" She decided to start with the most pressing problem; they had only been here for a little over a week, and to move again so soon will surely cause unrest among the Flock members.

Settling in against the edge of the nest, Raa' dug talons into the woven floor, inching and shifting until she was perfectly comfortable. She may share genes with a bird(and she was plenty bird like because of it), she had a bundle of mannerisms that were distinctly cat like. "Of course, I'm always at your side when you need me."

A glance over the lip of the nest showed the area designated specifically for the males, and she spotted her songbird among the few bodies below rather quickly. She could hear his bells. Her attention flew back to the queen though. She'd summoned her commanders, and Raa' owed her undivided attention. What she heard was not altogether surprising. She'd know about the other herd, and she'd suspected another move may be in their near future. She'd wisely not bothered to build her nest high up, but rather had gone for ease of build and convenience.

"The other herd out numbers us, by a lot. We may have the strength, the speed, the skill, but still do not like those odds. I think we should cease the rebuild and focus on regaining strength and stamina in the sisters and our new males, and move again. We need our own lands, and even if we managed to drive the other herd away from here, what cost would we be paying? How many would we lose, when we can't afford to lose any?" Zahraa' was rather opinionated, but she was not without the common sense and knowledge to back up her statements.

From her peripherals, she watched as Zahraa' shifted until she was comfortable in the nest. She, too, shifted and moved towards a spot in the nest where it would offer a bit more cushion for her bottom. Settling in this spot, her attention went back to the Queen before her, and smirked a bit. "Of course, Queen. I will always come when you call." She answered back to her Queen, glancing over to Zahraa' who answered similarly before her. Her lips tightened against each other, trying to repress the feeling of competition before her.

Her attention went back to the Queen, deciding that it would be best to work with the other commander for now and pay attention to the matter being put into question. She was well aware of the other herd as well, and the pressure being put on them. Even though she had faith their Flock was strong, she could not ignore the question in numbers that the other herd presented.

Listening to her fellow commander, she lightly nodded her head. "I agree with sister. As much as I'd like to drive my claws into the flesh of the other herd, I know in the long run that it will not benefit the herd as a whole. I have no doubts our sisters have the strength, but we cannot afford start something against the other herd. We need to find a new area where we can grow further in strength and numbers." She said.

"Splendid!" Aviania grinned, clearly delighted at the responses she received, "It seems that we share similar views on the matter. Yes, if only we are stronger in numbers, no doubt we will be fighting instead of... Moving." She narrowed her eyes as she finished her sentence, avoiding the use of the word 'fleeing'; although she was relieved that her Commanders felt the same way, her pride had suffered from the decision they had to make.

"We move at the end of this week," She continued, significantly calmer as she nodded briefly, "Be sure to spread the message to the rest of our sisters - as we will be moving soon, tell them to stop the reconstruction of the nests. However, hunting trips should still be frequent to feed the Flock. We'll need energy for the road ahead of us."

She shifted her body to be more comfortable before flexing her front talons, resting them back on her limbs. Closing her eyes, she tried to tune in to the spiritual realm, but could only hear inaudible, disturbed whispers. Her brows furrowed in slight frustration, "Without Aylin, I can't hear the spirits as clearly as I should... We need to organize a visit to her soon." She paused briefly, frowning slightly, "I wish to go myself, after the move, leaving the two of you to look after the Flock in my absence. However, I am worried that our sisters might be distressed without my presence so soon after moving twice. Then again, we need to know what the spirits have in stored for us... Both are equally pressing matters! What are your opinions on this?"

Zahraa' was pleased to see that not only the queen, but her fellow commander agreed. It had been a hard decision to come to, one that had been plaguing her thoughts for days now, but she felt better that her sisters shared her concerns. "There is no shame in avoiding conflict with a herd that has, as of yet, in no way wronged us." Her shoulders gave a soft roll. She was practical, proud, like her sisters, but occasionally she was oddly thoughtful as well.

As the queen went over the plan for the move and her's and Celaeno's tasks regarding the matter, Raa' listened intently. Filing away her duties so she could carry them out to the letter. There was nothing for Zahraa' quite so important as the queen's praise, approval, and she reveled in the opportunity to shine. If the pale mare had one true vice, it was pride. Her own and that of her peers.

The absence of the oracle was unsettling to Raa', she didn't like their best link to the spiritual realm so far from the safety of her sisters. And as Aviania stated, her own access to the whispers were limited with out Aylin. "I agree that someone should visit Aylin, and the best candidate is you, my queen. We have none other among us that shows any promise in speaking to the spirits." She frowned softly. "It may cause worry, but do not underestimate our sisters. They will understand the need for the trip, and I do believe Celaeno and myself will be able to handle things." She tilted her head toward the other commander, her friend and rival, catching the eye of the dark fem. They were competitive, almost fiercely so, but both had always put the well being the flock before all else.

(( Sorry about such the long delay! @w@ ))

Celaeno watched her Queen closely, and felt a tad happy that it pleased her Queen. She did not show it on the outside, but she felt the joy bubble within her. "Yet again, I agree with my sister. There is no shame at all in moving, especially with a threat of conflict we cannot win with the current numbers we have." She said surely.

Listening further to the Queen, she nodded her head in understanding. After the meeting, she would be certain that she would go around the Flock and make sure everyone knows what their orders.

The harpy kept her attention on her Queen. Her feathers ruffled a bit before resettling down in pristine order. The mare responded with a nod of her head in regards to the need to visit the oracle. She didn't feel as comfortable in the nest with the oracle so far away. "It is important to go visit the oracle, but I must agree with my sister. It is you, my Queen, that would be the best candidate to go visit the Aylin. If we must, we could always wait until after the move to arrange another short meeting and decide from there to see what is best for the rest of our sisters. If they prove too distressed at the possibility without your presence, then I suggest that I go, or sister Raa' go to visit the oracle." She said in suggestion.

{No worries. <3}

Aviania listened in silence, considering every one of her Commanders' comments and concerns regarding their second move; they were always such good advisers, and it helps that they often agree with each other's opinions. She nodded as Celaeno finished, her tone serious as she replied, "Well said... If anyone asks, tell her the situation truthfully - I'm sure they will understand the reason for this move and the pressure the opposing herd is imposing on us. If they don't..." She paused, hesitating for a moment, "The Flock will move without them."

The second issue was just as pressing, and it made her glad to know that her Commanders share her sentiments - she is the one to visit Aylin. She nodded again, this time at Zahraa', "Indeed, I do trust you and Celaeno to look after the Flock. Your leadership skills will surely be up to the task!" She gave a small smile before turning to Celaeno, giving the dark colored harpy a brief nod, "Indeed... The trip will be organized after this move to make sure that the sisters are settled in. After that, I leave the Flock in both of your care during the period of the trip."

Raa' shifted her weight to her side, legs following the contour of braided twigs that edged the nest. Pale ears slipped back to mingle with the downy bases of her feathered mane. She didn't like the thought of leaving anyone behind, but had to agree it was the best course of action. Her chin dipped in a nod. "Understood, my queen." She would do as Aviania instructed, and she would do it without question. Her queen's word was law, and she lived to uphold that law.

She perked up though when the chocolate harpy expressed her trust and confidence in Celaeno and herself, and Raa' couldn't help the sudden swell of her chest or the subtle twitch at her lips, almost a smile. "You will find the flock in as good, if not better shape upon you return from sister Aylin's visit."

The issues already discussed had been the most pressing, and now that they'd been taken care of, she was curious if there were more things on her dark queen's mind. "Is there anything else that worries you, Aviania?"

Celaeno listened to her Queen, waiting to see on how to approach the matters in regards to the rest of her sisters. "I understand, my Queen." She said with a nod. "I hope that we do not have to come to that." The darker harpy replied in regards to leaving behind a sister.

In response to the second issue, the darker harpy just nodded her head in understanding. "I will not let you down, my Queen." She said confidently. She would assure that there wouldn't be any trouble while the Queen was away. She would be sure of it if it means crushing said trouble.

Her eyes flickered to her paler Commander before returning her attention back to the Queen to await her response.

{If there are no IC questions, this RP is now closed. :3 You may post a "closing" post to make it sound more complete, but the main points had already been discussed so there's really nothing else. <3}

"Splendid! I'm glad that the two of you are confident!" The Queen exclaimed as she smiled happily, pleased at the conclusion of the meeting; it was rare for her to show her emotions so openly, but she was in an exceptionally good mood now that all the pressing problems had been dealt with. Besides, she would soon be on her way back to visit Aylin! She had missed the Oracle rather badly during this period, not only as her spiritual support, but as a close friend as well.

"No, that is all, darling," She simply replied at hearing Zahraa's question, turning to face the pale Harpy, "However, if you have anything to ask or report to me, please bring it up now."
