
Allein trudged through the hard ground around their valley. She preferred it in winter, when the snow was there to stop her feet from scraping in the dirt. But it was still her valley.
At one point she would have never considered settling down. She was a loner and a wanderer at heart. But then he changed everything.
As much as she liked to blame it all on him at times, she couldn't help but miss him at the same time. How long had it been? It seemed like ages. Occasionally she would see glimpses of him, but then he would be gone. Other times she would visit that cave he lived in only to find it empty.
So now here she was, alone again, but finding herself following those ancient footprints that he led her through these walls of stone once before.
