I have been wondering what you guys use when you cast spells or rituals. Do you use the traditional tools (wand, crystal ball, etct.), stones, herbs, personal tools (charms, talismins), or what ever? I would love to see images of your favorite tools, and how you guys use them.
My favorite tool is my idol of my deity, Pan. I kiss its forehead when ever I am in need of blessings or the like, such as growth for my crops or inspiration. It is made out of sculpty clay ad painted with acrylic paint.

I don't particularly like the term tool, at least not in relation to certain ritual items. Many things are representations of Gods (addressed below), Elements, or symbols, etc... and so they are more than just "devices that can be used to produce or achieve something". My favorite item is a handmade bowl that I use, not only for holding Water (and representing that Element), but for holding the water/salt mixture use when consecrating my circle and altar. Quote: My favorite tool is my idol of my deity, Pan. I kiss its forehead when ever I am in need of blessings or the like, such as growth for my crops or inspiration. It is made out of sculpty clay ad painted with acrylic paint. I know it seems that I'm always debating things with you, and I'll apologize in advance, but... Your statement bothers me a bit. An Idol (usually) is a physical representation of what one worships, and basically what it sounds like you are saying is that you see your God as a tool. sweatdrop

I know we debate. I am just glad that we both do not intend to offend the other. That is all that I ask for. Thank you.
As for my terminology, it was just poor word choice. I was lost for another way to refer to spiritual physical items that are used/touched/and so forth in spells and rituals. I don't think of many of them as actual tools, but extensions of greater things. My wand is an extension of me, and my idol is an extension of my god. That is what I meant.

I guess the tools I use would be a small cauldron and a sharpie.
The sharpie's a surprisingly useful tool actually. I also use herbs most of the time.

zabazor what do you use the sapphire for? And is the cauldron just symbolic or is there piratical use? Not sapphire, a sharpie...a marker pen hehe. I use it to create circles if I need them, mark candles, create symbols, oh all sorts! The cauldron can be practical or symbolic but mostly practical. I don't have a space outside to burn incense and herbs so I need that little indoor space.

The most I've done as far as spells go is cleanse/purify a few (2) stones, all i have is visualization to work with and no other tools so i guess you could say that's my favorite tool, and i really like it a lot. But I think there is somethings weird when i visualize. It's hard to explain, it's like i see it but i don't, almost in the sense that knowing it's there is the same thing as seeing it. man do i talk in riddles

To be honest my most used tool, and quite possibly favorite is my recorder (the instrument, not the technology thing(for lack of a better word)). I use it for everything, from thanking the deities, to gathering energy. The music from the recorder, partnered with visualization, seems to bring a greater level of communication then words alone, but that's just my opinion.

That's amazing guys. I am so shocked to see that many of you do not lean towards traditional tools.
I love using instruments in ritual as well. I have finger chimes and a nice little bell specifically for spells/rituals, but I have a piano and viola I love to play. I have never used them in rituals because they are very noisy, and would give away my secrecy.
