Would you ever use one in an avatar? What are your opinions on them?
PostPosted: Wed Jun 16, 2010 5:30 pm

I might use them. If animated items get released outside cash items.

I'm scared of their abuse. People using too many things that move in the avatar or a whole thread page full of moving avatars.

It kind of ruins the matching of the avatar if a piece of it moves.

I'm not against the idea of animated items. I think they're like most items. Like, for example, the nitemare scarf looks awful on most avatars. However, some people use it well and make it actually look good.

As we get more and more, they might have more of a place in the matching style. As of now, I don't think they can't be a centerpiece.

I worry about what animated items mean for the future of the CS items. The 3 we got cost the same price as EIs, yet only gave us one pose. I don't care about the flashy part, I consider it a rip off. I like to get the most amount of (usable) poses per cash/gold spent.

Meh. As of yet I'm not terribly excited about them. No good ones so far really and I haven't seen them used well in but a few avatars. They might be exciting eventually if they cost less cash and/or have more poses but yeah, as Cabbi said, not really worth getting for anything other than GCD-esque delight of owning expensive s**t.

I like the blush - but I like it because it's pretty demure. I hate that halo.

Ok, let me qualify that. I actually like the halo *when not animated*

I actually think that the animations running out is a boon (!!) I'd wear the un-animated halo biggrin

XD Yeah... I'd be more excited over something like, well, an animated EI. But only because we'd hopefully get five poses for 999c, not just one. And even then, the poses would have to be spectacular for me to consider spending that much cash. > <

I have the opposite opinion, Azure. I only like the glowing halo. The little "sparkles" on the non-animated version annoy me. I've recently learned that the blessed stellarite is in the gold shops now (Skin Tyte) for 30k. Before, according to reports I heard, it's only source was the DC. If I'd known that the animated halo could be recharged by a gold shop item, I probably would have given in and bought one.
The halo is too flashy for my tastes, but I also just have a weak spot for angelic items in general. A snazzy halo like that would have fit with my collection nicely. As it stands, I'm currently surviving just fine without the halo so I think I made the right choice for me.

But yep, the items should un-animate come July 15th, right? I can't wait until my blush un-animates. I bought it for the non-animated pose, not the animated one. > <

I feel a little stubborn, but I don't like the AIs. They're too flashy to not be a centerpiece, and you can't really coordinate to a *moving* centerpiece. I know it's possible, we've had that one example with the owl... but there's this lingering feeling like, if it's still a good avatar wherever that owl is located, then wouldn't it be an unnecessary addition?

The halo is just a giant centerpiece at the top of the avatar. Too Shazam! Zing! BOOM! for much other than "Look what I can buy!" Which I'm against.

And the Blush is just too subtle to spend money on.

As of July 15th, we got our fourth AI: Shadow Gem 999c

What do you guys think of it?

When I first previewed it, I thought the AI was great for matching. Then I looked again. I then realized that the pink disappeared for a few frames. I thought it stayed the whole time. If it did, it'd be easier to build a matching avatar around it. But seeing as the pink, purple and black all take turns reappearing and disappearing, it's not necessary for a matching avatar. A matching avatar would still need to add other static pink, purple, black items to the feet to be there when the AI colors fade.
Buuuuut~ this one still does look like a fun one to use. Too bad it's 999c. I don't understand why it costs so much. For the price, I'd rather have a pico's urn. ;D

Personally, I think that AI's will have their hype, then they will just blend in with the rest of the items. I don't think that they will catch on.

There will be a point where Gaia is shoving them down our throats, but I do like the Rapid Ei ideas. Checkmate was pretty cool, and Mana Seed had its fair share of good poses
PostPosted: Fri Sep 10, 2010 2:56 pm

I like the idea of rapid EIs.
I don't like that they have less poses than the regular EIs that cost the same amount of cash. Sure they reach the final evolution sooner and the poses don't disappear as it evolves. I just don't think that's worth extra cash. I personally would rather wait longer to get more poses per cash spent. So, in other words, I wish they were cheaper... or had more poses. XD;

Two new AIs were released on Sept 8th, 2010.
[announcement]
Twinkling Prism Charm & Jelly Bubblepop

I think the Jelly Bubblepop has potential. It doesn't change colors. There are always floating bubbles on screen. The bubbles are always on the move so I don't think they'd help balance any other light blue items. I don't see them hurting an outfit though. This one seems like it could be a useful accessory for a matching avatar.

The Twinkling Prism Charm is another matter. It disappears. It changes shape as it moves. It adds a whole lot of color. It seems like a cute, fun item. I'm sure it would be nice for some of those cutesy rainbow avatars out there. It just doesn't seem like a versatile item though. It's worse than the halo.

I like the Jelly Bubblepop as a test for interactive items. That seems like an interesting idea that can work well if executed well.

Other than that, I don't see myself buying AIs anytime soon.

O _______O
Oh my gosh. I know the description said something about being able to pop the bubbles. But I just chalked it up as another one of Gaia's funny descriptions. I didn't know the bubbles were poppable! (I ran to the mp after I read your post to check it out.) That changes everything. O:

The Jelly Bubblepop would not be a good item for matching. :B If people pop all the bubbles, that leaves none to add color. O: XD
But now I want one. Just because it's neat. And I could pop bubbles.
... I know I'd rarely use it though. Bubbles covering my outfit would annoy me. I'll just have to be content with finding people who have it equipped and popping their bubbles for, like, five seconds.

Bubbles are want, just for the interactivity. AIs are still no good for matching :S
The first real candidate as Animated was the Shadow Gem, but the colors were too vivid unlike any other items we've had. Bubbles are better, but I was popping more bubbles than I was looking at the static pose.

...I don't know how I feel about the bubbles. I think I'd be easily distracted and play with them if I saw someone wearing them. >.<
