Revel fought a rising sense of despair as she fought and stumbled her way through the wet snow that evening, trying to figure out where she was...and where to go. Her maddened dash away from the Draug packlands had not served her well; now she was completely lost, and realizing quite painfully that her sense of smell was gone. Her head still hurt, but that was the least of her worries. Her legs still wouldn't work right....and she was getting hungry, now that the worst of the nausea had passed. The thought kept going through her mind that she wondered if she'd ever see Elan again.
Still, she kept going....
At least it won't be as cold tonight as it has been, she thought, grateful for that small blessing.

Too much time was being wasted laying about and waiting for things to get done. The large wolf understood that these sort of things couldn't exactly be rushed, but he found himself agitated by the length of time it was taking to pull everything together. Marley had said that everything would work out in due time, that, before he knew it, he'd be an alpha once more. He would have soldiers at his disposal, soldiers that would fear and respect him for his greatness.
Lips pulled back over glistening teeth, the white a stark contrast to the black of his fur around his mouth as his grin spread. He was enjoying the visuals in his mind a little too much; he knew he was getting ahead of himself. But the idea of a pack supporting him once more... it was simply delicious.
It caused enough excitement in him that he simply couldn't sit about waiting any longer. He had to get out. Maybe he would hunt, or maybe he would just walk. All he knew was that he had to get moving. Idleness was not something he dabbled in too often. But where to go whislt he waited? He still wasn't too familiar with this landscape, though he doubted that he would ever get lost. Dunn, the infallible. It had a ring to it.
Another grin spread across his muzzle as he slowly headed off in a random direction. The ground crunched under his paws, alerting other wildlife to his presence. Normally he would go for stealth, but he didn't feel hungry or particularly threatened in this area, so he felt no need to conceal his coming and going. It was only after a few minutes of walking that he caught a scent, drifting on the wind. But it quickly changed course, and he found that he was left with nothing but an inkling. He narrowed his golden eyes, ears quivering. He didn't catch much from the scent, other than it was another wolf. One that he wasn't familiar with. Even so, he felt confident.
"Hello?" he called out, wondering if they were nearby. His ears stayed perked and alert, waiting for any sound or indication that he wasn't alone.

Revel tried to stop too suddenly in response to the voice and knocked herself facefirst into a snowdrift. "Aaagh..." I think I'm stuck....Ummm...."HELP?" she called out tentatively, wiggling with no success. Normally she'd have been able to handle this easily, and that knowledge bothered the youngish adult female somewhat. So vulnerable. A rather detestable situation, she thought with some irritation.

Though pierced with bone, his ears worked exceptionally well, and he was able to hear the cry of help from the other wolf. His curiosity raised, he headed off towards the sound of the call. He wondered what sort of situation the other might have gotten himself into in order to call for help from a total stranger. Or, perhaps this wolf wasn't alone, and had called to his friend. Yet the call for help had come only after Dunn had spoken. He shook his head, trying to chase away all the pestering what ifs.
He rounded a corner and saw, with much amusement lighting his features, that a wolf had gotten itself stuck in the snow. His nose twitched, trying to figure this one out before he pulled it out of the snow. His nose told him that this was a female, and that she was alone. There lingered no scent of another wolf on her fur. Satisfied, he decided that he would help. He'd play the hero to this damsel in distress. Perhaps then she would feel indebted to him, and he could use her for his own advantages.
"Well, you've gotten yourself in quite a predicament, miss," he called, his deep voice rumbling in his chest. He let out a small chuckle, unable to help himself. "Mind if I help you out?" he asked, keeping his voice soft and, hopefully, alluring. It had been a while since he'd acted as the good guy; he was a little rusty.
"Miss?"

Oh, good, the she-wolf thought gratefully. "Oh, um, please do, if you wouldn't mind," she replied with some trepidation, wordlessly wondering what would happen when the creature attached to the voice found out her infirmity. She tried not to think about it, since she couldn't very well get out without the help. Revel shifted, trying to get her feet under her and growling under her breath in frustration.

Dunn eyed the stuck wolf for a moment, wondering how to go about getting her out. He didn't mind hurting her, but for his intentions he had to be as nice as possible. No need to be needlessly vicious with a wolf that could work towards his advantage. Black lips pulled up and away from glistening white teeth. He may have decided not to hurt the female intentionally, but he figured he might as well have some fun with this.
To the female, he said, "Miss! I'm going to try and pull you out by your tail. So don't be alarmed. Let me know if it hurts." He nodded, knowing that he probably wouldn't stop even if she told him he was causing her pain. He could always come up with some excuse afterwards about why he didn't let go, but he would deal with that when, or if, it even came to that. For now, he had a job to do. Grinning still, he took a step closer to the female. He noticed her struggles, but didn't bother with them. If she caused herself more pain, then that was even better.
"Here I go!" he called, and in the next second he snatched her tail in his jaws. He clamped down softly, wanting her to trust him at first. He could break it later. Growling, and hoping for it to sound playful, he tugged. His paws slipped on the snow, however, and so he fell halfway on his side, tail still in his mouth. He grunted, then rose again.
"Once more," he mumbled around his moutful of fur. He tugged again, hoping at least that this would work and he wouldn't look like a fool.

Revel popped out on the second attempt, shaking snow out of her ears, looking slightly perturbed but otherwise unhurt. "Thanks," she said, with a grateful grin. She turned her head to look at the snowpile and her look changed to rather disgusted. "Oh, I'm sick of being like this," she said quietly, but loudly enough to hear. "I want to be normal again."
Moments later, she partly wished she hadn't said it. Exposing her weakness to a stranger was probably a stupid thing to do. Still, she supposed, he'd find out anyway as soon as she tried to walk. I wonder how intelligent it would be to tell him I'm hungry.

He let go of her tail immediately after she was free of her prison, not wanting to cause more damage. Dunn then cocked a bone-pierced ear for a moment, but otherwise made no comment on the female's remark. It was just his luck that he would run into someone that might possibly be crazy. But then, that could be just what he needed. Someone unstable and not all right in the head might be easy to manipulate, if he worked his advantages right. Smiling at her in a friendly manner, he first focused on winning her over and getting her to trust him.
"Are you unharmed, Miss?" he inquired, keeping his tone light. He would stick to smalltalk first, then move on into deeper matters that might reveal to him the true nature of her character and intelligence.
"I'm no healer, but I can try my best to get you whatever it is you need or desire to feel comfortable." He felt rather like a host talking to some honored guest. It was strange, but something that had to be played out. He'd get on her good side first, then move in and go ahead with his plot. Settling onto his haunches, he blinked at her and waited with polite curiosity for her answer.

"Thanks so much for helping me out." Something in the way the male spoke seemed...unusual...but the offer of help was tempting. After a few moments, she finally spoke. "Well, if it's okay, I'd like a little something to eat," she told him, her tone respectful. "I haven't been able to catch anything lately." She looked away, rather depressed over that fact.

Dunn took on the appropriate look of despair. He hoped that it appeared as if he felt sorry for the female, and that he wanted nothing more than to help her out. In reality, though, he wanted nothing more than her loyalties tied completely to him, by way of his acts of kindness. If hunting for her would help speed things along, then he had no objections. He rather enjoyed the blood bath that could ensue after prey is brought down.
"I will be sure to catch you the fattest prey I can sink my teeth into." He spoke literally as well as figuratively; literally in the sense that he would attempt to catch her some fine prey in hopes to impress her, and figuratively because he hoped that through such he could secure himself another mindless servant willing to do his bidding. With a quick nod, he turned then sped off into the forest, his bearing implying that he was intent and putting all of his focus into this hunt.
(( We can say that some time lapsed, sparing the boring hunt details. XD ))
When he came back, the black and silver wolf held in his mouth two fat hares. They had been the closest prey, as well as burdened down by their own fat and weight and thus incapable of making a successful escape. He dropped the dead meat down at the female's feet, panting in mock exertion. In reality, he had barely used any energy to catch this meal, yet there was no need to tell her that.
"Hope this is enough, for now. I figured you didn't want to wait." He sat back and waited, not bothering to lick off the traces of blood that had leaked through where he had punctured the rabbits in order to kill them. He felt the blood would accent him nicely and hopefully put some fear into the other wolf.

Revel wondered about the propriety of her just digging in, and what her mother would have said...but she was so very hungry she did just that, barely noticing the failure of the other wolf to clean his muzzle. Perhaps he just didn't care to, she mused. She'd known her share of those who preferred the look. "Thank you," she said between mouthfuls. "This is SO good... oh, did you want some...?" she added, the fact coming to her that he might not have had any and perhaps she shouldn't eat it all.
