About: Cart was lost as an egg and found a long time later by Old Silverback, who helped raise him. Inspired by a wanderlust and a desire to rescue eggs who were, like him, lost, Cart formed the loose ancestor of the Stone Compass Pack and led them south in search of eggs. After he left in search of his mate, Freckles, who had disappeared, he returned with a larger family and officially formed the Stone Compass Pack, which he is the leader of. He is adventurous, yet responsible, preferring to reason rather than fight another dragon.

About: Achat was born in a small community of dragons that was eventually wiped out by the plague. He and his first mate, Sunstone, moved away to a new cave to lay their only egg, Cart. Unfortunately, they went hunting during a snowstorm and lost each other. When Achat found Sunstone, she was dead. Heartbroken, he attempted to find Cart and found that he could not. In panic, he continued searching the mountains for countless years, learning stories and becoming a legend himself as one of those unhappy spirits everyone talks about. Eventually, he met Old Silverback, who told him of his son’s hatching. Overjoyed, Achat tracked him down, introduced himself to Cart, and joined the Stone Compass Pack. He has a tendency to occasionally wander off, but for the most part he stays with the pack.
Chances are, if the pack is old enough and established enough, Achat has heard tales of it. He’s heard of Mountain Road, Westfall, Omaticayu, Decepticons, Seireitei—he’s even heard a few faint whispers of Isolé. He occasionally tells the stories he’s heard of them to the younger members of his pack.

About: Malachite was hatched near the coast and hardly ever met any other dragon. Fueled by some desire she could not name, she wandered east into the mountains, where she learned a few hunting techniques. She was surprised when she met her first few dragons, learning that she was not alone in the world. When she met Cart and his pack, she fell deeply in love with Sforkok (who, by luck, fell in love with her as well). She and Sfor help each other with any difficult issues, with Sfor providing the structure and Mal the gentleness. They plan to someday try to find a way to have eggs with each other.

About: River’s parents died before she hatched. Her parents had four eggs, but at first, her oldest sister, Linnea, was the only one who hatched. She had planned to go back for her siblings, but before she could, the Stone Compass found, hatched, and raised River and her brothers. River ended up being a very bad egg—she is arrogant and selfish, and has a tendency to do things without thinking and getting herself into trouble. Thus, when she was playing around one day with her friend Atum, they got into doing some…risky behavior. River ended up having Atum’s kids, they got mad at each other and blamed each other, and now they hate each other. River loves her sons dearly, but she’s decided it’s best she leave Stone Compass. Other than that, she is spiteful and cruel.

About: Atum was found abandoned in a cave by Achat. Achat hatched him and raised him, bringing him with him to Stone Compass. Like River, Atum is arrogant and self-centered. But unlike her, he does not get along well with his sons. He eventually left the pack—he had long since alienated his only friend, Pinecrest (who had left the pack anyway to pursue his own future) and he didn’t feel comfortable with all the criticism leveled at him by Sfor, Mal, River, and his sons. He is now a wanderer in a world that feels increasingly more lonely, and he’s realizing that he has only himself to blame.

About: Pinecrest is a sweet dragon who prefers to think the best of everybody. He’s only a little younger than Atum and was raised alongside him by Achat. As a child, he loved Atum as a big brother, always looking up to him. As they grew older and he began to seek the respect of the pack instead, he and Atum grew distant, and, feeling heartbroken by their loss of friendship, Pinecrest has wandered away to seek his fortune. He’s met the granddaughter of Old Silverback, Khala, whom he loves and has decided to stick around with.

About: Fogmane lived with his parents, Silverears and Cloudclaw, and his sister, Mistpaw. He’s always had this strange feeling all his life; that he’s done this all before. It’s a massive déjà vu so great that he only notices it when he doesn’t feel it. He’s absolutely positive that he’s lived many lives before, and none of them as a dragon. After his parents and sister died of the plague—yep, more déjà vu—he met a lovely female dragon named Aine, whom he recognized from a tasty déjà vu with a side of chocolate and spices. They are life-mated now—which feels right by both their senses of déjà vu—and have two children, Cathair and Dagda. Dagda, for some reason, doesn’t feel like déjà vu. Weird.

About: Up is Down is a dragon with a very strange outlook on life. Uid’s mother, Sunrise Sets, lived out on the westward plains near human settlements, and she was a kleptomaniac extraordinaire—like she’d been a magpie in another life. Her grandiose schemes to attack and defend territories while stealing any local humans as blind as she could make them got passed down, to some extent, to Uid. In short, Uid is a pirate. She wanders around a territory just up from the foothills with her best friend Bunny and the three boys they’ve adopted: Anken, Rise Up, and Wyvern. They’re not an item, by the way—just friends. Uid doesn’t know if she’ll ever be an item. She’s sort of picky, and she hates flirts.

About: Harmoniae’s family group—it wasn’t really a pack, just a family group—was mostly made up of lesbian females. It wasn’t that they had something against males, it’s just that they were females, and they were attracted to females, and that’s how life worked out in this family. Harmy can still remember the day a few years ago when she was a teenager, that her cousin came home with a man. Harmy feels a special attachment to her cousin’s children in general (they played together a lot as a kid)—especially to her only son. The two of them both have the same adventurous spirit. So when Harmy announced that she was going to part ways with the pack to wander, her second-cousin, Spruce, followed her. She takes care of him, and he’s her personal Eric Idle, getting her to look on the bright side of life.

About: Spruceflower—or Spruce as he’s commonly called, preferably Spruce the Luck as he named himself—was the only male in a pack of females (well, besides his dad). It was a little awkward growing up, but he was lucky to learn a few things about how the female mind works. It’s one of the many ways that he is lucky. Spruce loves to wander and he’s a bit of a flirt, or at least, he used to be, until he and his cousin Harmy found Kamia. Now Spruce is madly in love with Kamia and they have two bouncing baby boys, Fir de Lance and Cedar. Spruce couldn’t be more proud.

About: Jasper and his friend Firegarnet were found and adopted by Wolftongue Iron-leg, both having hatched in the same area. He has little or no memory of anything before Wolftongue adopted them. He was taken with the armored warrior to Tarragon, where he’s tried to settle in as best he can. He loves the pack, though he often feels like a bit of an outcast. Personality-wise, Jasper is kind, sweet, and quiet, but he lacks any real self-confidence. He usually asks for confirmation on an order several times before he accepts that he remembers the order correctly.
