I'm wondering if other people have the same sort of jihad that I do- being at peace with oneself over their sexuality, but in conflict with the world.
I am not evil for being attracted to women.
And...oh heck, I'll just say it...
READY?!
FIGHT!

Why not??? My last manager was very christian and very gay. He was kind of cool when he wasn't picking out every little thing I did differently. He was a damn good manager though. But he has a huge cross tattoed on his forearm. I don't understand whe whole "You like someone of the same sex! You will die and go to hell and be tortured for eternity" Um... What about the catholic priests who touch little boys? Or the hypocrites sitting right in their congragation who cheat on their wives? Then bring their new girlfriend to church with them? {That happened to my mom} It's just a whole world full of hypocrisy.

I've just been meeting people who seem to be very much in the mindset that Religion and 'deviant' sexuality can't coexist, especially in a single person XD

xxEternallyBluexx I don't know. Depends on what your religion says, I guess. Eh, religions are up to interpretation of their followers, imo. There are apparently some sayings of the Prophet Muhummad (pbuh) that say gay sex is a no-no. But the Qu'ran is actually rather ambiguously written in some aspects- in that a reader, over their lifetime, and over the course of human growth and change, can find new meaning in old scriptures. Again, just imho.

I am a Muslim too, but a convert. Does Muslim marriages even happen in a Mosque?
All the Muslim marriages I've seen were done at the house, because all you really do is sign a marriage contract, deal with the Dowry and an Imam is there to bless you or whatever...

I guess the question REALLY was "Should I be allowed to get married in a traditional Muslim way?" I dunno. Fail on me for failing to look into that. XD

Most people I talk to see it as pretty straight-forward, black or white.

Fail on me for failing to look into that. XD It's okay, the actual marriage ceremony is not something that happens to us each day, so i guess One wouldnt look into that until its time xd Hrrm...Well, I'm unsure if an Imam would sanction your marriage in Islam. There are open minded Imams, I've even seen a Homosexual Imam who refrains from a**l sex since the way HE interprets the Qur'an is that the act of Sodomy is against Islam, not homosexual love. But when you go on Hajj, Insha'Allah, I would definatley NOT tell them you're gay....They like to practice their own warped form of Shariah and would probably lock you up or something confused Living with your partner in the West, is okay by me. But I would fear for your well-being in a place like Iran or Saudi.

Yeah, if I do actually get the nerve to take the pilgrimage, isA, I'll be wearing a black niqab, not a flashing rainbow neon sign (or a rainbow hijab, for that matter wink ). I might not be the brightest crayon in the box, but I know better than to parade my sexual orientation in the Middle East. Thank you for your concern and your support though! biggrin

When I make my Hajj, I want to be totally focused on why I am there, not even worried on how I may look.

Most people I talk to see it as pretty straight-forward, black or white. Just different things. Like the argument against it essentially comes from a few verses, and I've heard arguments that it was misinterpreted. And those arguments do basically apply to Christians, so I don't know why they apply them to the atheists and other religions, or focus on them when a topic like divorce is probably more important. On the other hand some Christians who formerly had a homosexual life-style have testimonies about being much more happy being straight. I don't have a very strong argument for or against it. The only thing is I have a problem with people saying gays don't have equal rights, and having a day of silence because straights can't marry anyone of their own gender either, and I really don't think anyone's been silenced. In some ways it seems like everyone takes whatever side they're on far too seriously. stare

Ya, same here too.. I don't think there are marriages in a masjid, the most extravagant ones I know of happen in an entertaining hall and then they move to somewhere else for the party afterwards.

It's not like the people who are voting must get married to a person of the same sex. Government and religions tend to be too controling, for me atleast. What happened to free will?
