The riverbed spoke noisily as the sun rose overhead to its peek. The drowning noise of insects covered the sound of hooves stepping into dry leaves and sticks, slowly moving in search of prey. The blue herla had been eating pretty little flowers for the past few days, but now she craved meat. And somewhere close by she knew there was a nest of tasty little creatures.

Sarla stepped to the riverbank, leaning down to take a sip before picking her head up at hearing the sound of movement. Possibly a squirrel in the trees. Or one of those delicious pigs from home had found its way here. "No, that's too much to hope for", she murmured, scratching at an itch on her wing carefully with her horns. "None the less, it's something." She tried to convince herself, staring off into the wood and shrub area as if she could see through the foliage and find her prey.

Draven seethed as the pain in his ankle shot through his whole being. Oddly enough, it wasn't exactly a seethe of agitation or fury like it should rightfully be. The pain reminds him of the night his ankle was snapped effortlessly by a doe, and that through the injury he was only going to get better and stronger.
He rose from his make-shift nest of leaves and twigs as ritual required. Though this delightful morning brought to his nose a familiar scent of a hind.

The first meeting with this hind went particularly pleasant, Draven thought. This one ought to be equally lovely.

With nonchalance in his movements, the dark buck meandered in the direction of the scent. His tail flicked as the excitement grew, smoke consequently appearing on his breath. "Evening, hind." Draven made certain she would experience the same condescending words that he had in the first meeting.

A scowl formed on the blue hind's face as she noticed the sound of hooves approaching. And smoke, she could smell it in the air. What ever hope Sarla had for a meal, now was gone. Indeed, she wished to leave as well to hunt somewhere else, but would never run from an encounter. Sure enough, the smoking male came into view, his words stinging with poison as much as his vapors.

"Stag, it's nice to see you limping about. Though I believe all the noise you make limping about scared away my prey." Sarla fluffed her wings, giving him the same nonchalant attitude in return. Her tail flicking back and forth like a snake only gave away her true intentions. Be it a clash of words or a clash of horns, a moment with Draven was one to be excited for.

The buck matched Sarla's scowl with a fierce gnash of his fangs as lips curled to reveal them. Disappointingly enough, the words his opponent spat were hardly hurtful.
"If anyvone is to blame for jour 'prey' to run avay, it is jou ... Zhey got bored... jou're... less zhan intmidating."
Crimson eyes flicked over her form as he pretended to analyze and dismiss her potential.
"Anyvay, i insist jou leave. I vas trying to rest, but ze smell of jou is keeping me avake."

"Less than intimidating? This coming from the one who can only hobble." She laughed harshly and slowly walked forward, head slightly lowered. "I don't know how you can manage to smell anything over that stench of smoke. But if you'd like, I can knock your head in and put you back to sleep." With a chuckle, she raised and tilted her head to give him a critical look-over. "And maybe never let you wake up again."

That's more like it.
The words would have stung if Draven didn't find them all so appealing in the most twisted way.
"I zhought ve vent zhrough zis previously... I do not hobble, even on zhree legs." Draven let a flame emerge from his maw, and its bright yellow shape flickered across his dark lips hungrily. "I'd love to see jou try, doe." The dare was more of a raspy snarl than anything, as the hart threw down his horns towards her.
"Zis time, my love, I vill not give jou zhe pleasure of vounding me."

Sarla jerked to the side in hopes to miss Draven's horns but still feeling the bite of them on her shoulder. Using this momentum, she lunged forward to ram her body against him and hopefully topple the harmed herla over. "You will not get that pleasure, stag." >|

The black hind reared back, tucking her head as she pushed off on her back legs and bared down her horns on Draven as he had to her.

Draven instinctively caught his balance with his mangled leg, letting out a horrific shriek accompanied by a violent burst of flame towards his victim. He stumbled to the side, trying to recover from the immense pain that just consumed his being. The movement guarded him from Sarla's attack - catching her horns on his bone-like armor.
Draven thrashed his thick antlers aimlessly towards Sarla, seeming to have been swallowed up by his fury. "Jou vorthless beach," He roared, "Jou vill not see anozher day to get the opportunity to attack me again!"

Sarla panicked as the flames suddenly appeared on Draven, licking at her face and hair, causing her to shy away from him for a moment. She gasped for breath from the startle and glared death at the other Herla. For a moment she paced around him, wondering what would be the best means of attack.

Using her smaller body to her advantage, she quickly bound in towards him then turned to flee away again. But instead she kicked off with her back legs, hoping to catch his side with her hooves.

The black buck watched with a manic grin as the hind calculated her next move. He was well prepared for whatever damage it might inflict, but he wasn't ready to let her go unscathed from his fiery wrath. Draven's dark velvet fur rippled with anticipation, and his jaw shot open to release another blaze as Sarla bounded towards him. All of his senses were consumed by the flame, the thrill of the burn on his lips all too overwhelming. The black doe threw her back hooves at him, and Draven had failed to evade them, sending him in another clumsy tumble. This time he did everything in his power to avoid using his mangled leg, and collapsed into the foliage as a result.

In a jolt, Draven returned to his hooves and instantly activated his retaliation. The burst of power and energy was invested in a headbutt, with the intention of knocking his opponent over. Once the hind was down, Draven would ensue the attack with several violent strokes of his horns at Sarla's exposed underbelly. Draven's sick imagination decorated him with the blood red entrails and intestines on his victorious antlers.

The fire was horrible, but the stench of the smoke and her burnt hair was even worse. She managed not to shriek in panic, staying on course for her attack. With her opponent momentarily down, Sarla shook her head violently, trying to put out any ashes or flames. She had not expected Draven to get up so quickly, let alone with such a powerful attack. Her side turned to a fire of pain where his head hit, causing her to be thrown down violently. Panic overtook her and she lashed and kicked out with her hooves as best as she could, knowing she would not be getting back up before he attack. Her flailing did little good, his horns raking into both her legs and stomach, blood and pain both blooming across her body.

Sarla let out a bellow of pain and furry, jerking herself to get her legs under her and stand up. The side where Draven had hit before now gained deep cuts along with the bruises. “You b*****d.” She threw her horns at him wildly, her mind in pure, bloody red rage. Her body shook uncontrollably from the massive damage Draven had done in only one attack. The scent of blood soon overtook the stench of smoke as her wild movements did more harm that good. “You will PAY.”

Chanda bolted upright. She knew that scent. Blood. It filled the air, and a split second later, the horrible cry. Talons? Could they be so close?Chanda bolted, her hooves sure in the soft earth. A familiar thrill of adrenaline pushed her quicker along her path, but the sight she witnessed was something far different than what she had expected. Both herla she had seen before, but the sight horrified and angered her. The violent buck now dug his horns into the belly of the black hind, her wounds the source of the sickening smell of blood. An anger welled in her, and the hind slammed her back hoof into the earth, digging as deep as she could before charging forward.

Her head held low, tucked neatly to let her horns do their work as she charged headlong at the male. She aimed to send him flying, and then, perhaps, dig into him as he had the hind... Her sight had long gone red, not out of any particular blood lust, but rather a particular rage. To turn on one's own kind, and treat them as the talon treated the herla... In her mind, it was one of the greatest sins.. Something she would make him pay for.

Draven felt the tug of Sarla's flesh on his horns, and her scream of pain brought a sick shiver to roll across his body. The surge of rage he felt was instantly calmed, and the male withdrew himself to observe the damage as well as to avoid the flailing female. A flash of intense concern flickered across Draven's face as he realized how fatal that injury could be. It wasn't in his nature to express sorrow or compassion of any sort, though they did exist... and they raged vigorously within his soul, screeching to be released. The pain of it all was clearly plastered on his face.

"I vill pay...?" Draven looked almost dazed as he tried to recover from his inner turmoil. "Vell, of course I vill. Zhat is how it vorks, after all. I look forward to it." He was in the middle of managing a smile when Chanda's larger figure appeared. Draven didn't have time to react, and he was tossed like a ragdoll across the riverbank. His thoughts and actions were frozen completely. He was overwhelmed with shock, and blackness consumed his sight. Chanda's thick antlers dug into the delicate fur, not quite sharp enough to pierce the layer of flesh, but with enough force make something inside crack.

Draven twitched, senses still very dulled. That sound was all too familiar.

The pain was mind numbing, like a black hole ripping her thoughts apart. And that was just in her head. Her body shook uncontrollably, causing the tears in her skin to sear with pain. Gasping, Sarla stumbled back as Chanda drove through their fight. Everything was suddenly very confusing and out of place. This was HER fight. Not only was she losing but now someone else was trying to take down Draven. HER prey. HER fight. The rage in her mind blinded her from knowing just who this other person was. But none the less, they were interfering.

"He's. Mine." She gasped out, stepping forward on shaking limbs as she lowered her head for another charge. "I am going to kill him. Rip him apart for this." Her blue eyes were open wide from shock, but they never left Draven for a second.

Chanda lifted her head, pawing the ground as she stepped away from the fallen buck. The imapct had been massive, jolting down the entire length of her spine. She wasn't sure if she had meant the blow to be so heavy, but if nothing else it had certainly brought her back to her senses. Things were even now. The buck certainly would not be getting up, not without some heavy consideration of things at least. Narrowed eyes watched him as her sides heaved, air bursting from her in angry huffs. "This is your one chance." The odd buck might have been a horrid creature. He might have been the most loathsome thing on earth. And yet, Chanda could not, and would not, kill him. Not unless there was no choice in the matter. "I don't care what you do, but if you stand and try to fight me, I will kill you."

Her ears flicked at the sound of the wounded hind's voice. Hers? Chanda's tail flicked with an indignant flair. "Tough s**t." She half barked and rolled her eyes, but couldn't help but feel a pang of sympathy for the hind. Chanda herself would have far from liked to be the rescued damsel in distress.... Perhaps the hind had the same sense of pride... "....You'll fight him another day, and I won't step in the way, alright?" Her tone had evened out, something understanding taking note.
