Ralae! Look what I have found! It is shiny and long and scratchy. Can I keep it? Zabreth trundled up to her rider, holding a long hairbrush. It was indeed shiny, an off white color and had a great number of bristles.
Ralae sighed. Since Impressing Zabreth, her dragon had hidden all sorts of shells, rocks, shiny pieces of broken pottery and Faranth know's what else under her bed. In fact, Ralae had had to bring back several items that Zabreth had wandered off and collected on her own without permission. Rubbing her temples, the teen tried to explain, once again, why the green could not just take stuff. "No love. We have to return it. You went and found it. It is not part of your pile. Someone will want it back."
No one was there when I found it. So it is mine. I should keep it. The green replied stubbornly.
Not good.
"We are going to find the owner and give it back. Now come along," Ralae tried to use her firm voice.
Upset, the green sat down and refused to budge. Mine. Shiny.

Wykla was upset about something. She mutters under her breath. "Where IS my hairbrush?" Well actually she had been upset about something and returned to the candidate barracks to brush her hair. Brushing her hair always made her feel better. The strong bristles going through her black wavy hair as she sat with eyes half closed.
Now, however, she was mad because her brush was missing! She looks under her bed. "Shards! I was sure it was on my dresser." Sitting up she puts her hands on her legs and gives another look around. No it wasn't in plain sight. Wykla gives an exaggerated sigh. All the other candidates were out doing chores, no one should have been here to mess with her brush.
From the bed, Boreal watches his mistress' odd behavior. She was upset about something he could tell. What it was all about he wasn't quite sure really. His eyes whirl a little faster with flicks of yellow.

Ralae was not a big girl nor was she a particularly strong one. But to see a teenager literally tugging a very stubborn young green dragon along was not something any person was going to forget any time soon. First she would take Zabreth's head and tug and then when the dragonet managed to turn around, she would take her tail and do the same thing causing the green to squeal.
"You are going to return that brush and we are going to apologize. If you do not knock it off, I will send Cheer to tell Faynath on you! What will your dame think, acting like this?" Ralae threatened. Cheer, who had been simply flying alongside them, was now picking up on the mood of her mistress and chattering angrily at the green.
But it is my shiny! I found it! I was going to add it to my pile. Right on top facing towards the door. Zabreth whined. Once again, she dug her claws into the dirt. But the threat of Faynath and the angry sendings of Cheer did cause on this to happen. The brush fell from her mouth. There. I hope you are happy. I am sad.
"Very. Now where did you get it from?" Ralae demanded, treating her dragon like a little sibling instead of a partner.
I don't remember. I wandered until I saw it.
It was now covered in little groves created by the teeth and a slightly wet coating of dragon drool. Wincing, Ralae wondered if she had enough marks to replace such a nice thing.

A very careful and meticulous search had proved fruitless in turning up her brush. To make matters worse her hair was all disarrayed now and slightly sweaty. Wykla grumbles to herself. "Boreal you were here! Didn't you see who came and took my brush? Or were you too fast asleep from breakfast to noticed?" The girl puts her hands on her hips and glares balefully down at the little flit.
Boreal cheeps and droops his tail. Well he did happen to see who stole the brush. A green dragon wandered in and took it.
"What do you mean a green dragon?!" She growls. "They can't fit in here! And you can't really talk. Well since you know what she looked like, lets go stroll the bowl. Maybe if you spot her you'll remember." Shifting Boreal to her shoulder Wykla heads out. She targets places that green dragons abound and frequent.

Cheer was up ahead when she noticed Boreal. Chittering excitedly, the gold caught her friend up on what was going on. Her green dragon took a shiny thing and her girl was making her bring it back. How was his?
Ralae was doing her best to be the firm and patient rider. Though her nerves were sorely stretched. By now, several weyr folk had asked her if everything was okay and even another rider had asked if he should intervene. Shaking her head firmly no, Ralae spoke sharply to her dragon.
"Zabreth. I am so upset with you. I can't believe you are acting this way. Not only am I going to have to replace the brush but everyone is going to think you are a bad dragon." Ralae spoke angrily.
Ralae! Don't be mad! I am not a bad dragon! Look, I will take it back, watch me! Zabreth's eyes mirrored her distress as she picked up the hair brush and tried to remember where she had got the brush from... Up ahead, she noticed the bronze and a dim light went on. That bronze was there when I found it.

Forgetting his errand for a moment, Boreal leaves his mistress' shoulder to fly around the gold. He chitters back picking up her excitement. Shiny? What would her green dragon need with a shiny? His head tilts in puzzlement. Was it the green's shiny? Why was her's making the green return it? "Boreal!" the voice of his in a commanding and angry tone brings the little bronze back to his mission. His was M-A-D! He cringes, some green dragon had taken her hairbrush. He had watched the whole thing. Now she was looking for it and he was to help. Swiftly he returns to His' shoulder with an apolegetic cheep to Cheer.
She looks up to see a gold flit hoving over head talking to Boreal. Giving a sharp, "Boreal!" to return the flit to his duties. Wykla taps her foot as she waited for him to perch back on her shoulder. Shading her eyes she takes a second look at the gold. "Looks like Ralae's Cheer." An affirm cheep in her ear from Boreal tells her that yes that's indeed Cheer. "If she's here then Ral should be nearby. Maybe she'll help me look too." Turning she scans the bowl for her friend.

Cheer's eyes were spinning with excitement! What a day this was, she tried to convey to Boreal that the shiny was not her greens but anothers. And her girl was upset with green but Cheer was a good flit.
Curious, Cheer came over and peered at Wykla's face. The girl! Not Her Girl. No girl was as good as Hers but hey! The gold sent a picture of the shiny object and hers. See what was happening?
Zabreth was death marching behind Ralae as they made their way across the boy. The green was no longer chattering or complaining but accepting the fact that she had done wrong. With any luck, the person would not want the shiny and she could keep it.
Ralae noticed Cheer talking to a bronze and then go fly in front of a girl. Oh! Wykla! How nice! Maybe she would recognize whose brush Zabreth has stolen. "Wykla! Over here!"

Boreal nods, and accepts the fact it wasn't the greens. But why would the green want it then? He gives a happy chirp, glad she wasn't in trouble. He didn't know what to think of the green. Of course this wasn't Her girl, this was His girl. He trills amused the gold would think that. When the flit shows him the picture, he rustles his wings in agitation. It looked like a beat up version of His' brush, the one they were trying to find.
Wykla blinks in surprise as the gold flit suddenly hangs in front of her face, obscuring her view of everything with her beating wings. "Cheer, what are you doing?! Go find Ralae." She sounds irritable. When she hears someone calling her name she tries to look around the flit. It sounded like Ralae.
Moving around the flit she sees that it is Ralae. Behind her followed a green dragonette. She gives a big wave and starts at a brisk walk towards them.

His? Oh dear. The shiny was not so shiny now. Cheer chirped apologetically. Hopefully everything would be okay.
Ralae waved to Wykla, unaware of the flit exchange and that her dragon had...well...pretty much eaten a brush. Smiling, she moved faster so that they could meet in the center of the bowl. "Hey there! Maybe you can help me and Zabreth out?"
Zabreth had stalled and sat down trying to hide behind her rider. Sooner or later, they would find the person who owned the shiny and she would have to give it back. Her pile would never be complete.

Of course it would be ok. He trills to His to make her feel better. He would make sure it was ok. His eyes whirl with confidence.
Wykla grins as she meets her friend. "Ralae! I haven't seen much of you since the hatching! Have you been doing well? Is that your dragon? I'm sorry I didn't get to congratulate you sooner. You were talking to the other new riders and I didn't want to interrupt." She looks curiously around Ral to see the green. "Hullo there."
She turns her attention back to what Ralae is saying. "Oh! Sure I can help." She gives a sigh. "When I saw Cheer I was going to ask you to help me. Boreal hasn't been much help." She gives her flit a poke. "Non-sense about green dragons indeed." She mutters to herself. "So what did you need help with?"
Boreal squeaks when he gets poked in the side. This was really going to take some effort.

Oh dear. Yours is not paying attention. There is much important going on. Cheer tried to tell Boreal that maybe hers could help as well. They seemed to be getting along well.
"I tried to get over to you doing the Feast but then Zabreth wanted to talk to others. And Moriath's rider wanted a word with us." Ralae shrugged. Lessons will be starting up within the next day or two. And then it will be interesting. I will have to keep her from wandering. Right now, she keeps disappearing on me and finding things that do not belong to her."
Zabreth kept low. Maybe they would forget about her.
"Maybe we can help each other. I need to return something to somebody, I have no clue who it belongs to and what do you have to do?" Ralae asked.

Boreal cheeps. No His wasn't paying attention to him right now, but she seemed some happier since meeting up with Hers. That was important. They should get them together more.
Wykla smiles. "It's alright. It was right for you to meet your fellow riders. Do you like them? Are they friendly?" Wykla peeks around Ralae. "Hello Zabreth. It's nice to meet you finally."
She turns her attention back to her friend. "Oh! That would be great." Wykla giggles, "Bit of a kleptomaniac is she? She can't fly yet, so you could scratch off any of the high weyrs." For a moment she thinks. "And anything that's too small for her." She glances at Cheer. "That is unless she's gotten Cheer to help her." Wykla gives a sigh. "I've lost my beautiful brush. It is my favorite. Ivory white handle and long black bristles that are so soft it's like...." She blinks trying to figure out something similar. "Well its really soft!"

Cheer gave a half whistle and then went to settle back with Hers. Yes. Together hunting would be fun! Cheer liked food and shinies just like her Green.
"Yes, I have to keep returning things and making apologies. She likes to make piles and shape things. A bit of an artistic streak..." Ralae trailed off as Wykla described the brush. In fact, the teen went pail and gulped. "Ivory with black bristles?"
She turned and looked back at Zabreth who was sitting as nicely as possible, the brush now in her mouth, and eyes whirling a happy green as she had forgotten why she was in trouble to begin with and was happy to be with Hers. "Um... I don't know how to tell you this..."

Boreal watches the gold and flips his wings against his back. He loved food and oiling; not so sure about shinies. Seemed like a lot of trouble if Hers was making the green give it back.
Wykla's eye widen, hearing the list of Zabreth's transgressions. "Oh shards! That must be embarrassing. Artistic hu?" She breaths slowly to think for a moment. "Weeeeell. You could get a mess of objects then hide them around your place for her to find. Better yet give her only a couple handful of them and see what she'll do with them. Ya know, change 'em up."
Something in the girl's voice catches Wykla's attention. "Ralae what is it?" She catches sight of the brush in Zabreth's mouth and tears form in her eyes. Her favorite brush was now just a dragon's chew toy. She'd spent a year saving to buy a good brush. And when the trader had come she knew that brush had been made for her.
Sniffling back tears, she stalks up to the little dragon. She grabs for the brush to try and tug it out of the dragon's mouth. "Bad dragon... sniffle.... How could.... sniffle.... you do that?" Wykla couldn't believe her friend's dragon had actually taken her brush. Now there was tooth marks all in the ivory handle and the bristles were all bent. It'd never be the same again.
Sensing his mistress' distress he takes off from her shoulder and circles around the green's head. Chittering loudly and scolding. She had upset His!

Cheer's eyes immediately turned red! How dare he scold HER GREEN! Over a shiny. His could find a new one. Cheer scolded Boreal for trying to scold Hers. Not good.
Ralae tried very hard not to cry. This was not a good thing at all! But she couldn't let Wykla hurt Zabreth either. The older girl got in between the girl and dragon and tried to get them both to let go of the brush. "Stop it! Stop it! It's a brush, Wykla! I can pay you back or make a new one! You are going to hurt Zabreth and then everyone will know!"
The girl addressed her dragon mentally. Let go, Zabreth! Wykla is my only real friend! It belongs to her and you have to give it back! Don't be upset.
The green dragon eye's were a mix of yellow and red. How could this girl who was not hers just try to take the brush and shout at her. The dragonet sat down on her hunches and was prepared to play tug of war when Ralae shouted at her. But...But...
Reluctantly, she let go of the brush so that Ralae could grab it.
