He had spent nine months extremely ill in the wagon. Once he had healed up enough to be able to move around himself...Kyil just had to get out. He was not used to spending so much time being a burden and it ate at him deeply. So when there was a opportunity, he took it to get out. Mikaril was out doing guard duty, and Ssussun was entertaining he though. So...he opened the door of her wagon so he could sit upon the steps. Just because he was getting out did not mean he was going to wander off and get in trouble! He had...Ssussuns....daughter after all.
Kyil sat with the pale haired girl wrapped in a green blanket on his knees. her dark pink colored eyes looked up into his own brighter ones with curiosity. She was such a good little girl! She rarely wept, though right now she had certainly teared up. At the look of that sweet little face so ready to be sad, he could not stop himself from leaning forwards to kiss her forehead.
"Oh...weep not my baby. Mikaril and Ssussun will be back soon. They just have to work..." Clearly she did not understand his words yet, as the tears continued to glimmer in the corners of her eyes. So Mikaril began to rock her gently in his arms and sang to the little one.
"Hush now my child Please don’t cry. These dreams are mild So you cannot die.
I will be with you side by side Dreams will not hurt you in your mind. Face the fears that make you Run.
Soon you shall see what you must Find. Just rest your head and please don’t Hide."
The lullabye may not have been fitting for the moment, but the soft sound of his singing voice seemed to set the girl at ease and the tears were batted away.

Vierkadeyl was doing what she always did- listening. And watching. The sound mage sat with her knees tucked up under her chin, long arms dangling at her side, making aimless runes on the stone surface. She was underneath a colorful awning, behind the group of parked wagons. Vierka could hear wagon doors opening and closing. She tuned it all out until something made her jump.
Her hearing was sensitive and she could quickly focus it. Sound was how the mage saw the world. It was startling to hear a door shut behind her. She had forgotten for a moment that not all of the wagons were parked together. Through the glimmering awning fabric, Vierka could not make out anything by sight. But she could still hear.
The names of Mikaril and Ssusun caught her attention and she wondered immediately who was speaking. There had been so many rumors and whispers throughout the circus. She knew Ssussun was not around, she would hear her easily if she were, and as the lullaby began her curiosity won out. The singing was very nice and she smiled softly in confusion. How strangely emotional and loving. It was absurd. That tone in his voice, what an aberration it was to a pair of ears that had heard a good many number of things in the Underdark.
The mage silently walked the long way around the tent and up behind the wagon. She wanted to walk by the singer, not even intent on stopping. And then she came in view of the pair. Vierka stopped, her slim dancer's form hidden easily by a large stack of stage trunks.
Something about the song made her intervene. A light manipulation of the sound waves warbling out of the male's throat sent a gentle breeze, something foreign to the deep Underdark, flowing around the pair. The song's melody resonated. The quiet mage started to walk towards the wagon.

There now. As Kyil looked down into Mikkyila's face he could see her near tearful experience had ended. "There is a good girl." He gently murmured to the baby. He had not taken notice of the colorful lights that had woven themselves in the air, due to his complete concentration on the bundled form he held. Mikaril had cautioned him before that his lack of astuteness would be trouble for him in the future. A drow who did not have the hyper vigilince in keeping track of his surroundings was often easily ambushed after all. Kyil had grown up in a veritable safe house though, and when there were walls about him he did not feel the need to be as cautious as he really ought to be.
Mikky on the other hand had seen the curious show, and her pink eyes blinked widely in search of more pretty things. While Kyil held her, she wriggled a arm free of the green blanket and grasped her pudgy fingertips in the air. Kyil tilted his head, his eyes blinking curiously at his daughter.
"What is it Mikky? What is it you want?" He looked upwards then and fell silent at the sight of Vierkadeyl approching. Slowly he wrapped his arms about Mikky and held her more firmly against his chest. Who was this? She was not Ssussun, that was for sure. Kyil glanced about to his left and right uneasily.

Vierkadeyl watched the baby, struggling as it could to reach after the disturbance in the air.
Hm. So this was Sssussun's wagon. And this babbling stranger with the baby? Now this was interesting. As much as she had observed, and the quiet mage observed and listened very well, the business of Ssussun had been very mysterious. There were many rumors, about everyone in the circus to be truthful, and Vierka thought most of them were nonsense. But this, this was fact.
A good girl. She thought about the male's words. Who was he as only a male to tell her that? Lloth test and preserve the child. Was this the father, maybe? Vierkadeyl's brow furrowed. She did not know what to think. It was some kind weakness festering in the circus then, if there were any chance he was actually entrusted to raise a female. Impossible. Maybe he was doing nothing more than trying to entertain her while her caretaker was away. Servants couldn't be trusted not to pass their charge off on another hapless servant.
Something about his nervousness, however, made Vierkadeyl feel uneasy. She had stumbled onto something.
Vierkadeyl herself was very sensitive to this subject. It was trying for her to encounter the pair and see how he interacted so gently with the child whether or not it was his own. Her own parents had been too soft and doting. They had been heretics and deserved everything that happened to them at the hands of the noble that had taken her. Everything.
"I did not intend to disturb her. I manipulate the music in the shows all the time, and I didn't even think before I did it. I think she liked it though."

Kyil's unease stemmed, he was sure, from the fact he had not expected any to wander by while he was out of the wagon. A part of him felt as if it were wrong of him to have even come as far as the steps in the condition he was in. After months sick and laid up in the small bed, his muscles felt strain at walking more then a few minutes. It was a sore disappointment to be unable to carry out the duties he so loved.
With the female's continued presence, Kyil shifted his hold on Mikkyila and lifted her to his chest. Cradling her there with one palm upon the back of her small head, he forced himself to calm his rapidly beating heart and observe the female. She was clearly one of the circus folk. Did that make her any less of a concern? Kyil was still attempting to grasp whether or not he was supposed to view these others as threats or not. Ssussun assured him in such a flippant and self assured manner that none of the circus drow were a threat to him, Mikaril, or Mikkyila. He felt his daughters movements, the fine hair on the back of her head brushed against his palm as she shifted her head from side to side.
"Amnamnam." She babbled softly, and Kyil felt a slight tug on his hair. The babe fisted her little pudgy fingers into the long white length of Kyils hair and began to gum on the fisted hand as she peered about in the air searchingly.
"I am...apologetic that I was not observant enough to see what it was you did." Kyil spoke after his hesitation. His pink eyes fell down to Mikkyila, as she began to fuss once more in his arms. "I believe she liked it as well. She has been very fussy today. I do not think it is her belly. I have fed her and done what I could to ensure she has no gas. I am...a bit at a loss as to what she wants though."

The male didn't seem to be very calm with her around. Vierka didn't mind. Her quiet curiosity rooted her in place beside the wagon no matter how unwanted she might be.
What does a child want? A lot of things. Vierkadeyl watched the murmuring girl. She worked the same simple effect again, the child's babbling catching right out of its throat and expanding in playful bursts of light.
A one word answer, quick and brutal. "Discipline."
"She won't let you forget that is sure, she is already in control." Vierka chuckled, smiling sweetly at the small female and waved a hand, slowing the lights and dimming them. She hoped it was calming. Vierka's eyes were still, but her voice soft, "Sometimes they are just hard to please."

The reaction to the lights was the same as before. Mikky's head lifted and turned so she could stare in wonder at the glowing lights. Her hands lifted up, and she grasped at them until it was that they faded from her sight.
Kyil's brows knit as he tried to understand what it was the mage girl was speaking of. Looking down at Mikky in his lap, he shifted his grip and ran his fingers over the fine white hairs on her head. "Permit me to disagree." He murmured softly as he continues to stroke Mikky's head. "I will agree that it is hard to please one so small..but I do not believe she is so capable of thought yet as to be able to manifest such thoughts and desires."
Mikky's face scrunched a little as the lights dimmed from her sight. It was the small waving that turned her pink eyes back to Vierka. Blinking them, she waved one of her pudgy little hands in mimic of the woman's own. "Ahbababa." She babbled again, bringing a faint smile to Kyil's face despite himself.
"I suspect that, perhaps, she was only bored. She has livened up a bit and seems less unhappy now."

Vierka was silenced for a moment, not sure what to make of the male's disagreement. It sounded quite foolish to her ears how literal the male had taken her words. Vierka laughed. Of course the male wouldn't understand. He blew her words off without putting any of them together. The mage's mind was fussing with the concept. She could not help it. This stranger's attitudes were a puzzle to her and puzzles were something she loved to pick at.
Now any drow, she had thought, would have followed her logic and came to the same conclusion. What one wants for is what one lacks and one needs, but it also isn't yours to choose. It's never your choice. A matter of judgment -and not the child's- was at stake.
Manifest thoughts and desires. It didn't matter if the child could! The difference in his words hit her then, and she couldn't help but wonder at how different their logic had been over such a simple question.
What she wants!
He took it literally, and there was a much more basic flaw being exposed here through a small misunderstanding. The child's desires were important to him. He was sitting here, so softly and sweetly, privileging her as an individual. While Vierka, she had only considered what should be wanted for it. Hmph.
But- who knew how involved Ssussun was here. Vierka couldn't take any chances. Her curiosity would have to be kept in check.
Quietly, Vierka straightened with a suddenness and the magic lights dissipated, the sound pulled out of the air like a vacuum. "There is nothing to disagree with there," The female mused, "I simply hear our words got a little muddled." The sound mage spoke of hearing things like others spoke of speaking or thinking them.
"But you have an intriguing train of thought."

As Vierka tossed over her thoughts in her head, Kyil kept his hands occupied with gently straitening out the little dress his child was wearing.
Mikky fussed in his hands. With the attractive colors and lights gone, the little girl returned to her previous fussing. Kyil shifted his grip on her, and gently lifted her up so she was standing on her little feet. The change in her position with Kyils cradling hands allowed for a bit more movement on her part. Mikky lifted a foot, and set it down. The movement seemed to please the baby, as in the next few moments she began to stamp her feet and wave her hands.
Kyil smiled at the antics of his baby, then turned his attention back to Vierka. The way she spoke seemed a little strange...but as it seemed she was saying pretty much the same thing to him...well perhaps they just were not too clear what the other was exactly meaning?
"I am pleased that you find my manner of thought curious rather then offensive." He spoke with a faint nod of his head.

"It is curious," Vierka smiled at the child as she waved her limbs in protest. What was it like then, to think about a child that way? She didn't know. Certainly not from her own childhood.
The mage raised a hand and lightly pushed a finger towards one of the girl's tiny waving hands. A babbling ripple of bright sounds followed and faded gently.
"It has been a while since I have heard a child around the circus." Vierka was unsure how much would be appropriate to say - she never really knew what was appropriate to say- so she didn't dare ask anything too specific.

Almost instantly Mikky's pink eyes snapped to the show of light. Unlike her mothering father, her little orbs were not completely accustomed to the darkness. Living in a wagon with a fire enchantress helped keep her eyes more acceptable to the presence of light. At the same time however, her fascination with the light ultimately drew her attention like a figurative moth. Mikky's hands snapped out towards the light, desperate to grab the pretty presence before it faded away again.
Kyil watched his daughter, so childishly innocent in her searching of the light. His own pink eyes drifted towards Vierka and a faint smile teased his lips upwards. "Truely? Where have you been hiding then I wonder. A circus tends to draw the attraction of a great many children as far as I have seen." He lightly jested. Mikky's hand flailed, and smacked hard against Kyil's arm. He blinked, giving a slightly start, and looked at the babe, who currently had her face scrunched up in dismay. Kyil moved his hand to gently encompass the babe's fist, and he brought it up to his lips to give a small kiss. As he did so, he blew gently on the skin between his thumb and forefinger. The resulting "Pffft!' sound distracted the child, so her fussy expression melted into a giggle of delight.
