Magicus Harmonia

A man ran though the streets of the town. Thankfully it was night, not to mention the strong downpour from the storm, so no one was around to witness this. Not that it would hurt him now. Anyone finding out about his secret was the least of his concerns. Only during the brief moments he was under a street light could someone make out his short black hair. Even though he was still in his suit, no one would surely be able to recognized him. Besides, his average build would just match up with a lot of other people in the town. Not even if someone got a good look into his brown eyes. No, his secret was safe. Not that it would matter in a few moments.

He came to a stop when there was a sudden crash behind him. Before he knew what was there, all the lights around him went out.

Now this IS funny. Here I thought it only rained at the end in movies.
He leaned up against a building, his right arm covering the wound across his stomach. There was a lot of blood around it.

The scene flashed to a funeral. It was now day, but still raining. There are a lot of people in black surrounding a coffin.

The scene returned to the rainy night. There was an explosion at the building the man was leaning on. He ran ahead of the blast and darted into an alleyway, stopping only when he noticed it was a dead end.

The scene was back at the funeral. The people in black seem to be mostly young girls. Some just crying while others asked why their professor had to die. The picture above the coffin was a man in a work suit, with short black hair and brown eyes.

It returned to the man. He held out a staff in front of him. “Well, looks like our contract is voided now, doesn’t it?” The staff lit up and flew out of his hand, vanishing into the stormy, night sky. A flash of lightning reveals a smirk on the man’s face. “Figures.” There was a monstrous roar not far away.

The scene returned to the funeral. The coffin began to lower into the ground. Most of the people began to walk away, but one remained. The girl’s long red hair stood out against the black dress. She just stared down as the coffin finally reached the bottom. “Why? Why did you have to leave us?”

Back to the man. I know they will just send someone to take my place, but with a power like this demon, who could possibly beat it? The man held out his left hand and light formed in it. Soon it took shape of a sphere with symbols floating around in it. But I won’t go quietly. I’ll fight with what little power I have left. “Glacialis tempestas!” The scene went black.

Episode 1: The new guardian… is a kid?

“What!? What do you mean I have to go to Japan!?” A young boy slammed his hands down on a desk. “Why dean Wilhelm!? Tell me that! I’m not even out of the academy yet!”

A man behind the desk let out a sigh. “Evan, will you just calm down? It’s not my decision to send you. I am just following orders.” The dean could easily see the anger building up in those grey eyes, even through the boy’s long, silver bangs. They were usually parted mid way ending about the middle of his face, but after his little outburst, they were covering most of it. He was surprised that the outburst didn’t cause Evan to loose his glasses.

“Orders? So they are ordering me to go!? I thought they only ordered graduates! Why am I receiving orders!?” Evan crossed his arms.

“I’m sorry Evan, but there is nothing that can be done to change this. You are to transfer to a school in Japan immediately. Just think of this as advanced training.” The dean wrote his signature on some paperwork. “There, it is done.” He looked up to Evan with a smile. “Just do as you are ordered and you will more then likely be back in a week or two.” His face turned serious. “Just remember, no one is to find out about…”

“Yeah, yeah. I know. Keep it a secret. No one is to know. Blah, blah, blah. It‘s not like they don’t cram it into our heads enough at the academy.” Evan turned around and made his way to the door, but stopped half way out of it. “Don’t worry. I have no friends and I’ve grown up here for 15 years. What makes you think I’ll get to know anyone in just a couple weeks?” With that, he closed the door to the office behind him.

“Yes, but this will definitely be different then here.” The dean stared down at the paperwork he just signed. I just hope he’s ready for this assignment.

###

She liked it when she left the window opened the night before. It meant waking up to a nice morning breeze. Mira slowly sat up and brushed her long, red hair out of her face. She turned and looked out the window. It was a week now. A week since that horrible day. She had a quick flash back of the funeral and looked down.

“You’re thinking about professor Linhardt again, aren’t you?”

Mira looked over to see her mom was now standing at her door. “Oh, good morning mom. What makes you think that?”

Her mother let out a sigh. “I know it’s hard to loose a mentor, but you can’t let it keep you from going on with your life.”

“Is she still mopping about that teacher?” Her dad appeared behind her mother. “I swear, the way she has been acting, it’s almost as if she was really close with him. Too close, if you get my meaning.”

Her mother turned to him. “Will you knock it off? Do you have to get started first thing in the morning?”

“I’m just saying, a girl morns over a male teacher like that, it’s just suspicious.” He pointed at her mother. “It’s all because you had to send her to an all girls school.”

“Oh god, here we go again!”

“I’m just saying, if she was in a normal school, she would be getting involved with boys her age, not ours.”

Mira stood up quickly. “It wasn’t like that at all. The professor was very dear to me, yes, but not like that. He was more like a fa….” She stopped herself.

“A what?” He father glared at her angrily. “A what!? You were going to say father weren’t you.” He slammed his hand on the wall. “Weren’t you!?”

Mira jumped at the slam, but looked down at the ground and refused to answer. It wouldn’t matter. Now that he was started, no matter what she said, it was going to just make things worse. No, she knew it would be better to just stay quiet.

“Honey, will you calm down!?”

“Calm down? I will not calm down in my own house! I have a right to voice my own opinion!”

Her mother put her hands on her hips. “No one is saying you can’t! Just do you have to do it in such a loud manner?”

“So once again, you are taking her side!?”

“I’m not taking anyone’s side! I just think you need to calm down!”

He turned around and stormed off, her mother close behind. “I’ve had about all I will of this! If she doesn’t straighten up soon, I’m shipping her off to a private school!”

“You will not! I don’t see why you always have to make a big deal out of….”

As their voices dimmed away, Mira slowly sat down on her bed. She couldn’t take it anymore. Fighting. Always fighting. Why couldn’t they just get along? A tear slowly slid down her cheek. No, she didn’t have time for this. She had to get ready for school. If she didn’t, they would be back. She didn’t want to see anymore fighting this morning. As she finished getting dressed, a familiar voice came though the window.

“I see it’s another lovely morning for you Mira.”

Mira turned to see her friend Rein standing at her window. She smiled. “Yeah, I take it you heard them?”

Rein looked into the room and over at the doorway. “With the window opened, I think the whole block heard it.” She looked to Mira. “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have come so early.”

Mira shook her head. “No, it’s okay Rein. It’s not your fault. I should learn to keep my window shut.” She walked over to a desk and shoved some books from it into a book bag. “I’ll meet you out front in a moment.”

“Okay. Just don’t be too long. We can’t afford to be tardy again.” Rein walked away from the window with a giggle.

Mira gave a small smile and finished getting ready.

###

The two girls were walking along the side of a street. They were both quiet for awhile until Mira broke the silence.

“Hey Rein?”

“Yeah”

“How long do you think it will be until they replace our professor?” She looked at Rein, awaiting her answer.

Her friend just shook her head. “Still thinking about him? You guys must have really been close.” She looked down at the sidewalk as they walked. “Well, I don’t know. He was a very good professor. I’m sure they are going to take time and try to find someone suitable to take his place.”

Mira looked forward. “Yeah, I guess you’re right. They wouldn’t want to just throw anyone into the position.” There was silence for a moment. “I just hope they find someone soon. Something new might do the class some good. They need something to help them get over the loss.”

“Yeah. Everyone took it pretty hard.” Rein looked over to Mira and smiled after a moment. “But don’t worry. I’m sure they will find you someone cute. I would hate for there to be rumors about you with someone who‘s not.“ She smiled and took off into a jog.

Mira gave her a weird look. “Hey, what is that supposed to mean!? Wait, get back here!” She took off after the now laughing Rein. “Get back here Rein! I can’t believe you just said that!”

###

The school was fairly large for an all girls school. It was only middle school and up so it was pretty big when compared to public schools that had all grades. It actually consisted of four different buildings. The main one was the three story classrooms, followed by the gymnasium, and then the library. The forth building was the dorms for those who opt to live on campus.

The classroom was filled with chatter as the two entered in. It looked like most of the students were here today. Probably the most since the tragedy last week. A lot of the girls had missed a day or two because of it. Mira and Rein were among the very few that forced themselves to come every day, even though it was very hard.

After a quick glance, Rein gave Mira a smile. “Looks like things are starting to return to normal a bit.”

Mira returned the smile. “Yeah. That’s good to see.” But behind the smile, she wasn’t really happy. No matter what, it would never be back to normal. Not without professor Linhardt.

The two walked over to their desks and sat down. Mira had barely put down her bag when someone leaned over to her.

“Hey, did you hear?”

She looked at her a bit confused. Of course she hadn’t heard, she just arrived. “Hear what?”

“We are getting a new student today.”

“Really? That’s good I guess.”

The girl straightened back up. “So you really haven’t heard have you? It’s not just a new student. This one is a special case.”

“What do you mean? Like she’s a little bit loopy?”

The girl laughed a bit. “No, no. It’s not that. The rumor going around is that the new student is actually a…”

Suddenly, the substitute professor walked into the room, interrupting the conversation. “Alright girls, take your seats.” After everyone had sat down and was paying attention, the professor continued. “By now I’m sure the rumor has been around so there is no need to try and explain much. I’ll just get right to the point. I would like you all to meet your temporary classmate… Evan.”

The door slid open and a young boy with silver hair and glasses stepped into the room. The students just stared as the boy made his way next to the professor. He didn’t say anything, just stared back at the girls. Mira gave him a look over. A bracelet he had on his right arm caught her eye. Wait, it was the same as…

Finally, one of the girls stood up. “What is going on here? He… He’s a boy!

“Yeah”

“What’s a boy doing in an all girls school!?”

A lot of girls began to stand up and pitch in. Some for him being there, some against. After a few moments, the whole class was in an uproar.

“Will you all calm down!?” The professor slammed his hand on the desk, drawing the attention of the class. Soon everyone was quiet and sitting again. “Now if you will give me a moment, I will explain. You see, Evan here is only going to be in town for a few weeks at most. Due to the fact that all the other schools in town are currently full, we have decided to let him study here for his short time in town.”

As the info began to sink in, the girls began to talk again. Evan couldn’t believe this. He attempted everything he could think of to get out of this school. Why did the only school with faculty who knew about his secret have to be an all girls school? This was going to be a big pain. Hopefully he would be out of here in only a couple weeks. He let out a sigh and looked to the professor. “Can I go to a seat now?”

The professor looked down at him. “Yeah, sure. Take an empty seat for now. We will worry about arrangement when the rest of the students are here.”

Evan gave a nod and went to an empty seat next to a window in the back. Most of the girls quieted down and watched as he moved. The way they watched him made him feel like a criminal or something. He let out a sigh after sitting down. This was going to be a long few weeks. Why he had to attend a school was beyond him. He wasn’t here to learn. School had nothing to do with his assignment at all.

It was only for a moment, but the boy made eye contact with the girl next to him. She stiffened up and quickly looked down. She couldn’t believe it. Why did he have to sit next to her? Now how was she supposed to do school work with a boy next to her? Her long brown hair hung down into her face, hopefully hiding her red cheeks. She didn’t know what to do. She wasn’t used to a boy being this close. Now he was going to be there all the time? No, the professor said they would worry about seating arrangements later. Yes, she would just have to deal with it for a little bit.

“Aluna? Are you okay?”

She nearly jumped when Rein spoke to her. “Y… yeah. I’m… fine.”

Rein smiled at the situation. “Still uncomfortable around boys I see. Well, now you will just have to get used to it, won’t you?”

“I… umm…” She looked over at Evan for just a moment, then returned downward. “I guess… At least until everyone is back.”

Rein giggled and looked back toward the front as class was finally starting and everyone had calmed down.

###

Evan was outside walking around. Unknown to him, or at least that’s what he wanted them to think, was a group of girls slowly following around. He let out a sigh. Did they intend to follow him all of lunch break? He didn’t have time for this. He wanted to use this time to investigate the aura he felt around this school. It was faint, but there was something dark here. He had a good feeling why this school had some people who knew. There was definitely something here, but did he really have to attend this school? Couldn’t he just… oh it was no use. He was stuck here until his job was complete. Complaining was just going to add more time to it.

The girls tried their best to not look suspicious as they followed Evan. Any time it looked like he was going to turn around, they would separate into smaller groups and try to look like they are doing other things. He would return to moving and the group would reform, with Mira at the front. Even though she was with them, her reason was completely different then the others. Some were there to watch him and see if he does anything bad. Other to watch him because they are interested in seeing what he’s like. But not her. No, she had a completely different objective.

“Mira? What the hell is everyone doing?”

Mira turned suddenly to see Rein’s older sister, Serina, standing next to her. She was focused so much on Evan, she didn’t notice her approach. “We are following him.” She pointed over to Evan.

Serina looked and smiled. “So that’s him? Wow, he’s a cutie. But why are you all following him around?”

Some of the girls just mumbled something while others looked away. Mira looked around at everyone, then finally spoke up. “Well… we are making sure that he isn’t going to places he shouldn’t. You know, like the locker room, or places like that.”

“You really think the dean would allow someone like that to attend this school? I’m pretty sure that he has been told a lot of things he can’t do.” She smiled for a moment. “I think you girls are just surprised to see a boy. This is probably the first time in the world for some of you.”

“It… it’s not like that. We are just making sure everything is okay. That’s all.”

“Mmm hmm. I see. What ever you girls say. Well, I’ll leave you all alone. Besides, he’s getting away.” She pointed just as Evan rounded a corner and was out of sight.

“Crap!” Mira and the others ran over and round the corner. As soon as they did, there was a sudden strong wind. The girls had to close their eyes and cover their faces for a moment. When the wind died down, Evan wasn’t there. They all looked around, but there was no sign of him.

“We lost him?”

“How?”

“Where could he have gone in such a short time?”

Mira looked around one more time. “Maybe he went around another corner or something already. Come on girls. We had better find him before he does something wrong.” And with that, they all took off.

Evan smiled slightly as he watched them all from the roof. He was now holding onto a wooden staff with a three-forth circle for the top. In the middle of it was a blue tear shaped gem that seemed to just be floating in place. Finally, he had lost them. Now he could conduct his research without worrying about being followed. For now at least. He held his staff out in front of him.

“Dimitto!”

The staff vanished with a flash of light and Evan lowered his arm. It was time to get to work.

###

It was a rare occurrence when Aluna ate lunch in the cafeteria. Normally she was in the library, reading a book or something, but today was different. There was a boy at the school and she didn’t wish to risk running into him or something. No, today she would play it safe and eat here with the other girls. Then she wouldn’t have to worry about running into him.

“Well this is definitely something new.” Rein sat down next to her. “What happened? Did they closed the library for something?”

Aluna gave a slight smile but no other response.

“Let me guess. You decided to eat here because it has the least possible chance for you to run into the new boy, right?”

Aluna looked down to her food and blushed.

“I knew it.” Rein patted her on the back. “You still think boys are going to eat you or something don’t you?”

“No! It’s not like that.” Aluna continued to look down.

“So you’re not afraid of them anymore? That’s great! Let’s go meet Evan.”

“No!” Aluna blushed more at the fact she just yelled. “I… I’m fine here.”

Rein smiled and began to eat her food. Aluna slowly returned to eating too. It was a little bit before anything was said again.

“So. Why aren’t you eating with Mira? I thought that’s what you always do?”

“Oh, not today. She decided to skip lunch and lead the boy hunter brigade.”

Aluna looked over to her. “Boy hunter brigade? What’s that? Is it a new club?”

Rein giggled for a moment. “It was a joke. There is no such thing. It’s just what I am calling all the girls that are following that poor boy around. For some reason, about half our class decided to follow him around during lunch. Didn’t you notice how empty this place is?”

Aluna looked around but didn’t answer.

“Oh yeah, I forgot. You normally don’t eat here so you wouldn’t know the normal number. Sorry.”

“It… it’s okay.” Aluna finished her food and just looked down at her plate. “More than likely I’ll be returning to the library tomorrow.”

Rein stopped eating for a moment. “Why? I kind of like having you around for lunch. I think you should make a habit out of it. You could sit with Mira and me.” Her eyes brightened as she came up with an idea. “We could be your personal boy bodyguards.”

Aluna started to say something but then could tell by the smile that Rein was just joking around. It was actually a little funny. It was slow, but Aluna soon started to laugh.

“See? Being here is good for you.”

“Maybe, I don’t know. I will have to…” Then something caught her eye. Did something just fly pass the window? It was only a second, but she could have sworn it was Evan. She quickly got up and walked over to the window. Aluna opened it up and looked out. First up, there was nothing. Then down. There was Mira with a bunch of girls looking around. After a moment, something was said and they took off. Aluna watched them for a moment, then looked up again. Her eyes widened. She could hear a boy’s voice and then saw a flash of light. She waited a moment, but there was nothing else.

“Aluna? Is something wrong?”

Aluna slowly closed the window and returned to her seat next to Rein. “No… everything’s fine. I thought I saw something but I think it was just a bird.” But something inside her didn’t agree. She knew what she saw. That boy just went past the window, up toward the roof, but how? They were on the second floor. How was that even possible? And then there was that light? Something was wrong here.

###

School was finally over. Mira stretched and let out a yawn. As she lowered her arms, she caught sight of Evan leaving. Maybe she should follow him. If she could get him alone, then she could find out if he was who she thought he was. Rein exited the school and walked up to Mira.

“Man, I’m glad school’s over with. Want to go do something?”

Mira turned to her. “Nah, I have something I have to take care of. Sorry, I’ll see you tomorrow Rein. Later.” She turned around and ran off in the direction she saw Evan go. Rein just stood there a moment before shrugging and heading home.

Evan was stumped. He had searched all he could during the lunch break and nothing. The aura he felt didn’t change so he didn’t get any closer or further from the source. He was going to search again after school, but decided to go home and wait till night. Then no one would be there and he wouldn’t have to worry about anyone finding out his secret. But what could the aura be from? It couldn’t be a person. The aura would have changed through out the day, but it stayed the same strength. No, it had to be an object or something and he had better find it fast. Objects like this have a tendency to attract people and usually end in a possession or something. If it was an object, it would have to be secured and sent back to the council. Then they could find out what it was and how dangerous it could be.

He really looked like he was in deep thought as he walked. Mira probably could have been right behind him the whole time and he wouldn’t notice, but she wasn’t. She made sure to keep her distance, just in case. She was going to wait until he was at where ever he was staying before talking to him. If he was who she thought he was, he would rather talk without anyone around to find out. That’s when it hit her. How would he react to her knowing? She reached down and gripped a pendent that was around her neck. Would he be angry? Would he insist she let him wipe her memory? Oh what should she do? She hadn’t thought that far ahead yet. She was too focused on just talking to him that she didn’t consider he might not agree with her current knowledge.

She was a bit closer then she wanted to be when she realized that Evan had stopped and was looking at a house and was now holding a piece of paper. She quickly hide herself and looked over to the house. Her eyes shot open wide in shock as she realized where it was. It was the late professor’s house. What was he doing here? Wait, was he staying here? Well, if he was who she thought, it would make sense

Evan looked down at the sheet of paper, then back up to the house. “Well, I guess this is the place. Home sweet home I guess.” He let out a sigh and approached the front door.

###

Evan was sitting at a desk in the house, reading through a book. There were many more on the desk in piles. Luckily it was facing away from the window she was at. Mira recognized them as books that she had seen in the house when she was here once or twice visiting the professor. She had always commented how they were written in Latin. It looked like this boy could read them.

“I don’t understand!” Evan suddenly slammed the book down. “All this about nullification. I don’t get it!” He picked up another book. After a few minutes, he laid it down. “What was he investigating? All these books are about ancient demonology, but why would he be studying about that? Unless…” He went through a pile and pulled out a book. After scanning through it, he stopped on a page. “Okay, so that explains it a little. But what about…” He stopped talking to himself there.

Mira watched the whole time, thinking about just knocking on the door and talking to him, but something made her stay where she was. This wasn’t going to look good if she got caught. Isn’t it supposed to be the other way around? The guy watching a girl? She would definitely have some explaining to do if someone saw her.

Suddenly Evan stood up and Mira ducked down. Did he know? Was she caught? No, impossible. He was looking the other way and was too busy reading the books. There was no way for him to know she was there. She slowly looked up and rose just a little. The sight of Evan standing right there nearly scared her to death. She froze for a moment, but then realized that he wasn’t looking at her at all. He was staring off into the distance. He was only there for a moment though before he ran out his front door. Before Mira could even think anything, he was running down the road. She soon was following after him, her thoughts filled with questions of what was going on.

It was just about nightfall, but Mira didn’t care. She was sure her parents would be starting to wonder where she was by now. She wasn’t going to let that bother her. She had to find out what was going on. She had a feeling that she was about to find out if she was right about this boy or not and that, well that would be worth the scolding she was sure to get. That is, as long as she didn’t loose the boy. He was fast. She could hardly keep up with him. After rounding a corner, she would sometimes have to stop and look around. Most of the time just catching a glimpse before he was rounding another corner. Why was he zigzagging though the city?

It was getting stronger, which meant he was getting closer to the source of this dark energy he now felt. He had barely noticed it back at the house, but it was a good thing he did. He would have failed his assignment day one for sure. He rounded another corner and the dark aura hit him like a wall. He came to a sudden stop. It was here. Evan looked around, but there was nothing there. It was just an empty construction site of some sort.

He began to think. He knew that it was near by so there was a good chance he was about to face it. Wait, he had never faced anything before. No this wasn’t the time to think like that. He was trained. He could do this, even if it was the first actual time. He just had to stay calm and think. The first step is to… Evan held out his hand. “Exsisto!” His staff from earlier appeared in his hand with a suddenly flash. He then held it in both hands with the top pointed in front of him and closed his eyes.

“Come to me mother of time and space. Grant me the power to seal of this place so other lives may not be affected.” His eyes shot open. “Aetatis dirimo!”

Everything around him suddenly turned black and white. Evan let out a breath and lowered his staff. “That’s good. It worked. I’ve never used that outside of training.”

“Ah! A time stop spell. Very good. I was beginning to worry that I was just drawing out a kid but I see you are a wizard after all!”

Evan looked up and there was a demon floating above him.

“So I see you finally found me.”

Of course. How stupid of him. He forgot to look up, demons could fly. Well, there was mistake number one on the first day. Evan held his staff with both hands and pointed it toward his enemy. “I have come to banish you demon! Surrender and make this easy on yourself.”

The demon let out a long, loud laugh. “You really are just fresh out of the academy aren’t you? This is going to be too easy.” The demon swung his arm in front of him and a black wave of energy sprang forth toward Evan.

He quickly waved his staff in front of him. “Obmolior!” Then the blast hit him. It looked to be a direct hit, but as the dust slowly cleared, Evan stood with a light blue dome of energy around him.

The demon laughed again. “So, I see you aren’t as weak as I thought. Let’s see you stop this!” The demon began to repeat the attack multiple times at the boy. The attack lasted for a good half a minute or so before the demon finally stopped, but once again as the dust cleared, the boy remained. The demon grunted in disapproval. “So, I see you have some strength after all. Very well.” The demon suddenly dashed forward and slashed Evan’s barrier with a claw, shattering it into pieces and sending him flying backwards a bit.

Evan slowly stood up, gripping his staff tightly and pointed it toward the demon. A small amount of blood slowly flowed down the side of his face, but he didn’t let it break his focus. “Incendiarius!” A flame exploded in front of his staff and then flew toward the enemy. A bit stunned by the sudden attack, the demon was unable to move or react. It was a direct hit. It now stood on the ground with minor injuries all over it.

“You little brat! How could someone your age conjure a flame that strong?” The demon glared at the boy. “I guess I had better end this quickly so not to endure anymore surprises.” It flew up high into the air and stared down at Evan. “Good bye, little wizard!” It brought up both arms above it’s head and black energy formed into a ball. All the wizard seemed to do was smirk and get into a defensive stance. After letting it grow to a great size, the demon brought down his arms and set the attack flying. It was intense.

Evan could feel the power that was in this attack. This demon meant business this time, but so did Evan. As soon as it looked that he was about to be hit, Evan swung his staff in front of him. “Repercutio!” The attack seemed to just suddenly vanish. Everything seemed to just stand still for a moment. Suddenly, with a great explosion of intense wind, the attack was back in front of Evan. Then it was released, but this time… toward the demon. It was too fast. There was nothing it could do. It didn’t even have time to think of what just happened before it was hit and there was a massive explosion.

That was it. It was all over. The demon plummeted to the ground and hit hard. Evan slowly walked over to it. It looked up into the boy’s eyes. “Im…possible. How could you possibly… be this strong?” Then it looked at his staff and it’s eyes shot open. “That… that staff! No! You’re his…!”

Evan pointed the staff at the demon. “Ablegatio.” A bright, white light formed at the tip. Soon it took the shape of a sphere with symbols floating around in it. It grew in size and soon completely covered the demon. When it subsided, the demon was gone. Evan had won.

“Now I see why the Council sent you after all.”

Evan looked around for the new voice but there was nothing there.

“I thought they had just lost their minds sending a child, but it seems you are stronger then I could have possibly imagined. You should make for some great entertainment. Enjoy your victory for now. I’ve had enough entertainment for one day.”

“Who are you?!” Evan continued to look around, but still nothing

“Oh don’t worry about that just yet. We will have plenty of time to talk later. I thank you for the show. I look forward to our next meeting.” And after a demonic laughter, the voice was gone.

Evan looked around a bit more before stopping. It appeared that what ever that was, it was gone. After a few moments, Evan held his staff forward. “Aetatis recuro.” Color returned to everything around. Evan just stood there, staring at the now night sky. He had survived his first real fight. It was scary, but he had done it.
