"Got to get away, got to get away," Risty panted as she fled from yet another beginning trainer, this one sending a Pidgey at her. Trembling. the Rattata darted into the edge of the woods and hid under a bush. She didn't want captured! She'd rather die than be shoved in a ball to rot for all of eternity. The Rattata whimpered and scrabbled in the dirt under the bush as she tried to hide. Eventually, she heard the trainer call the pidgey off and walk away, and only then did she dare to edge out of the bush.

The human and his trained pokemon had headed back into the field, so she headed further into the woodlands, twitching her ears back and forth to listen for the approach of anyone else. "Stupid humans," she grumbled, sitting down to rest once she was sure she was safe. "I wish they'd just leave me alone already!"

Risty looked up and tensed as she heard approaching footfalls, but relaxed when she saw it was another pokemon, and not one that had the scent of a human anywhere about him. "Did that nasty trainer try to catch you too?" she asked, licking at a cut on her forepaw she had gotten while running away. "I hate trainers, I hate them so much! Stupid humans, they never leave me alone!"

Risty shrugged. "I know it's bad for you, but if yo ugot captured you wouldn't be - be locked away in a ball for eternity. My brother. . . . he got captured, I saw it happen; and I saw the trainer come back later, said he'd stored my brother away 'cause he was too- too weak to keep raising." The Rattata paused and laid down so that she was comfortable. "Being stuck with a trainer's bad enough - but. . . forever in a stupid - stupid round thing?!? You'd never have to face that, never."

"You know," Risty said, following along but keeping her distance - she didn't want barbecued just for being there, and she had a sneaking suspicion this charmander wasn't qabove doing just that. "You're not very nice at all."

"Oh, I'm sorry," Risty said, ears drooping for a moment - but they perked right back up as she kept pace behind the Charmander, following the flame on his tail. She sniffed around nervously, then yelped and ducked for cover as she saw a Fearow flying in circles overhead. This was bad.

Really bad.

A fearow meant one of two things:

1.) Either a trainer was in the area, and an experienced one at that, because Fearow were notorious for their bad attitudes, or

2.) It was a wild fearow, and would be happy to have Rattata for lunch!

Risty hid in the bushes and watched the Fearow soar around while she trembled in fear. "W-what are you doing? Are you going to - to fight it?!?" she yelped, diving further under cover as the fearow spotted its up-and-coming meal and folded its wings into a dive.

"You're CRAZY!" Risty declared, backing further into the bushes as the Fearow dove, ready for a fury attack that would impale its intended target on its long sharp beak.

Risty watched with fear and fascination as the Charmander attacked the Fearow - wasn't he scared, even a little? The bird screeched as its beak caught fire, and swiped at the infuriating Charmander with a forceful wing attack, trying to bowl him over and provide itself with a new meal source.
