"Ayden!..."
A soft, feminine--motherly, voice called out. The voice was answered by a young child, not a day older than 3 years. The child ran across the grassy lawn towards his mother, "Mommy, mommy!" he called in a high pitched voice, arms outstretched. The woman knelt down, her expression warm and welcoming as she opened her arms to the child. The boy practically tackled her, nuzzling her affectionately as if he hadn't seen her in months.
Smoothing the boy's messy blond hair, the woman glanced up towards the door frame of the cozy farm house she used to call her home as a child. Standing there, another woman watched the two with her arms crossed. Her aged face had a mixed expression of relief and....sorrow? She didn't speak as the boy's mother rose to her feet, placing the child back on the ground and grabbing his hand, walking towards the gate that lead to a waiting taxi cab.
The boy, however, turned his head towards the woman at the door--his blue eyes bright and carefree as he waved with a free hand, "Byebye Gran-ma!"
The older woman smiled and held up a hand to wave the boy goodbye, watching the two now entering the cab. Trying her best to hold back tears, she whispered,
"Be careful, Elizabeth..."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ There was yelling, lots of yelling. Nothing new...except a slam, a bump, a crash. A screech and....silence. Footsteps..and more silence.
The boy, barely 5 now stood in the living room in the place he called home. Why..didn't he come sooner? They would've stopped fighting! Why did he stay in his room when....
Blood. Everywhere.
His blue eyes were outstretched in horror as he gazed upon his mother's battered body. Her eyes were shut as if she were sleeping, an arm behind her head as if it was twisted that way. The sudden shock gave way to tears. "Mommy, mommy!" he shouted. Nothing. He stood in place. Every bone in his small frame ached to do so, but he dared not get any closer as she laid in a pool of her own blood. He couldn't move! Just staring....as It just kept trickling, like endless rain drops. Drip..drip..drip.
The time seemed to cease, and all he could do was cry. Cry and call for his mother. Yelling, wailing for her to rise.
"..Ayden," a faint voice whispered.
His eyes shot open.
"Mommy, mommy!" He called, this time he ran toward her. But..she was getting farther and farther. He ran faster and faster, "Mommy, mommy! Come back! Please come back!"
"Ayden..." the voice repeated.
Finally, somehow, he caught up to her. But...the pool was deeper. She..was drowning in blood!
"Come back, come back! Mommy!"
She was going under, he was panicking. The last he could see was her blonde hair being soaked with crimson.
Fading, fading..
"Come baaackkk!"
Eyes shot open to darkness, a racing heart beat and a cold sweat. The blond-haired male panted, rising into a seated position and clutching his head. Blue eyes glanced over to a sleeping mound beside him, his expression softened as he decided to slowly rise from his bed without waking the other. Stepping lightly, he made his way to the bathroom, flicking the light on and then cursing himself for flicking the said light on, causing him to wince in pain as his eyes adjusted to the light.
"What the ******** is wrong with me..." he muttered to himself, staring into the medicine cabinet's mirror. He blinked, noticing the dye was starting to grow out of his bang. Groaning, he turned around, heading back into his bedroom without turning the light off.
Carefully stepping while keeping an eye on the sleeping person in his bed, he grabbed a t-shirt that was laying on the floor and a pair of pajama bottoms that was laying close to the shirt and headed back into the bathroom for a nice, relaxing shower...
An exhausted pair of green eyes scanned over photographs; -her- photographs from a previous shoot the week before. The girl sighed and looked over at the clock on the kitchen's wall, taking her free hand and twisting a piece of blond hair around her finger.
4 in the morning...huh.
Time had flew by the last couple of weeks, even some sometimes she couldn't remember what day it was. A restless mind, weight management and a career at her fingertips kept her running for days with little sleep or food. But..one day it would pay off, or so she reminded herself on the daily basis.
After placing the photos on the table, the girl folded her arms and laid back in the chair, eyes staring into nothingness.
Sometimes she wondered if she was wasting her time...
The shower, it didn't do much. Instead of feeling relaxed and refreshed when stepping out, he felt more exhausted and emotionally drained then he did before stepping in. The whole world could end now and he would feel..nothing.
Rush grabbed a towel from the cabinet, rubbing down his wet hair before drying off his body. This time, he didn't bother styling his hair as usual; letting it hang naturally was good enough for him.
After slipping on his clothes, he hung the towel up, flicked the light off and opened the bathroom door, carefully stepping out into the bedroom. He made his way into the hall, gently shutting the door behind him.
Maybe a snack would calm my nerves, he pondered.
And venturing downstairs into the kitchen he went.
