Zircon did not like losing. It did not put her in a happy place. The roughly scale-shaped bruise that had lasted for a week and a half on her jaw put her in even less of a happy place. Given that the Destiny City Plague had coincided rather nicely with her injuries, her civilian coworkers simply assumed that she'd been in a wreck of some sort and left it at that. However, her pride had been bruised far more thoroughly than her face, and that wasn't something that healed quite as quickly.

She'd been practicing her building-jumps on her own time, but unfortunately, the only thing that helped was a swift retreat. No, clearly she had underestimated the senshi, and it wasn't something she planned on doing again. She needed guidance, training from one of her betters, but who to ask? There were captains, of course, but after her run-in with Serandite she had to question if that was the type of person she wanted to train under. After all, during the day, Serandite was one of her students.

However, there was a fellow lieutenent among the Crystal staff, if she remembered correctly, and though they'd only spoken in passing, he surely would have a better understanding of how the Negaverse did things, or at least he could point her in the right direction. It was simply a co-worker courtesy, in this case doubly so. Lucky for her, it seemed that not only did Rohan know a thing or two about fighting, but he'd also encountered her previous assailant. They'd agreed to meet in the early evening, just outside of Crystal's dorms, and began their patrolling in silence, Zircon's posture tense and alert as she glanced around for any signs of the opponent.

She followed Rhodizite's steps onto a bridge she normally took to get to her apartment, the streets surprisingly bare. Deciding that she liked the utter silence even less than the effort it took to talk, she turned to her partner, hesitating as she tried to think of something in common to start conversation. "...Tell me more about Sailor Libra," she said finally, deciding that if they were on-the-clock, they might as well talk about work-related matters.

Rhodizite had, in fact, been rather surprised when Zircon had come to find him, asking him for his help. He wasn't exactly used to helping others, but at the same time... it wasn't because he was unwilling. It was just that no one had really come to him seeking help before, unless one counted when Serah had asked him for a pep talk.

He wasn't particularly sure that counted though.

At any rate, he'd been utterly unable to turn his college down, though he felt she should have gone to someone more experienced, really. He didn't quite think he was the best person to go to; he was sure one of the captains had a lot more battle experience than he did, and would have made a better teacher of sorts. He had caught himself before suggesting that though, because he'd come to realize that perhaps Zircon didn't want to deal with someone that technically outranked her. Perhaps she wanted someone on equal footing with her; someone she could relate to. So thus, he'd gone with it.

"She's a b***h," Rhodizite was not used to cursing, but the memories of that particular battle still made him seethe, "But she's rather strong. Zodiacs have some sort of... boost, from what I've gathered. They call themselves Soldier Libra, Soldier Virgo, etcetera, and with good reason," he told her as he walked, "I've been wanting to patrol with a partner for that reason - I think it's more productive."

Zircon couldn't help it: at the mention of Sailor Libra, her eyes narrowed, and she thought bitterly to the pain in her jaw. "It would have been helpful to know about the Zodiacs in our general debriefing: I wasn't aware that the senshi had sub-factions to look out for." She'd heard that they were powerful but that they were fragmented and usually worked alone, making them vulnerable. Alone Sailor Libra had been, but vulnerable she hadn't, and at least now Zircon didn't have to consider that it was her own weakness merely at fault. She had gone up against a Zodiac, she told herself, it wasn't her fault. She would have better chances against a normal senshi.

The woman glanced up at a streetlight as they passed underneath it, somewhat uncomfortable with how out in the open they were. She supposed that the boldness was part of the point in luring out something to hunt, but there were things other than senshi roaming the streets these days, things that Zircon would rather not bump into. After all, unless someone had failed to mention that all Negaverse agents had bulletproof skin, she would rather not have any sort of altercation with the National Guardsmen that had been walking the streets as of late.

"Yes, partnering up is a plus," added the lieutenant, who despite her dark thoughts smiled to herself. "It seems that the Queen's initiative has also gone off without a hitch. I can only hope that things bode this well in the future." Zircon was quick to shift the focus of conversation to their more recent successes: that way, she didn't have to focus on less recent failures.

Sailor Zubenelgenubi was stomping through her newly-appointed 'favorite' youma hunting grounds. It had been a week for the girl, and a bad one. So it was that the normally rude crude bully machine was ruder and cruder and not at all inclined to be merciful on any of the poor suckers that she may happen to run across this evening. Destiny City was still and silent, excepting the fact that the National Guard was apparently patrolling the city, cracking down on senshi and anything else they found. At the same time, she'd heard Negaverse patrols had stepped up. Whatever this Negaverse really was; the magical cat thing had only given her her Senshi Stick a week or two previously. negaverse appeared to be one of the names for the little monsters she beat up.

Sailor Zubenelgenubi had been told that her special power was something called 'Flash.' So far, she hadn't much needed to use it. For the last 15 years, ever since she was old enough to walk, she'd been a bit of a bully; always been a bit physical. She liked it physical. So far, her normal actions had kept her alive and what she would call mildly successful. She was used to taking advantage of her linebacker-esque build, and she was good at it.

The sound of voices hit her from where she was walking, drifting on chill night air and the Senshi perked up almost like a hound. Person? People? This late at night? The young woman stamped in the direction of the sound, not bothering with stealth. They were talking about... Zodiacs? Like the Chinese zodiacs? Or like the zodiacs who gathered around that one green-haired girl in the dress? With the wings. Whoever she was. Chrono Cross or something. And Queens? Eh. Zube didn't much care about that.

Stomp. Stomp. Clunky heels on concrete, her long skirt shifting around her knees.

A mild sneer appeared across Rhodizite's features, though it was clear it was not directed at his current partner, "I learned that the hard way. I'd heard something about how they were a tad different from the norm, but didn't realize to what extent until I took on Virgo," the sneer vanished and was replaced with a grimace, "The girl was a foot shorter than me and somehow managed to pick me up while I had my chain wrapped around her and pulled some sort of wrestling move on me, throwing me backwards. It bloody well hurt," while it was true he was ashamed of his failures, he was sharing them with Zircon in... well, apparently some weird sort of way of comforting her.

He wasn't particularly good at communication, and was absolutely horrible when it came down to connecting with people, so the attempt was awkward, but he still tried. Points for trying, "They don't give us a lot of information - you pick up most of it on the field," at the end of the day, he was trying to tell her that it wasn't her fault; she'd gone up against an opponent that was well above current power level, "It is war," he said, his features grim, "Things never bode well in war," it wasn't that he didn't trust his queen; he did, which was why he was where and whom he was. It was just that he did not expect war to be easy. Not in the least. It didn't matter what new ammo they had to their disposal; it would continue to be a difficult battle, because the other side would find some way to retaliate. That was just the way things would always been in his mind.

It was right around then that the not-so-distant stomping caught his attention, and he held out an arm for Zircon to stop at his side, "Shhh... do you hear that?" he took the moment to grasp the chain in a more offensive position and scanned the surroundings, "I'm starting to really hate high heels," if only because he instantly associated them with senshi.

Even if Rhodizite wasn't the best at getting his point across, Zircon was nevertheless comforted by the fact that she didn't seem to be the only one who was pretty much in the dark with things. Of course, there were certain to be captains that knew more than the two of them combined, but then again, they were captains for a reason, and Zircon was still fairly new at this. It soothed her wounded ego to know that there was light at the end of the tunnel of her failures, a light powered by knowledge and starseeds.

She kept herself silent as they walked and he talked, nodding in tandem with his words. She supposed that it was war, after a fashion, the Negaverse the trained, competent troops and the Senshi the mass of renegade guerillas. Again, this was another comfort. After all, guerilla troops could only last for so long. Discipline would always prevail in the end, and Zircon had nothing if not discipline and respect for her duty. Where Rhodizite seemed to dislike the notion, it only made Zircon all the more affirmed to her beliefs. Yes, they were at war. But it was a war where she was on the winning side. At the end of the day, that was all that mattered.

Zircon was so caught up in her inner musings that she lightly bumped into Rhodizite's outstretched arm, her thoughts rushing back to reality with the minor jolt. She paused, lifting her head as if it would help her hear better, and when she heard the clop of a pair of heels, her mind turned to memories of Libra and her blood ran cold.

Slowly, she turned around, trying to keep herself calm. "There," she murmured to Rhodizite, looking out to a shadowed figure out past the streetlights. Her paper airplane popped into existance and as she stepped closer to Rhodizite, she scowled at the darkness, knowing better than to openly show her fear. "What's our plan of action?" she said in a low voice, all too willing to give her partner leadership this time around.

It was not long before the girl caught sight of the noisemakers; she had been close enough to hear bits of their conversation, after all. It looked like two boys. Knowing boys, they were probably up to no good. Zubenelgenubi stepped into view, her hands going to her hips and sneering down her nose at them. Somehow. Normally, she might have mistaken them for drunk teenagers if she had encountered a pair like this. Normally, she might have grouched and griped at them (and maybe hit one in the face for being drunk and out at night) but not for these two up-to-no-good enemy boys.

She surveyed them in silence for a moment, admittedly somewhat more than startled to see actual people. Yet Zube had decided long ago- once you look an animal in the eye, you don't back down. You have to dominate them. Or else they bite you. Not that she thought people would bite her, that was retarded. Unless they were zombies. Zombies would bite her. Regardless of if she was trying to dominate them with her animal magnetism. Her best friend had been trying to teach her that her normal methods of combat wouldn't always work.

Two on one? This was the perfect setup to prove otherwise.

Zubenelgenubi stamped one clunky heel up on the bridge, and said to the other two people, "If you leave now, I won't punish you for being out past curfew."

((.... I sincerely apologize. I totally thought I'd tagged this thread a couple of days ago *headgrip* I r smurt!))

The sight of the senshi made Rhodizite arch a brow; he'd half been expecting her to back down once she noticed she was outnumbered. However, the sneer and the way she storm-stomped into view, not to mention her words... all seemed to indicate she was looking for a battle. Which was rather perfect, as far as he was concerned, since he was sure that together, they could take on her.

The notion that she might have backup somewhere, haunted the lieutenant, but for the time being, he focused on the here and now, "Knock her down, restrain her and then finally... go for the kill," the words were murmured in what he hoped was a low enough voice that only Zircon would hear, choosing for the time being to ignore Zube's warning, "How good are you with hand to hand combat, Zircon? If you take her on, I can more or less probably tell you where you're making a mistake, and thus rectify it," that sort of meant... that for a small part of the battle he'd have to watch, rather than attack, and he wasn't sure that was a particularly good idea, "I will understand if you'd rather not turn this into a lesson though; gathering the star seed is more pressing."

He finally turned his full attention on Zube, "I believe that that is no way to talk to your elders. Aren't you the only one of us three that would logically have a curfew to meet?" the chain was still held tightly between his hands in case the senshi charged forward, "What, no introduction or cheesy one-liners to accompany it?" after all, the more information they got about her, the better, because that meant they might be able to predict her attacks.
