She observed the city from the rooftop of an abandoned building, blond hair billowing in the gentle breeze. Aphrodite casually seated herself on the edge of the roof, unafraid of the possibility that she could fall – whether on accident, or on purpose. The view was nice from here. When the sun set or rose above the horizon and the sky was painted all sorts of colors, the buildings gained an unearthly glow that was absolutely stunning. Not only that, but it was so much easier to spot those pesky beacons from up here.
Aphrodite smiled, eyes glittering with glee. Oh yes, those pesky, pesky beacons that only a select few obtained one way or another. If only she could nab one for herself, she thought with a chuckle. Was that even possible for her? She wasn’t going to bother trying. Why go through all those nitty gritty battles when she could have others fight them for her?
A feeling tugged on her heart, lightly tugging her forward. She blinked, then grinned. It was showtime.
She swung around and hopped off the ledge, waltzing to the door. “I might be the villain of your story. I might, I might~” she softly sang to herself.
Casually strolling out of the building, she happily walked behind the beacon carrier. She shot out and grabbed their wrist just as they passed by a display window, staring at his reflection with a dark grin. “I might be the villain of your story,” she started in a low voice. “But even so, would you like power? Do you want to find answers to your questions?” Her grin widened.

Takuma initially froze in response to the sudden contact. Something about this felt weird and it put him on edge. When Takuma spun around ready to chew out whoever had the gall to grab him he faltered and was at a loss for words. It was a woman? ... And what was she wearing? She see seemed rather... under-dressed.
Upon hearing her voice a second time he snapped out of his shocked confusion. This was no time for leering. "Answers? What do you mean?" Despite his skeptical expression there was a tinge of eagerness to his voice. The prospect of being able to pursue some unnamed truth was appealing. Vague but appealing. It was likely this woman was a crackpot. How can you have answers when unaware of the question? ... But what if this was real?
Too much was going through Takuma's mind. He had even forgotten to free his arm from her grasp.

Aphrodite could feel his muscles contract, his arm stiffening at her sudden movement. The blond chuckled as her grin broadened at the touch, to see the alarmed look that briefly flashed in his eyes. Her own eyes twinkled with dancing glee. This was just one of those few reasons she took such delight in awakening these kids with their beacons. Most of the time they were always startled by her quick entrance, but she supposed that the average person would react like so.
“Exactly what I mean,” she replied with ease, she half-nodded at his tattoo. “That little beacon of yours giving you any problems lately?” The woman smirked, fingers lightly trailing up Takuma’s arm. “It’s a bit uncommon, but not unheard of.”
Her chuckling was interrupted by a scream as a pair of high schools fled from a rampant chompah, its large teeth digging into their abandoned school bags. Aphrodite calmly eyed the furry monster. “Hmm. I suggest you make your decision quick.”

It was after school and nowhere near when he was planning on going home. It had felt like a safe enough time to stop covering the tattoo for a bit. The damn thing seemed to only attract unwanted attention. Why was she calling it a beacon though? This woman was beginning to seem more like a stalker than anything.
"It hurts sometimes. I think it healed badly or something..." Takuma looked at the unfortunately large tattoo on his arm. It was something he was neither proud or pleased about. He was still appalled that his last group of 'friends' had somehow tricked him into getting it. He didn't fully understand how it happened (weren't even small tattoos expensive?). All he knew was drinking was not something he planned on doing again any time soon.
Before he had a chance to try to get the strange woman to start making some sense he heard the screams. In comparison everything else was unimportant. The chompah had his full attention. What was that thing? Those discarded bags wouldn't hold its attention for long. Takuma's gut reaction was wanting to go and try to help the people. A normal person should have wanted to hide or run away but he didn't like seeing other people in danger. There had been too many times where he had been trapped in a tough spot without any sign of help in the past.
He took a step towards the commotion and then stopped abruptly. What could someone like him do beyond get mauled? Takuma looked back questioningly at the woman that had stopped him. It was frustrating to feel this helpless when something needed to be done. She had said something that made him hopeful. "You mentioned something about power earlier. I don't understand anything you are leading towards but... Please, if I could help those people... I'll do anything."

Aphrodite laughed, offhandedly waving off his weak reasoning. “Oh sure, that’s what you think. Or perhaps, what you would like to hope?” she replied, narrowed eyes and grinning as she stared at Takuma.. “You know there’s something off with that tattoo of yours, don’t you? Because it is!” she chirped, eagerly pushing him towards the chompah as she giggled at his resolve.
“Now, there isn’t anything too complicated about getting that power of yours to awaken. As cheesy as it sounds, look inside your heart and it’ll tell you have to use your powers. Now, isn’t that easy?” explained the woman, sparkles and hearts providing a cheery background to her equally cheery face.
Pushing Takuma closer to the chompah she eventually took a few sly steps back, hands innocently twined behind her. “Unfortunately, I don’t have really any other magical abilities myself, so I’ll be leaving the chompah-extermination to you!”
The chompah turned around, having finished with completely tearing the leather bags to shred. It idly nibbled on a torn remain, blinking as it stared at Takuma. Its large mouth grinned, teeth happily clacking together as its gaze locked onto the boy, having obviously found a new target to chase after. It waddled towards the boy, mouth pulled apart as wide as it could.
