With school, he barely had time with track, appointments, homework, and patrols. Without school, he now had longer, more demanding patrols and hours spent at the hospital staring at bedspreads and talking to himself in hopes that his voice would register to his parents, his sister, and his friends. It was starting to exhaust him how hopeless it was to just be sitting in a room all day, yet he couldn’t leave the hospital and do anything else but patrol. Anything other than patrolling made him feel as if he was taking his family and friends for granted, not standing by their side when they needed him the most, and that he was somehow a cold, horrible person. In the end, he was tired. He couldn’t go home since no one was there. He barely could sleep at Ivan’s place as it didn’t feel like his home. In the end, he slept on hospital chairs and sometimes slumped over beds, gaining him one hell of a back problem.

If it wasn’t for Ivan, he would have been slumped on the floor somewhere and needing a bed, too. Not making his job any easier, Ivan would come in and wake him up, tell him to go home, and when that didn’t work, tell him that he HAD to go to the cafeteria to get something to eat. He still had 2 hours before visiting was over and he had to go back to Ivan’s place, and he was dragging himself to the cafeteria. The food wasn’t the best, but he was too tired to make anything for himself. Why cook when he didn’t have anyone to cook for?

With a cold sandwich and a cup of juice, he sat down and stared at the bland meal with drooping eyes. The tray looked comfortable, and his stomach already said he wasn’t up for eating all that much. The bread did look extra plush. He wondered how nice of a pillow it would make.

Nope. He had to stay awake for 2 more hours before he could catch the bus and go to bed. Eat. Visit. THEN sleep.

Without any enthusiasm, he picked up the sandwich and bite into it before groaning. Why couldn’t these people make a decent sandwich?

He shuffled into the cafeteria with the slump of tiredness that was a bond of brotherhood between so many there. Long hours and late nights for doctors and patients alike, visiting hours were used and abused to no end, some nurses more tolerant than others, not unlike the doctors. He knew this well having fallen asleep more than once leaning either against Beth's bed or Demy's. There were times when he sat there reading to them from the well paged paperbacks he had selected for each, that he would have sworn the whole world was falling asleep one by one.
For once he had gotten a cup of coffee rather than tea, it smelled burt to him and had a few clumps of non dairy creamer that utterly refused to be mixed into the 'vial brown liquid'
Even as bleary eyed as he was, he could still pick out people he had spent time 'observing', not the least of which was of course, his team mate, Wolfram aka Landon.

"Et Tu Landon?" he quipped as he approached with the same lackluster shuffle that he could swear had infected a good portion of the staff as well. He leaned slightly against the table where Landon had set down his tray because leaning was better than staying on his feet any longer.

"To look at you, I would say you too are burning the candle at both ends, you shouldn't over do it..." He scolded with a small shake of his head. Same rank or not he took being 'number one' in Lina's small crew seriously, regardless of how they had gotten on in the past he was feeling particularly 'hennish' in light of recent events.

"May I sit down?"

While Z had been able to pick him out of the crowed, Ladon had been chewing his small bite of food with a blank expression that said he wouldn’t have noticed someone breathing down his neck unless they said his name. Perky and attentive had been melted off more wakeful hours ago, oozing somewhere in the hallways for the janitorial staff to mop up. When Z said he name, he looked up and blinked before he sat up a bit straighter, summoning back that light into his eyes that said that he was actually here on the planet and not lost in space.

While he remembered the dirt that Z had on him, he just couldn't manage to put his guard up or muster up any energy to be suspicious of him when he could barely keep his eyes open.

“Oh. Hi Z.” He said, lifting a hand to cover his mouth as it was impolite to talk with even a slightly full mouth, before he swallowed. He hadn’t expected to see Z here, but guessing how many people were in the hospital, it wasn’t surprising. Everyone knew someone here it seemed. The boy looked just as beat up and stretched paper thin as he did, and he felt a yawn coming on that he had to fight. “Yeah – you say that, but you look just as worn out as I do. You should take a nap before you tell me to take it easy.” Ladon lost, loosing the battle to hold in a yawn before he gestured to the free seat. “Go ahead. Don’t want you passing out if you stand there for too long.” Ladon knew he always needed to sit when he felt this way. It came to the point that he sometimes looked at some of the sleeping coma patients and thought they looked comfortable and lucky for sleeping so deeply. He really needed another nap.

Unlike Z, who drank coffee. Ladon abstained from caffeine, something that wasn’t doing him any favors right now. “I guess it’s right to say you have someone close to here, too. I heard about Schee.” He rubbed his eyes before reaching for his juice.

"Zac" he corrected as much a reflex as from any irritation that anyone but Demy would call him Z. He sat down with a tired stiffness that would have looked more fitting on someone with at least eighty odd years under their belt or bad arthritis. "I..." he added glancing back at Landon once he had sat down and straitened himself as much as he could, "am not the one who looks like I am about to use a wonder-bread pillow."
As though to counter the argument he had to stifle a yawn into his sleeve as Wolfram's own yawn made its infectious way into his mind and won the battle in short order. In counter Zac took a sip of the coffee and managed to hold his reaction to its flavor and odor back for a whole half second before he curled into a full body cringe and bore an expression that looked like he'd just been kicked in the mouth with soccer cleats.

He put the cup down and stared at it for a moment as though it had just threatened to rip out his own starseed and anyone within a 3 yard radius before clearing his throat, if only wishfully his palate and nodding that yes, Scheelite was here.

"Among others." He added if somewhat enigmatically, "My Cousin as well, and yourself?"

He eyed the juice with at least a partial envy and pondered risking the tea again, though his previous encounter with it had proven to taste more of hot water and an odd odor of chlorine that sometimes favored city water.

It seemed a faux pas to let anyone call Zac ‘Z’ unless you were Demy, and Ladon took this down. While he thought this was just a widely used nickname, it seemed only a select few were allowed to use it and Ladon certainly wasn’t not that select few. As far as teammates went, the two of them could have been strangers or at least at the best, mild associates. It didn’t help that Zac hadn’t made the best impression with him or the fact he blackmailed people, a background that now made Ladon suspicious of the slightly shorter boy’s actions. For now, they both seemed too tired to be plotting any evil aside from possibly complaining to the cafeteria staff – that is if any of them had the energy to yell at this point.

For now, he raised his hands in a apology. “Sorry. Zac.” He corrected, showing he didn’t mean to be rude. As far as this was going, this talk was actually on the light side, and Ladon even quirked a tiny, ever-so-slight smile at seeing the boy cringe at the coffee. It wouldn’t have surprised him that the coffee was probably horrid, even if most everyone here was sipping a cup to keep themselves going. It meant that he wasn’t missing out on anything. His sandwich wasn’t even that grand either, and he had decided to neglect it and instead sip his juice. It could suffice for a meal for now until he got back to Ivan’s place.

“I’m sorry to hear about your Cousin.” Everyone had someone here, and for Ladon to see that Zac had someone close only reminded him that, despite the image he had of him, the boy was still very human. “I’m here for my family. They all went into a coma.” His mother had been found and brought in a day later from his father and sister. She had been driving when she fell asleep and it was only luck that she hadn’t died. It was a good thing she was insistent on everyone, including adults, wearing their seatbelts. Seatbelt or not, she still broke her arm in the process along with some internal bleeding that got under control. With no other relatives conscious or around during the quarantine, he had to sign permission for a small surgery.

“I also have a friend here.” Ivan had set him down and told him that Tate was here as well, only after he dealt with his parents. He had spent the better part of his visiting hours walking hallways to and from three rooms where his father and sister, then mother, and then Tate were resting. At least he wasn’t unfit from all the sitting.

He rubbed his eye as he breathed out. “I wish there was more to do than to just sit about. I’m running out of things to talk about.” It was hard to keep a worthwhile conversation with three people when you did nothing but sit around in hospital rooms all day. He usually repeated the same hopes that they get better and that he was going to do all he could to fix things.

Zac pushed the coffee cup an arm length away from himself to remove the 'temptation' such as it was to continue sipping till the brown battery acid and 'talc' as he had just dubbed the powdered creamer, ate off his taste buds and clotted his palate in the name of wakefulness.
"Not doing anything serious at the time I hope?" he asked rubbing his eyes. While he thought that wolfram more than flirted with a rather dangerous line with 'Tate', feeling at the core of things that he risked not just himself for such fleeting things as feelings he oddly perhaps, wished no harm on him or his family.
At least, he didn't wish any at the moment, wolfram had given him no true reason to carry his 'threats' any further than he had.

"I'm sorry about your family... you might try reading to them, I have heard that helps and might give them pleasant dreams." he said stretching with a small groan and causing his seat to shift and creak which made him cut short on what had otherwise been an enormously satisfying stretch before he continued.

"It seems..." he added in a much lower voice, "that, our skirted 'friends' have drawn the all too natural conclusion that this is all our fault." He murmured. He needed to pass this information on to their captain too, but he had only recently found out and had a sore jaw to show for it though the bruise was not yet truly showing as anything more than a shadow.
"... I can't help but think it could bring them to dangerous levels of organization if its what they believe, if its true... or..." he shook his head and stared at the offensive cup again.

"Hmm..." he said as though that concluded the thought train that was clearly still making its way around in his thoughts.

"Yes, I'd recommend picking some books they would enjoy."

Zac was a peculiar guy, but also one he wasn’t sure was safe to be buddy-buddy with or not. The image of a calculating Lieutenant scribbling in a book of secrets was still very vivid in his mind, and considering what dirt Zac had on him, he didn’t feel he had much room to move while in his presence. Zac didn’t seem the type to take jokes, but Schee was someone who was nothing but a happy fellow who likes to have fun. If anything, it should show that Zac would handle a lot of play, even though the way he held himself said he would tolerate nothing that wasn’t business.

It was hard to pin the other Lieutenant down, and he was left in a gray area trying to find the boundaries of …whatever this was they had. Not friendship or enemies, but something else. One moment he felt on guard for whatever he might try to find and use against him, and another half felt he was a teammate being genuinely friendly.

In short, Who knew?! He was too tired to play games right now, and he really was open to talking to someone who was conscious and not a nurse.

Just as he was considering that reading was a good idea, Zac lowered his voice to talk about Nega matters, and he felt himself leaning in just to listen better. Then it was right back to talking about reading. Again, this was what made Zac hard to define clearly. Friendly suggestion about reading. Serious matter about Senshi. Back to reading. Maybe it was a cover for what he really wanted to talk about.

“I didn’t think about reading mainly because I can’t keep my eyes open nowadays.” Long patrols, sleeping in a place that wasn’t his home, and nightmares really wore a person down. “It sounds like a good idea. Better than what I was talking about.” His last talk with his sleeping sister was about the time they went camping and their tent flooded.

He then whispered. “You mean that they’d finally get their act straight and pull together after this?” He paused, thinking this over. “It did add some more strength to our team. We were already organized, but look at us now. We all want the senshi to die.” Everyone was working harder, or so he hoped, at riding the place of senshi.

The next question was one that shouldn’t have been surprising. “I don’t think saying we didn’t do it to any of them would chance their mind. They hate us. They’d just think we were lying about it.” If a senshi told him that they were not responsible, he hated them enough not to trust what they said.

He leaned back again. “I know what books my sister likes, but who knows what my parents might like to listen to. I guess the newspaper.” This was turning out to be a weird but interesting conversation.
PostPosted: Wed Jun 16, 2010 10:15 pm

Zac made a humm of interest and folded his fingers together and rested his chin on them thinking. "The senshi seem to be every bit as diverse as our own organization, their uniforms too are getting increasingly hard in some cases do differentiate from our own without that 'feeling' they have about them." He said in hushed tones.
"I wonder though if some of our own uniforms, reflect that need to blend with them as well...I have seen a senshi with a black uniform top as well, and she was NOT one of ours..." he glanced at Wolfram with a serious expression to indicate just how very important that bit of information was.
He sighed and closed his eyes for a long moment, his breathing even enough that it might be assumed he was falling asleep right there, but he did open them again.

"I might suggest mystery novels, or something like a fantasy... something uplifting perhaps? Studies are of course inconclusive, but If they hear you and what you read impacts their dreams." He shrugged a little.

"We should take a..." he paused to yawn, stifling it into his hand and then shaking his head apologetic. "We should take a... 'shift' together, we can shorten it so we both get rest but be more sure of being able to deal with what we encounter... besides which 'Lina' will be pleased I think if we lean our team mates strengths and so on. A mutual exchange of vital information..." He waved a hand tired.
"Perhaps we will be fortunate enough to encounter another like the... girl with the tables."

Wolframite hadn’t been around for the senshi of tables as he had been assigned to another mission, but he had heard about it. It had been one of the most hilarious senshi powers he had yet to hear about, and he made sure to congratulate his team for their success (even if he felt out of place being the odd man out of that team-building experience). The idea of patrolling with Zink was something he was unsure about, but considering he had still to figure out a few things about his teammate, he felt this was the perfect time to find out. Patrolling was also a good way to show you were not being lazy and showing some initiative with their superiors. He had always wanted to patrol with his teammates the moment he joined the Negaverse, but he didn’t think Zink would have been that sort of person when thinking about it.

As far as sharing information went, he felt he had at least one thing to give Zink that he didn’t know about. The dark-topped senshi. The image of Queen Selene was still fresh, and he frowned at the sensation of being controlled had felt like. “I met the dark-topped senshi. Her name is Sailor Selene. She calls herself a queen. While she is easy to take down physically, she had a weird wand that …can control you to do her bidding. It’s not something you want to mess with.” He had no idea what Beryl felt about this information or what was to be done. Sassolite had been the one to report to her after their encounter with her. He still felt humiliated.

He rubbed his temple in order to hide a faint heat in his cheeks. “I think we can alter our uniforms a bit, but I tried to fool a senshi once and they were always suspicious. They asked me questions about senshi I didn’t know about. I was figured out pretty quickly.” He tried it with Sassolite, but she picked him out for who he was rather easily. “…but patrolling sounds like a plan.”

With that, he removed his hand and went to drink some more juice just to keep awake.
PostPosted: Wed Jun 16, 2010 10:41 pm

He looked sharply at Ladon at the mention of Selene... "Did you report this?" he asked quietly with clear fascination. "Thats a different one, than the one I encountered, but to call herself a queen..." He trailed off eyes alight with interest. He wanted information, as much as he could get.

"I wish I had my notebooks..." He hissed through his teeth.
"Tell me of her at any rate? As much as you can remember, height, age weight, what did she call her attack?"
He paused though and seemed to reign himself in with some effort.

"Sorry.... no, not here, later if you would. For the young woman and the tables, we did modify my own uniform, but not to look like them..." He quirked an amused smile. "More than one way to skin the proverbial cat."

He frowned at the idea of NOT reporting such important information to his superiors. Whatever he felt was slightly valuable, he would deliver the news to his Captain, Lina, or either Charonite or Nealite. This time around, he hadn’t been the one to deliver the news, but he had made sure that Sassolite left to tell them. “I didn’t specifically, but another Lieutenant that I was patrolling with reported instead. It was better that she did.” He had been very out of it after being controlled by the Queen and didn’t think he could face any of his superiors. Having fallen into a moment of switching loyalty hadn’t settled right with him, and he didn’t want to admit this to anyone.

To lighten his mood, he watched Zac’s obvious discomfort with receiving this information without having anything to write it down in. He glanced at a napkin and wondered if it would make a nice temporary substitution, but – nah! He liked it better this way. Once Zac was behind a notebook, he might write more than just official business. It made the conversation unsettling to have someone scribble away in a language you didn’t understand. Let Zac do that later when he wasn’t around.

As for him, he just listened and tried to dedicate what he was learning to memory, something that Zac probably would consider a poor way to file away information. He wasn’t as good at following Zac’s train of thought, or where he was leading with his comment about changing his uniform. “So how did you change your uniform?” He hadn’t gotten all the details of how Team Enterprise had gotten a senshi starseed aside from the fact about who the senshi was and that the mission was a success. Again, being out of the loop with your team didn’t help him at all, but that’s what happened with he didn’t feel that connected with any of his teammates.
PostPosted: Thu Jun 17, 2010 10:39 am

Ladon might have been surprised at just how efficient Zac considered committing things to memory, he even found it surprising at how hard other people seemed to find storing information at times. However writing it down into something encrypted was like putting it into a safe for him.
"Excellent..." he said half purring and nodded to know that the information had been passed on to the correct channels. "If it's just the same, I'd still like the information later, you never know when we might be able to draw useful information from it." he nodded again in approval and fingered the napkin he'd seen the subtle glance and. Sadly he had no pen on him at the time... how poorly prepared he was, how FRUSTRATING.

"I removed my coat... without it I look veritably civilian." He paused to give a long considering glance at Ladon.
"...however..." he said consideringly. "I think that might be harder with yours. We would have to remove your bows and such, but it's still rather ... frilly." He said the word carefully as he pondered just how much of a uniform was inspired by the person wearing it.

This was not the first time someone insulted his uniform. Almost every senshi he met couldn’t believe he was a Negaverser and had even laughed at him for all the bows. Senshi, who wore bows, frills, and too many loud colors, found HIS uniform hilarious. It annoyed him to no end, and while he started off trying to say he had no choice in his uniform, he now felt too much pride as a Lieutenant to let even his uniform be insulted. Sure, Zac was trying to soften the delivery, but Ladon could translate what “frilly” meant. “You think it looks girly. Just say it. Don’t try using another word for it. I know my uniform has bows on it and it’s not all dark and commanding like other uniforms. I think you’d realize that I didn’t go into a Negaverse wardrobe and pick what I was wearing.” He would have been more self conscious and picked something more publicly appropriate. Telling Zac he liked the bows would have just had him rolling on the floor or worse – raising an eyebrow!

“I can rip off the bows and take off the jacket. That just leaves me with a black outfit.” He pointed out, and also added. “I also tried pretending I was a senshi once with the bows. There are male senshi out there.” An encounter with Regulus had proven that much.

Miffed, Ladon put his sandwich aside, no longer even feeling that he could fake wanting to eat it, and instead moved the juice next to him. Bringing up his uniform was not something Ladon liked. “What are you getting with this talk about uniforms? Are you planning to do the same thing you did with the Senshi of Tables on someone else?”
PostPosted: Thu Jun 17, 2010 6:07 pm

Zink shrugged in a non committal way to the question his gaze drifting back to Ladon's at the semi suspicious note to the question, intended or not.

"And, girly isn't quite the world I'd be looking for... besides, its better than some to be honest. At least your not half naked like some of us." He scowled his eyes looking ahead but at the same time utterly focused somewhere else.

He shook his head to brush away the mental image. "It could be useful though, So long as you don't mind playing along, don't worry... I am not suggesting using it on any civilians." He added dipping his chin as though he were peering over spectacles like some scornful librarian.

He couldn’t figure out if Zac was just being honest or kind by not saying his uniform was girly, but it didn’t matter. They both knew no one had any say as far as uniforms went. The day you were corrupted was the day you were given a uniform. It was still a mystery to him how the uniform came into existence or how the design was decided, and he wasn’t about to think too hard on it or openly discuss it. There was a theory he had about it being a representation, and the wasn’t about to admit what bows and “frills” represented about him.

Instead, he moved on in the conversation. “Yeah, that’s true. At least I’m fully dressed. Better than a fuku at least.” He pointed out with a small smile. He had no idea how the senshi even fought when they were exposing themselves the entire time. He had seen more cleavage and panties during battles than he could count. At least he had pants, a blessing as far as uniforms went.

Leaning back, he looked around at the people milling around the cafeteria. “Civilians wouldn’t bother me. It depends on the civilian in the end. I’m not about to attack toddlers or the elderly, but the everyday alley scum – I could care less about them.” He looked him. “So don’t strike that out as a possibility for later. For now, if you have an idea, I’m willing to listen to it. Until then, I guess we keep that in the back of our minds. Fooling senshi and civilians could be a good way to cause some damage.” He leaned in to talk about senshi, again whispering as not to be heard. Who knew who was here to listen to them, even if the cafeteria was buzzing with talk and moving chairs. “I don’t think the senshi even know who is on their team sometimes. They’re a big group. You run into them all the time, so a new senshi they don’t know could work at some point. Even if they organize, they seem to get new members all the time. Too many to keep tabs on.” This was not a good thing for the Negaverse considering how quickly their enemy was growing in number, but it could be used.

Ladon then paused, looked at Zac, and smiled. He had a silly thought there for a moment about how thrilling it was to be talking like this. It was such a goofy idea to think this was all rather neat to be having a secret conversation that he almost felt embarrassed for being such a dork.
