The queen's praise still rang like sweet music in the mare's ears. Aviania had been impressed by her conquest, the sisters had shown envy and interest, the stallion's hair had been clipped and the ceremony was over. Zahraa' and her new pet had been excused and were now a beyond the main circle of the Flock's central nesting ground. Her kin was busy elsewhere. Doing what, Raa' didn't care. She was taking the remainder of the day to herself and breaking in getting to know her new play thing.
His lock of hair held carefully in her mouth, she led him to the carefully woven bundle of branches, vines, and animal pelts that was her nest. The bright blue was added to various feathers and keepsakes. Heavy to crafted jewelry and plumage, but there were a few small animal bones as well. Not half so well adorned as her nest back in the mountains, but not back considering they hadn't been there very long at all.
Her mouth now free she turned to watch the peach male. He'd been quiet since they entered the nesting grounds, speaking only when spoken to, shying away from the other mares of the flock if they got to close. If he was afraid of them all, then he was mailable, and she could impress upon him that he was safer in her company, as her pet, then anywhere else within the territory.
Of course, that would require her to be both less and more intimidating then the rest. It was a fine line she would have to tread to get absolute obedience, but she was sharp, clever, and no stranger to games of dominance and respect.
She waited til he was close before moving towards him, circling behind to give him a little push towards the nest before bushing past his side and moving beyond him to the circle of branches.

It had been incredibly harsh on Cabriole's psyche to see how large the 'flock' really was. There were over ten of the 'harpies', and that wasn't all that their flock consisted of.
Like Grecian Amazons, Cabriole thought as he hesitated slightly, unsure what his captor wanted him to do before tentatively putting a single hoof hovering over the lip of the nest, and looking at her for confirmation of if that was what she wanted, Fighting in battles and killing most of the men, but keeping some as slaves for tending to their land and to prevent themselves from becoming extinct.. One must wonder just how inbred they are, and hope they understand that consuming the flesh of similar creatures causes the shakes and would eventually kill them and not... Eat the males after they become impregnated..
He had become truly well learned in his time with his godfather, the angeni tending to his education, However, he also knew to survive this would require him to pick things up quick and relay on more then just what Cuauhcoatl had taught him.

Pupiless watched him. Watched the gears turning within his mind, and she wondered what was putting such a thoughtful expression on his face. She gave a small nod towards the silent question and stepped back to give him room, folding legs under her as she sank down to lay along the edge of the nest, talons crossing almost daintily.
Lips pursed, the mare slipped tongue over the outer enamel of a back molar, thinking to herself. She didn't want him emotionally crushed. Obedient, but not broken. Away from her sisters and safely within the parameters of the Flock's central territory, she was more relaxed, and her voice was fair less harsh when she spoke. "Whatever your thinking has been making your frown deepening with every passing moment." A tilt of her head showed sincere curiosity. "What's making you frown so?" She paused, then added, "beside the obvious."
There was mo mocking in her voice, only mild interest.

Cabriole blinked, eyes wide as he carefully eased himself into the nest and laid down, "... Just remembering my teachings as my mind wandered... You threatened that the others might make me into a meal at one point..." He settled down slightly, thinking of it, "Cannibalism -- soquili eating soquili -- causes a lot of health problems.. The Shakes, uncontrolled bursts of laughing... Eventually they are unable to stand and eventual death due to the deterioration of the body. Often passing the illness to the next creature to eat them..." Cabriole dipped his head submissively, "I was trying to remember if it was mostly due to endocannibalism or exocannibalism, and if any of the members I saw of your tribe showed signs of the Illness.. Though it often takes years for it to progress enough to be visible."

Pale brows rose continuously through out his explanation of his thoughts, nearly disappearing into the multi-colored fluff of her mane. Intelligence was hiding behind his clumsy exterior and nerves, a pleasant surprise. Oh she didn't think he was stupid by an means, but the way he spoke now reminded her of how oracles spoke.
She recalled the threat, found herself pleased he'd taken it seriously and remembered it, and now seemed unable to look away from him. "Endo and Exo." She repeated, white brows furrowed. "And that means what exactly?"
He'd also mentioned illness, shakes, laughter, and worse. She thought back through out her lifetime and couldn't remember anyone ever exhibiting though symptoms. Of course other Soquili weren't on the menu often. Only when other prey become scarce and the fear of starvation forced their hand. The general opinion of the sisters was that stallions tended to taste bad.
They may kill a disobeying male, but chances were good he wouldn't be eaten. It did make a very effective threat though. Death was one thing, but being eaten seemed ot strike a lot more fear into a person. Perhaps the threat of being eaten alive.

"Exo means external.. Cannibalism to those outside of your group. Endo means internal -- eating your dead relatives, for example, often cases a ritualized situation, such as passing the life energy out among each other so the other would 'never die' by their energy being shared with yours."
Cabriole shifted a bit awkwardly despite being laid down, unsure of what he was supposed to do now that he was sharing what appeared to be a birds nest, decorated like a bowerbird's stage... Though it was possibly more a magpie nest.

Digging claws into the floor of her nest, she inched her way closer until they were no more then a few inches apart. A twitch of her tail sent feathers fanning out to lay over his rump and tail along with the edge of the nest. Part possessive, and part just making herself comfortable. She was listening intently, though she'd laid her chin down to rest atop refolded talons.
"We do not eat our dead." She frowned, wondering how much to actually say on the subject. He seemed suitably obedient, and wasn't stubborn or stupid like some of the other males, the threat of being eaten seemed over kill. "There are no signs of the sickness you spoke of, because it is not regular practice to consume the males." She let white lids fall over equally white eyes, surveying their immediate surrounded through a veil of pale lashes.
A change of subject was in order, and there were some important rules and regulations he needed to know in order to stay alive and whole within the Flock. "This nest is mine. All things within it belong to me, and that includes you. The threat of my anger should be enough to let you wander untouched through the nesting grounds, but should anyone pester you, you may return here to find safety." Rolling her gaze up, she watched for understanding and reaction, ears falling back lazily against the plumage of her mane.

Relaxing slightly, but enough to be visible, Cabriole nodded slightly, looking around the nest, itchy and uncomfortable with his nerves, "...Understood."
There was a long pause and he laid his head down slightly, looking around and watching the trees. While Azshara seemed to be fairly nice despite her upbringing, the fact that these Soquili lived in tree's unnerved him. Soquili, even flying ones, were not usually able to dwell in the branches.
After a long span of silence he hummed a little note and shifted his gaze her way, his curiosity inching in, and the fact that knowledge bringing power -- according to his godfather at least -- egging him onto finding out what he needed in order to survive, "...Since... Since I'm apparently captive until you tire of me, I should likely know about your tribe... Culture, rituals, Numbers, things I should avoid doing to keep from angering you and your... Sisters?"

Her cheek twitched, almost smiling at the implication that she would eventually tire of him. She somehow doubted it, but she remained quite, letting him hold onto that little hope for the time being. She did smile at his question. One word kept popping into mind as he spoke, smart, and she found herself pleasantly surprised with every new show of intelligence. it was hard not to think he'd survive fairly well within the Flock.
She shifted her chin to watch him better, cheek pillowed against the curve of a claw. "Being knowledgeable about your new home would be wise." She paused, considering what to start with. "This was not our first territory. We were forced to leave behind the ruins and forests we had inhabited for thousands of years when natural disaster robbed us of our food, our water. Only one sister remains there. The Great Mother watches over us, guiding us through whispers that only a few blessed few can hear and interpret. They speak to the queen, but neither of her commanders." She frowned softly, having always envied those rare few with the ability.
A gentle yawn stretched at her jaw, tongue curling much like a felines. Delicate points of teeth that had no business in the mouth of a soquili framed against the darker background of cheek. Not many, but enough that meat was an easy option for diet. "Our numbers have taken a hit. Most of the males and young did not make it on the journey. There are roughly 50 within our Flock, but some days we get word of more having been found..." Another pause, thinking once again. She was keen to hit the main points. The small details would be picked up in time.
"The sisters, all sisters, love music and dance. we have festivals and ritual surrounding it." Mane feathers twitched, fluffing up slightly. "Things to avoid would include talking back, being rude, attempting to escape." Fairly common sense points, in her opinion. "There is a hierarchy amongst us. You have met the queen already, directly under her is Celeano and myself." A somewhat dark smile twitched over her lips. "You should count your blessings, few would dare cross me, and they know I do not share. They will likely not bother you." The implied If they do they will be sorry hung in the air after.

Cabriole listened carefully, absorbing the information without looking directly at her, staring off instead into the darkening distance as the sun continued its path around the world. He then closed his eyes, "and I suppose that's to be my main purpose..? Attempting to keep from being so fearful I cannot..." He blushed and shifted, turning his face away, partially burying his face in the nest, "Ah.. W-well, 'p-p-p'-"
Clearing his throat, he took a deep breath through his nose, "-'perform', so to speak. Fear causes blood to rush to the legs and lungs for flight or fight... And you've noticed I'm not exactly a fighter... And I've never... I'm still fairly young after all." He hummed with a nervous chuckle, "But I am an adult, though.. It'll likely take some time, at least... So is there anything I'm supposed to do other then... Try and help boost your numbers, I suppose.."

Pale eyes blinked at him as he hid his face from her, brows twitching curiously. Lifting her head, she cranned her neck around in attempts to catch a peek at him as he tried to articulate his thoughts. It took her a moment to catch onto his meaning, and when she did she couldn't help the spreading grin that graced her lips. A virgin, oh my.
Tail feathers twitched and folded back neatly, talons digging into the weave of her nest again as she once more belly crawled closer. Tucking her smaller frame up against his side. The feathers of her mane stood on end for a brief moment as she yawned, but settled again as she lay her chin along his side, head slightly turned so she could watch his face(If he pulled it out of the branches of the nest, that is.)
"I'm not going to ravish you." The flesh of her nose gave a slight wrinkle in distaste. "Rapes has no appeal to me." That didn't mean she couldn't, on occasion, get a bit nippy with her affection, but she wasn't about to force anyone.
One taloned foot cam up to rest beside her cheek, digits relaxed. "You are supposed to watch your back and be mindful of the sisters.

His entire body twitched as she pressed in closer to him, and Cabriole feel into a deeper state of embarrassment, "And that's it? I'm not supposed to clean your nest or do physical labor of some sort..?" He thought about it -- it seemed odd that they would kidnap males rather then simply go out, find a herd of males with features they liked, seduce them for that night only, then go back to living with each other if they disliked men and had little use for them save as decoration and reproduction.
However, he finally lifted his head to rest his chin on the edge of the nest, looking up into the leafy canopy with eyes rolled up and brows quirked in a hangdog expression, "...Well... I suppose being defiled in such a manor against my will is one less thing to worry about."

The full body twitch made her originally soft smile rather sharp edged for the briefest of moments. A Cheshire grin, there and gone in less then a second. It was true she sought his adoration, but it didn't change the slight sadistic streak that ran through her. She wasn't going to actively hurt him, in fact she was likely to go to great lengths to keep him safe, but slight discomfort was perfectly acceptable to take pleasure in.
"If you feel so inspired as to clean or assist some of the sisters it will certainly reflect well on you," she mused softly. "I may ask for assistance from time to time, but I won't be giving you chores." She wasn't a fan of manual labor herself, much preferring to supervise.
White eyes were resting lazily on the stallion's face. Not staring, but watching his expression curiously. "Don't look so down, it could be worst, you know."

"It could be... My father could be here as well, breaking my mothers heart.." The Golden soquili barely whispered that, closing his eyes with a soft sigh, speaking slightly louder though still softly, "My life just got turned up on its head, and freedoms stripped from me. While It could be worse, it's still a painful reality to have to absorb in such a short period of time. I might actually feel better if I did have some chores to do in the morning.. Something to occupy myself with."
He chuckled slightly, smiling weakly, "Pity I can't turn Human like my godfather. I'd be able to make artwork to keep my mine occupied."

Zahraa' froze at the whisper, talon flexing aganst his back as she lifted her head to look at him more fully. She was not without a heart, but she did not see the point of dwelling on the negative. She herself tended to focus on the future and what may come, rather then the woes of yesterday. "You are captive, yes," she offered, a frown playing at pale features. "But you're not hurt, or worst. You are not merely a slave. I give you free will enough to live comfortably here with me." Her voice had grown more solid, serious as she spoke, and tone implied he had more to be grateful for then he was showing. She thought herself benevolent, reasonable, and liked to be recognized for it. She could be kind and charitable, or she could be cold and ruthless. The decision was up to him.
Replacing her chin against the point where blue mane met golden hide at the nape if his neck she exhaled sharply through her nose. "If a task is desired, then I am more then happy to oblige. You may assist me as I over see the collection of food for the move, or you may aid the nannies in looking after the young ones."
In her retort she nearly missed his comment on humans and the abilities of his godfather. "A beast that can claim the shape of a two-legger, what nonsense is that?" Her words were harsh, but her voice was curious.
