Ofra Haza, and Chava Alberstein are undoubtedly the divas of Israeli music. Not to mention, Chava Alberstein's been a peace activist since before that was socially required of an Israeli Jew. In any event, I think they're worth a listen.

I love Ofra Haza. I discovered her when I watched Dreamworks' "The Prince of Egypt". Last Lullaby made me cry. ;_;

Rona Kenan - one of my personal favorite, her dad Amos Kenan was a known writer in Israel, she wrote and dedicated entire album in his memory.
Avitar Banai - part of a very talented family, you should check his father too.
Yehudit Ravitz, another 'Diva' - more like one of most influencing artists on the current younger generation.
Yafa Yarkoni - a known singer in Israel, was mostly poplaur in the beginning of the 50's through the 60's.
Efrat Gosh - became "mainstream" with a light party-single called ah,ah,ah from her third album although most her songs tend to touch more serious themes like domestic abuse, violence against women, eating disorder and such .
Marina Maximilian Blumin - another personal favorite, her family immigrated to Israel when she was 3 and she'd preformed in Jazz clubs since 15, she's a singer with tendency to 'remake' old pop & folk songs and poems, an actress and a model to an Israeli big-size women clothes brand called "Onot".
