Maggie groaned. It was certainly not the first time she'd woken up to bright golden eyes and a pretty tan nose pressed to her paler one, and she imagined it wouldn't be the last.

Why does she have to sit RIGHT on my lungs?? Maggie wondered as she cracked her hazel eyes open.

"GOOD MORNING!" Lilah chirped happily.

"Five more minutes, mooooom" Maggie mumbled, rolling over and tossing Lilah off her chest.

"OOOF! Hey!"

Maggie could feel a tiny finger poking her in between her ribs for several moments before she finally sat up. It would be many (many) more moments until she hoisted herself out of bed (at the ungodly hour of 11:43am! ) and pulled a robe around her sparkly midnight blue nightgown.

Lilah was already dressed for the day, having picked out white stocking with a black diamond pattern, a blue checkered skirt with matching suspenders (Maggie wondered about those) over top of a black button up shirt and had braided her hair in two pigtails. Maggie though she seemed oddly like a cross between Dorothy and Alice, but didn't think much of it. Lilah tended to dress in random character-inspired outfits often.

"We're going to Isle de Gambino today, remember?" Lilah asked excitedly. "To get fish!"

Maggie remembered. She didn't know why they had to go all the way out to Gambino to get fish. Lilah had decided they needed FRESH fish and her guardian had promised to take her to get some on Sunday, when the shop was closed. Lilah had said something about finding a fish with a genie in it. And Maggie hadn't questioned (something she seemed to be doing often).

After a late breakfast (and then an even later lunch), they were on their way, riding in the back of a bright orange cab and Lilah asking questions every half-second, Maggie fielding them as best she could.

At a Farmers Market, Lilah ran from stand to stand, examining the fish, picking them up (then dropping them, because they were all cold, from sitting on the ice) and occasionally trying to get them to respond to her questions (What's YOUR name?!?). After several hours of wandering Lilah decided on Blue Seedkins for dinner and a long cab ride back deposited them on their doorstep around 8:30pm.

Although Lilah was yawning every few minutes, she managed to stay away as Maggie fried the fish and served them with mashed potatoes (yum!) and broccoli (Yuck!). The little blond girl's eyes blinked and she slumped back in her chair, still holding her fork.

Smiling, Maggie picked her and carried her gingerly to bed, tucking the covers around Lilah. Yawning herself, she dropped onto the bed beside Lilah, wrapping an arm around her and falling asleep with her shoulder on Lilah's still clothed one (hey, partial marks for at least getting her into bed, right?).
