Taken from Wikipedia: Kamehameha Day on June 11 is a public holiday of the state of Hawaii in the United States. It honors Kamehameha the Great, the monarch who first established the unified Kingdom of Hawaiʻi — comprising the Hawaiian Islands of Niʻihau, Kauaʻi, Oʻahu, Molokaʻi, Lānaʻi, Kahoʻolawe, Maui and Hawaiʻi. Kamehameha is known as the Napoleon of the Pacific for his achievements in warfare and diplomacy.Today a parade runs around Honolulu to celebrate, and lots of tall, (VERY TALL) fragrant lei are draped over the giant Kamehameha statue in front of Iolani Palace, where the last ruling monarch, Queen Liliuokalani, was held prisoner in her own home.

In about an hour I'm heading out the door (again) to catch the bus to town to check it out. Maybe if I get worthwhile pictures, I might come back and post them. I'm not sure yet. =w=;; Oh yes, Hawaii's monarch history is covered in bloody bloody blood. There's a movie out, I'm not sure if it ever hit where you live Lorika, but it's called Princess Kaiulani, and it's about the Queen's daughter being caught between a romance and her duty as heir to the throne (which she never got to fulfill). It's based on the true story, and is beautiful and heartbreaking. Speaking of Morbid, another royal member was held in a church which is now an all-girl's catholic school in town. They rebuilt the interior, but my mother who attended the school as a young girl told me a story about her friends sneaking into a classroom one early morning to lift up the tiles of the roof. They were going to climb up and into one of the towers where the late royalty was kept. They could see where the new part of the building ended and the old part was just covered up. The bedroom door was concrete-sealed up, and the staircase was cut in half. The old wallpaper still clung to the wall, and that's when they heard a noise. Imagine five screaming girls in uniform running out of the classroom, leaving one of them dangling from the roof crying.

If I were one of them I'd just keep going in. Why can't such interesting sites be at my school crying The best we have are ghost stories that are obviously not true.

Nooooo, Bapp, going in there without a Camera Obscura and some Type-61 would be SUICIDE! This is real life - there aren't any save points, and the corrupted ghost of a princess is bound to be a b***h! gonk Maybe even final-boss-battle-worthy?! Better make sure you've got some sacred water just in case...

Depends what difficulty setting your life is on. If it's Hard or Nightmare, you can forget about it. But Easy or Normal... you might be in with a shot.

*sings* "History tells us there lived a king that was a warrior bold, He was tall and handsome and he lived to be quite old, So then one day he made up his mind to conquer the Hawaiian isles, He didn't have any fear, for victory rang in his ear.
King Kamehameha, the conqueror of the islands Became a famous hero one day He fought a native army And pushed it over the pali And crowned himself king of Hawaii nei
When the fray was overm he took the islands over And this is what he had to say: Ua mau ke ea o ka aine i ka pono Auwe kealoha e"
And on his throne he sat alone Waiting for a big luau Royal maidens fair We're gathered there To greet him with a grand welakahwo
King Kamehameha, the conqueror of the islands Became a famous hero one day. He fought a native army And pushed it over the pali And said: "Auwe no hoi e, Auwe no hoi e"
King Kamehameha, the conqueror of the islands Became a famous hero one day. He fought a native army And pushed it over the pali And said: "Auwe kamake e, Auwe kamake e" "
