It was a sunny day, and people were busy going to their jobs. However, some people have stopped at one specific spot on the sidewalk. If you listen carefully, you can hear... a trumpet. Playing this trumpet was a preteen sitting down, eyes closed(obviously letting the music flow through his soul). In front of him, there was the trumpet case open with a couple coins in it. Every time someone would place something nice in the case, his appendages would nod in thanks. The boy was tapping his foot in beat.

Phoebe skipped down the street, her toeclaws making a soft clicking sound with every step that she took. Her long tail waved behind her, helping her to keep her balance as she moved. IT was needed, too, because even though she wouldn't tell her J-Mama anything about it, the sight in her right eye had been going all. .. . weird lately. Everything on her right side seemed fuzzy, somehow. She couldn't really describe it, and sometimes it got better, so she never mentioned it to her mother. Besides, with the brand-new baby at home, Jadyn had her hands full!
This also meant that it was much, much easier for the child to sneak out. Phoebe paused in her skipping to do a little pirouette in place, then continued on, only to stop as she heard the sound of ... was that a trumpet? Intrigued, she picked up her pace to a jog and followed the sound, her long ears perking up the closer she got.
Click, click, click, went her toeclaws, and her tail waved behind her as she picked up speed, finally coming to a dead halt in front of the trumpet player. Not wanting to interrupt his playing,she stood for a minute and watched him, then smiled and, without saying a word to the older boy, started to improvise a dance to the tune of the music that was being played.

He kept playing, but his ears perked at the sound of something clicking. It was a couple minutes later when he finished his current song. He smiled, and bowed in place when he heard the clanks of coins being thrown into his trumpet case, "Thank you, all. Have a wonderful day!" The boy beat his foot down again, and his head turned to the girl, who was dancing, smiling, "You dance beautifully." His eyes looked dusty yellow.

Phoebe stopped her dance and sat down next to the boy, her tail wrapping around her a bit once she was in place. "Thank you!" she chirped, and was about to mention how she hadn't ever had any dance lessons and wouldn't it be nice if she had - when she remembered that the last time she'd tried such a thing, she's lost her attempt at making a friend. So instead, she swallowed her initial response and smiled, adding instead, "You play the trumpet really well. What's your name? I'm Phoebe!" If she noticed the dusty yellow of his eyes, she didn't mention it. Who cared if a person had different eyes when they could play pretty music?

The boy put the trumpet bell on his leg as he listened, and smiled, "My name's Kyler." The tentawings' 'heads' looked over at Phoebe. "These are my wings. Don't be afraid of them, they're actually really nice. Their names are Tui and La." He gestured to the both of them. Kyler thought for a moment, "Would you mind doing me a favor, and count the money I have in my case, and split it up, into two different piles, evenly?"

"Sure, no problem!" Phoebe chirped and sat down to do just that - only to pause after a moment and tilt her head questioningly. "But wait, why? Do you pay Tui and La?" she asked, blinking and pausing to rub at her right eye.

Kyler made a small smile and giggled, "No~! You'll see in just a sec." This was going to be funny. He was going to keep quiet until after she finished splitting.

"Well, okay," Phoebe said uncertainly, resuming her counting and only looking up now and then, wondering why the other spawn kept giggling. As she counted, she strated to strike up a conversation. "Do you spend lots of time out here? I wander around a lot because J-Mama gets tired of me knocking books off of the shelves with my tail. . ." She didn't add that she also ran away a lot - she always went home in the end, after all!

Kyler smiled, "Well, I have a big brother that has two jobs. I'm just trying to help out as best as I can by using my talent." The boy tilted his head, "You have a tail?" He wasn't going to ask if she was from the place because he didn't know if she really DID come from there, and it might be an insult to her.

"Uh-huh, I have a tail," Phoebe said with a giggle,turning enough to wave the feathered body part just under Kyler's nose, tickling him with it. "And you have a big brother?" she asked, tilting her head and finishing up the moneysorting. "I have a little brother; his name is Kupo. And there, done with the money!" Phoebe giggled and dropped one pile carefully onto Kyler's lap, leaving the rest in the hat and sitting it next to him. "I hope it counted it right; I help J-Mama with this kind of thing sometimes, but she never has this much in one day. . ."

The tickle made him giggle, and itch his nose. Kyler nodded, "Yup. He's almost like me, but he has two different types of wings on his arms, and he says he has only one eye." The boy handed her the hat, "Now, this is why I was wanting to split it!" He carefully dumped the money in front of her. "For your performance."

Phoebe tilted her head, staring in awe at the money. "I can't take this," she said, pushing the money back in Kyler's direction. "I only danced for a little bit, and J-Mama and I don't need the money that bad - you made the pretty music, so the money should be yours!" she chirped, patting Kyler's hand with her own, slightly scaled one. "Are you going to keep playing now, or do you want to go play somewhere else?" She asked cheerfully, beaming a happy smile even though she guessed that the boy couldn't see it.
