OOC Info: This is a private rp of all Sevati x Ravi and Jesenya x Kairav's family. All those that need to do the rites in order to become an adult in the pride need to post here. Please make a post of your lion going into the water, treading in the water for a while and then concluding with the family cheering them on. As I have so many lions of this family, it is assumed that Sevati, Ravi, Kairav, Jesenya, Azi, Kaja, Are'nui, and the leader are watching over the rites. This is to help keep me sane by not having to rp them all at once! Thank you!

**Remember! If your lion does not do these rites, they cannot breed!!**

This was the day she had been waiting for. Jalela had remembered watching her aunts and uncles go through their rites. It was a very nerve-wracking day! To think that she thought some of them wouldn't be able to do it only to be proven wrong. Her family was the greatest, so there was no reason to fear!

Although, she was still very nervous. She didn't want to disappoint her parents and her family. They were all watching her in anticipating at becoming an adult in their pride. It was a big deal and she's been trying to prepare herself for the past few days as she still worried over her performance.

She reached forward to nuzzle her grandmother. Family was extremely important to her, as they were very close knit. She idolized her grandmother, for she was what she wanted to be! And then with a loving glance at her parents, she nodded her head. "I'm ready. I will do my best for all of you!" She told them proudly with her head held high!

After that she walked towards the water. The waves were coming in rather calmly, nothing too rough and choppy today! This was definitely a good sign from the ocean, as it was ready to accept her. She breathed in deeply and exhaled slowly to calm her tittered nerves. With her gaze fixed forward into the horizon, she walked slowly into the water. Each step was calm and calculated. Each step forward was a step towards a new beginning. A rebirth in the pride as an adult!

She continued walking until she felt herself struggle to reach the ocean floor. It didn't take long before her paws weren't touching the bottom any longer and she was floating. The waves were a bit bigger out here as she found herself treading in the water with more effort. A wave came towards her and washed itself over her face. She shook herself to get the water off of her face as she smiled. This was what she was waiting for! Happiness and joy radiated from her as she turned to head back towards the shore, and her family.

Once her paws hit the ocean floor, she made her way proudly out of the water as she called out to her family, "I did it! I did it!" She was just so happy to finally be able to join the ranks with her parents and family.

No fair, Jalela had gotten to go first!

Lulu scowled, pouting as she watched her sister, claws kneading into the sand beside her as an outlet for her stress. This was a very stressful time for the lioness - it was no secret that she wasn't the biggest fan of water. She most certainly hadn't been looking forwards to her Rites, and had told herself that she'd refuse to go through with it.

But now she was here...and everyone was watching. Her mother, her grandmothers, they were all watching. And Jalela had managed it...if her sister could do it, so could she!

Lulu charged up the beach with a burst of speed, that may have sprayed sand on those behind her. She gave some sort of a cry as she reached the shore, and some may have noticed her falter just a little before she dropped herself into the chilly water, taking a few faltering stumbles before she suddenly stopped with another cry - this one far more frightened. Not necessarily of the water, that wasn't the problem - it was just so COLD!

She gave a sharp shudder and turned back with a pleading gaze - she didn't want to do this! She took a step back to the beach, but cries of encouragement reached her ears and she stopped once more. She didn't want to look like an idiot...and Jalela had done it! With those thoughts pushing her onwards, Lulu turned back to the large expanse of water and continued forwards, a lot more cautiously than before. As the waves began to push her feet off of the ground she paniced, squeezing her eyes shut and forcing her legs to kick her forwards. The chilly water rose up further and further until she was completely submerged - Lulu was underwater.

She opened her eyes and gasped at the beauty of it. She'd never expected such beauty. But the gasp turned out to be a bad move as she emerged, coughing up the salty water as she stumbled back to shore, making it to the beach as she coughed up the last of it. ...Whoops, that was subtle. She looked up, though, face beaming as she raced back to her family, proudly declaring:

"I did it!"

It was time.

Everything in Uurmi's life had led up to this point, this moment. All the days she'd spent sitting on the sands, staring at her dear friend and just talking. She remembered some of the other cubs had teased her for talking to the ocean - they'd said it wasn't alive and couldn't talk back. So why was she insisting it was her friend?

Of course, it hadn't bothered her. They didn't understand her relationship with the ocean, and they never would.

It was a long while before she worked up the courage, and with a quick look to her family, Uurmi began to walk out into the waters. The salt water felt nice on her fur, and each wave pushed past her legs with a force she hadn't expected. But she didn't let it discourage her. She pushed forward until the water rushed just below her chest, and she just kept going.

Soon enough, the water began to wash over her even more, lifting her paws from the sands beneath them. Something fluttered in her chest as the waters swelled around her, lifting her up even further until she couldn't hope of touching the sands without swimming ashore. For a long while, she simply remained there, treading water until she was certain she'd been out there long enough.

And then she turned and began swimming ashore to the cheers of her family. Unknown to them, Uurmi whispered a quick thanks to the ocean for keeping her safe, and while there was no verbal answer, she liked to think the sudden rush of a wave that pushed her further ashore was the ocean's way of saying 'you're welcome.'

The day had finally come, and he was ready! Mahatma watched his sisters swim into the water and return, then started for it himself. With his family watching, as well as the pride's leader, he had shed his usual slacker-like demeanor, walking proud and... Well, tall wasn't a great word, since he wasn't fully grown yet.

The waves washing over his paws brought Mahatma back to Earth. He looked at the waves, wiggling his toes in the sand as it washed away beneath them. It made him smile, the way they felt, and the way the sand felt. He slowly made his way out into the water, enjoying as it washed through his coat and mane. Soon the sand fell away, and he was free-floating in the gentle waves.

The gentle rocking was hypnotic, almost lulling him. The teal lion smiled, paddling a bit, before heading back. Gently, a sloping wave lifted him, as if the sea were giving him a ride back, a rare taste of something a lion was physically incapable of doing under normal circumstances. His paws soon touched the sand again, carrying his soggy body out of the surf and up the beach. He didn't run and whoop, it wasn't his style. Instead, he smiled his lazy, surfer smile, not bothering to shake the water from his coat.

"Look at me, I'm an adult now!" Okay, he would whoop this once... He went over to butt his head against his sisters' shoulders, happy to join them in adulthood. The bigger affection, though, was showed to his parents, as he rubbed against his mother. Never mind that he was getting her wet... He was joyous!

She was ready. She had always been ready. The sea had never scared her. The sea had been friend, soother, kindness and - most importantly - adventure. She had loved the sea the moment she had set her young, innocent eyes upon it and she loved it all the more now. She loved the tides, the sound of the frothy waves breaking against the shore. She loved to imagine what lay across it. She loved to imagine what monsters lived in its depths, just waiting to emerge.

She sighed, breathing in that salty air and watched as her relatives made their rite of passage. Watched as they stripped themselves of childhood and became adults before her very eyes, proving to everyone that they were capable of standing amongst those waves.

She had to admit that she was a little sad about this day. She was a child at heart. Looking for adventure. Living in a world of daydreams where anything could happen. Would she be expected to leave all that behind or could she - even as an adult - live by the whims of that childlike streak that still beat strong in her heart?

She raised onto all fours, drew in another deep breath, closing her eyes so that she could focus on the scent and the sound of the great expanse that waited to embrace her. To accept her. Suddenly a thrill of excitement ran through her. This was it. After today she could take up a true role within the pride.

With a whoop of joy she launched herself down towards the sea, her paws thudding against the sand, leaving a spray of gold in her wake.

Her paws met the shallows but she kept going, not even bothering to slow down and she met the first big wave head on. It crashed against her with surprising strength and she ducked her head and rose up to emerge from its trailing foam. She was soaked from the tips of her ears to the end of her tail but all she could do was laugh with joy, spluttering as she got a mouthful of sea water. She pushed against the cobbled floor, struck out with powerful swipes of her limbs and swam further still, swishing her tail in an attempt to manoeuvre in an arch, intending to sort of circle back around to join the others, some of whom were already heading back to where the adults waited.

Someday, she thought to herself, it will be me on the sand and my children out here...

Her heart was thudding with the adrenaline and another wave broke down over her head, wetting her thoroughly for the second time.

With another shove, she began the short swim back to the shallows where she would wade the rest of the way and join her family. Her family. The ones more important to her than anything in the world.

It was a time long in coming and one Sunita was glad for. The lioness would, at long last, be able to walk among her peers as a recognized adult. Excited and anxious at the same time, she joined her brethren on the shore for the short pre-ceremony gathering that accompanied such prodigous events

Family was an important thing to her, she never strayed too far from the home dens and put the others before herself, doing her best to honour them. And now... now that hard work would be rewarded and recognized!

Slowly, she took her turn and made her way into the water. At the very edge of the waves, she dug her toes into the sands and revelled in the feel of the familiar terrain, taking the time to reflect on where she'd come from. Moving forward, step by step, she made an effort to move with the waves and watch the shallow impressions of her paws be gently scrubbed away by the water's motion.

She strode purposefully in after the initial pause and when the water was up to her chest and touching bottom was difficult, Sunita dunked her head in a small dive and burst through the surface as the tides rolled fully in and took her weight into itself. It was a refreshing feeling, joyful as she paddled about, tail flicking and spraying water over her back.

A few minutes later, when she felt it was time and that she was ready, Sunita made her way back to shore to the roars and calls of delight from family and friends. Her childhood had been cleansed and her future brightened by this rite.

She was now an adult!

Sahaja wasn't too worried about this thing. He knew he was an adult, even if he didn't quite look it yet. All he had to do was prove it to everyone else. And what better way to do that, disregarding the fact that it was tradition and there was no other way, then by showing them how he could swim?

He didn't mind waiting for his turn. In fact, he liked watching his siblings take their turns, watching them as they triumphed as he thought he would, too. He was proud of them, his chest all but puffed out in a very obvious show of this pride and happiness.

Taking a breath, he moved out to the water, deciding to do things his way. He had always been an energetic and fun loving young lion, and he approached this the same way he approached life in general. He wanted to have fun. So he ran out into the water, splashing all over the place until the water was up to his knees.

He started walking then, and soon enough his paws were no longer touching the ground. The waves weren't as troublesome as he had thought they might be, and he swam as he had seen his siblings do, turning around when he thought he had proven himself and swimming back into the shore.

He charged up the beach, nuzzling anyone that got in his path, shaking off his fur and keeping an eager, happy grin on his face. Though he was now an adult, that didn't mean he had to shirk off all his childish ways. And if being happy and loving was childish, he imagined they were all still kids, anyway. Including his parents, the leaders: everyone. He grinned at the thought.

Motee loved the water. He loved the shore, the sand, the seashells, the sounds, the sea birds, the fish--everything. But before now, he had only watched others swim. Before now, he hadn't even really gone into the water all the way. Sure he had gotten his paws wet, but for Motee, the water was off-limits. Now, however, was the time to prove himself.

Now was the time to enter the waves.

Gold eyes excited and sucking up everything around him, the male lion watched his family members wade out one by one. Each one took their own time, and Motee sat on his own in the warm sands, waiting until he got that feeling--that sense that would tell him it was his turn. He closed his eyes, trying to calm his nerves. A smile twitched onto his face, eyes still closed, as his mind wandered over everything he had done in his life up until that point. He had learned so many things, done so much...now was his time to become a true adult. No longer was he a small boy prancing up and down the shoreline, treasure hunting for rare shells.

With a strange sensation that something comforting was welling up inside his chest, the male scraped away from the sands and headed down to the shore. Without a word to anyone, he walked. Each lion had their own way of seeing the rites, and something in the usually talkative Motee was quiet.

The tide went out, then flushed in, washing over Motee's paws. The hairs on his back stood up at the coldness, but it made him grin. Heart pounding, he walked through the water. He walked, and walked, head up high until his chest hit the water. Still, he walked. Perhaps he was so caught up in the moment--the excitement and the thrill of proving to the pride, his family, and himself, that he could swim--he could truly be an adult, had made his paws move quickly along the ground. He kept on going with no hesitation.

This was better than treasure-hunting!

Finally, he stood still, waiting for the embrace of the incoming waves. He had come this far, it was too late to back out. Pff, besides, why would he back out? This was awesome. So there he stood, gold eyes lit and standing tall, waiting. Slowly, but surely, the waves rolled in, rocking the male back and forth, making him sway. They grew in size and number until they began to wash over him entirely. With each one that passed, the male closed his eyes, somehow feeling more and more free. Still, the waves came, washing over him and swaying his feet. When Motee's paws began to miss steps as the ocean's sands left him, his heart leapt to his throat and he almost inhaled water as he gasped. But he recovered quickly, heart still pounding, eyes wide and jaw crooked in a grin. There was no longer any ground beneath him. He was treading water. He gazed out at the horizon, watching the waves roll in and out, the sun casting a million glittering sparkles of light. It was beautiful. The lion took a deep breath, then exhaled, eyes closing. When they opened again, his eyes were determined; his grin faded to a dull smirk. With an adventurous look on his face, the male dunked himself completely underwater.

After several moments, he surfaced with a loud gasp, red mane flopping over his face and sprays of water flying all around him. He swam back to shore as quick as he could, smiling crookedly all the way. When his paws hit sand, he began to run, hardly able to contain the strange sense of fun he was feeling.

"THAT WAS AWESOME!" Motee shouted, triumphant.

Yeah...It felt good to be an adult.

For a long time he had hesitated, he wasn't sure if he was ready, he was not sure how the ocean would fully accept his will and strength as an individual. He was worried the waves would envelope him and not have him be ready at all. These things that worried him made Arun realize why he had not journeyed into the waves yet, childish fear.

What did he have to fear, he wondered as he stepped down the sand towards the water turning the sand dark and then light again as it receded backwards.

His family was with him, his younger siblings eager, doing their part and stepping faster than his paws. How long had it been, since they had grown up before his eyes? He loved them all, and with them here, his family, his father and mother near, it gave him strength.

Slowly he made his way into the water, to his paws, knees, chest and up to his neck. He felt the salt water surge around him, grasp him and pull him in as if embracing him. Arun smiled, closed his eyes and took a breath as a wave crashed before him, foam surging over his mane and becoming one in the same.

As the water pulled back, Arun breathed the salt air into his lungs and let himself become one, and smile.

Just as he wasn't ready to go in just yet, now, he was not ready to leave.

But the time had come and passed, and as he left he waves, a bright joy was in his pale eyes, and he felt not only his family's love, but the love of the ocean and it's waves in his heart forever more.

To be honest, Farooq hadn't cared about becoming an adult. Adults had responsibilities, had to, well, be adults! He had had plenty of fun up to that morning just being himself, laying around and relaxing. He wasn't quite sure he wanted to be one of the real adults, even if he'd finally grown into his full size...

But he couldn't just let the others have their names shouted and cheered in the water without him, could he? No, no, the ocean was all too inviting. It and he, they were like two peas in a pod, two fish in the sea (he laughed to himself thinking of that), two...well something that went together. He was calm and collected, seeming only half-interested as he took his turn, stepping out into the water. It was cold and made him feel alive. A deep breath...mm! Man he loved living by the sea! He waded out eagerly, taking big strides out to where he could finally kick off and swim.

A wave came, breaking over him. taking that as a sign, he took a gulp of air and dove. His eyes stung slightly as he opened them, but it was alright. The light coming down from above was gorgeous to see, though there weren't many fish around today this close to shore. Still underwater he paddled around, seeing how long he could be so fully wrapped in the sea's embrace...hopefully no one on the surface was worrying about him just yet! It didn't occur to him that they might think he'd drowned...Soon enough he broke the surface again, and with his mane hanging limp and soggy in his eyes, he swam easily back to shore, where he waded out and let himself drip on the sands.

Look out world, he was an adult now!

Cub-hood seemed to have disappeared in what felt more like a blink of an eye. The world around her had become a more familiar place; a place of secrets, wonder and treasures to be found in the strangest, most unexpected, places. Gentle eyes settled upon the shoreline, peering out towards the surf and its thrumming swells that lapped at the sands, foamy fingers grasping whatever it could find and pulling it back into the blue abyss. As a member of the Bahari'mtoto, Saryu adored the sea. Much like her brothers and sisters, she too had been restrained from entering the surfs' domain and for as long as she could remember simply watched from the sidelines. Not that it bothered her or etched a jealous mark on her longing heart- they were simply moments where she contemplated what lay ahead.

A dreamer. An optimistic, philosophical soul who sought to do whatever she could for the sake of another. That's who Saryu was. Selfless, yes, but she did it out of love rather than craving recognition. Attention was perhaps the last thing she desired as a result of a simple act of kindness. Even as she was still adjusting to her adult figure the lioness still wrestled with her shyness.

But perhaps now would be a turning point, a fresh start to a new beginning as a true 'adult'. A hopeful sigh escaped from out of her maw as the lioness felt something stir inside of her, a spark kindling within of her chest that engulfed her in warmth that even the sun-soaked sands could ever attempt to muster. Was this it? This feeling inside her-- it was strange but she welcomed it. The time when a Bahari'mtoto member was destined to fulfill their rites of passage was different for each and every lion.

Quietly, Saryu was beginning to understand that this was her time.

As the tide pulled out towards the ocean mistress once more, Saryu rose to her paws and began to meekly approach the great deity. The sensation in her chest swelled as the sea seized her paws gently, wrapping itself around her with a cool embrace. A tender smile curled upon her maw as she continued to gingerly walk through the water. In her eyes, the ocean had always been a powerful entity who had blessed the lives of her pride with much bounty and wealth. Certainly now was a more opportune time for her to give due respect to the sea which had blessed she and her family, the entire pride, with such good fortunes.

She lifted each paw with thought as she waded through the waters, holding her head up high until the waters breached up toward her chest. For a moment she stalled as she glanced back toward the shore where the rest of her family stood. Her mind tugged gently with the encompassing idea that this was not only a new beginning, this was a new adventure- a new quest to understand life once again but, this time, through the eyes of an adult. Turning her attention back onto the sea, the lioness breathed softly and exhaled calmly.

She could do this.

Out in the distance the sets of waves began to roll forward, its caps towering from out of the big blue and cresting over itself. She could feel the sands beneath her paws begin to slip, the ocean churning the granular foundation underfoot with so much as a flick of its current. Moments later the waves came, dousing over her with its pure, ritual cleansing waters. There was barely any time left to think or even meander so much in another swell of thought as she quickly inhaled a breath of air before being tumbled about within the seas very own refinery; waves washing the old and bringing forth the new. Submerged beneath cascading tide, Saryu felt something pull her upward. Her head was first to break through the surface as she gasped, inhaling a lungful of salty air as the surf became subtle. Unconsciously her paws seemed to paddle, keeping her afloat as the sandy bar which she had stood upon had been dismantled by the tide. She was treading water.

She had done it.

Elated while mindful of the ocean, Saryu swam back to shore as a broad grin stretched across her maw. Once her paws found their foundation and planted themselves upon the shoreline sands she walked holding her head up just a bit more than usual. Her eyes radiated with a new found sheen.

"So it begins," she mused to herself with a grin, "and I'm anxious to learn whatever there is to know."

Last among the siblings to take their turn in the ancient Bahari'mtoto rite was Faatina, to no one's surprise. She sat upon the sand contemplatively, a small smile upon her face as she watched each of her brothers and sisters take part in actively becoming an adult in the eyes of the pride. Each glowed as they exited the water, clearly displaying to all who looked on their new colors. As each took their place in the ocean and finished their rite of passage into adulthood, Faatina remained in her place upon the sand with no intention of going next. It wasn't the she disliked the water (an impossibility within the pride) or wasn't excited, she merely preferred to watch each of her siblings complete their change without her overwhelming anxiety surrounding being a new-found adult took over.

Once Saryu emerged from the ocean bright-eyed, Faatina realized she was the only actual cub left on-shore. Glancing up at Jesenya, Faatina rose to her feet and confidently strode toward the ebbing sea. The moment her paws hit the water, a bright smile spread across her face. 'This is it,' Tina thought, slapping her tail into the water despite the serious occasion. Taking a deep breath, she padded further into the water, feeling the gentle waves pulling her small body to and fro. Once her legs were nearly devoured by the salty-sweet water, she could feel her paws lift off the ground. Closing her eyes, Faatina savored the moment.

As the waves continued to toss Faatina's body in the gentle way it always seemed to handle the cubs of the tribe, she swore she could almost feel herself growing inside. Although she was enjoying the moment of her passage into adulthood, it soon came to an end. Her paws soon felt the sand rise to meet them once again, causing Tina's eyes to snap open and her smile to soften. No longer a cub, she knew she should act accordingly. She turned around to face her family, a radiant smile upon her face. Pawing slowly back to shore whilst feeling her face heat up a tad, Faatina struggled to maintain composure as she thought over and over of her new place within the pride. Pawing her way back to her family, she broke out in a huge grin, glancing over her equally-soaking brothers and sisters. "We did it!" she spoke, a tad louder than usual, to her siblings. More than her feeling of self-accomplishment was the overwhelming pride she felt as she looked about the family she belonged to, the home she lived in, feeling a crushing amount of inexplicable happiness. 'Is this what being an adult feels like?'
