The smell of a fresh kill wafted through the air until a hoof saw fit to kick dirt over the remains. It was just a small rabbit, hardly filling, but he hadn't been all that hungry in the first place. And in his state of disinterest, the meat hadn't tasted much better than a leafy vine would have instead. Snorting, he finished the work of covering what was left. The scent unmasked would likely attract scavengers, and though Hävitys was sure he had done a decent job, he didn't feel like waiting around to see. The snarls of someone eating the bony leftovers didn't sound appealing at all.

So he turned off to the edge of the trees, rolling his shoulders and causing the spikes at his back to shift and creak heavily. His bulky form pressed deep prints into the softer soil at the edge of grass and barren land. When he came upon a decent bush, he rubbed against it in a vague attempt to clean the quickly cooling blood from his maw. It mostly did the trick, although his tusks were still obviously stained, the instruments of the earlier rabbit's fall. It was something he would have to deal with when he came upon the river or a stream. For now, he was hardly bothered.

Turning away from the trees, his objective met, he stalked across the area. As the grass grew longer and longer near the middle of the clearing, it tickled against his legs and he huffed. This was not a good place to settle. Though he assumed many rabbits lived here in the protection of the grass, he grew irritated at the thought of moving through it on a daily basis.

User ImageEnali move around the trees, stepping lightly. She was feeling a little sad. The birds had finally caught onto her, and they were not lured in by her facade of innocence, and only the young ones could she ever lure to the blue flower beside her ear. And they couldn't hold the same amount of nectar as the adults could. She sighed again. Well, it was a good treat. Now she'd just have to find some other way to lure the tasty treats back into range.

She continued aimlessly wondering the direction she was going, when she threw her head up and scented the air. Blood. Fresh blood. Something had been killed no so long ago. She giggled in a high-pitched manner she had adopted, and went trotting forward, her steps high and her spirits lifted. Hopefully, it was some kind of predator that had fallen from a tree and speared itself. Those were always fun to come across. Even the remainders of a buffalo kill could be dealt with. They were tough stringy creatures, but if you caught them young they were a great treat.

As she drew closer though, where the scent was stronger, she could finally identify the source. It was just a rabbit. She snorted in displeasure, intent to turn away, when the scent started to dissipate. Something was covering the kill. Which is probably the thing that killed it. Giggling again at the thought of maybe still being able to eat cougar, she crept into the area, only to discover that the other was gone. But there was a slight scent of blood. Curiously, she trailed it.

With little else to do and a mostly full stomach, Hävitys had continued to travel at a leasurely pace through the grass. It was true, the obnoxious length didn't seem to shorten at all in this area. It definitely wouldn't be good to settle for the long term, but he didn't see anything wrong with staying for a few days and catching a few rabbits before moving on. A yawn stretched his maw. The sun was high enough in the sky that a nap was in order. If he could find a big enough rock to lean against, he could stomp down the grass and stop to sunbathe.

Lifting his head high, he glanced around the area. Nothing obvious from what he could see, not yet, but a breeze blew past him from the direction he had come and he froze, turing around. His nose was his best hunting partner, the only sense he could say truly came in handy while hurtling as fast as he could go at whatever prey was unlucky enough to come across him. Still, he saw nothing.

He was wary now, though, he had scented her. Snorting, he turned back the way he was going. Most of the time things he scented weren't a threat. They were usually smaller animals, although this one wasn't close enough for him to be sure. If they were something bigger, they usually circled around him. Heck, it could have been going in the opposite direction, who knew. But his muscles remained tensed as he walked. Now was not the time for a sun bath after all.
