Starting off on looking at ideas for novel. What are people looking at doing and what are their time goals? Discuss ideas and plans.
My goal is to get mine done in two months. It's going to be a vampire novel, not a lot of romance as of yet, new vamp, main character is idiot college kid. I'm going to look at how she and her peers react to her "condition".

I've had this really complicated plot in my mind for years now, sort of a Good vs. Bad, Demons vs. Angels but a very gritty, dark plot. It's more complicated than it sounds, not sure I can really discuss it without giving too much away.
It's the main idea floating in my head that if I were to start a novel, I'd write that.
When I have the time, I'll see if I can get a start to it.
But for now, I'd like to see what other people are writing and see how I can help them. smile

I've been working on a novel for two years... 1 1/2 of that was research. ^^;
It's a medieval fantasy that combines real world logic and your standard magical universe logic (with my own twist). There are three main characters, all 15 years old. (Back then, 15-16 was like our 18-20 year olds in the eyes of the law.) Mina Bennett - a mage apprentice and only one of the group who can use magic. Karon Foreman - a thief and the "muscleman" of the group. Adler Fletcher - an archer and the tactician of the group.
I have the basic plot thought out as well as three side-plots, although I still haven't found a good name that fits the villain. DX
Until I finish the extra research I'm doing, it is on hold. To sharpen my skills, I am working on a crossover fic.
I'm hoping to have revisions for chapters 1 and 2 of my fan fic as well as the release of chapter 3 out before July gets here.
As for my novel... Only God knows how long that could take. DX I should have the preface done before school starts for my siblings, though.

I have several ideas floating around in my head. Only a few I actually want to get down on paper, er, on a computer document. One involves keys, another involves a false prophet of sorts.
The power to "see" into the future is passed on through the family... he (Main antagonist) didn't get it. He basically kills his dad, kills his brother, and then his grandfather so that he would be the only one who would have the "power". But he doesn't. So he has to fake all of it, and push the boundries to try and see how far this "power" can take him. Then, one of the main characters bumps into while he's on one of his "charity" walks. It just escalates from there. P: Involves a resistance, and the main character being banished to the 4th layer of the city: The sewers.
I would like to get started on this sometime in the near future. Probably before summer ends. My time of finishing? Hopefully before I die... okay, maybe in 2-3 years. I'm a procrastinator, so I haven't done a lot of research, and I haven't really started on... anything.

Most of it was on the Middle Ages itself. It took so much time because I had to do all kinds of research. Some of the things I researched from that time period included the food they ate, the age you were considered to be an adult, how old someone could be to join the army, the different types of soldiers, the languages they spoke during that time, and even how they dressed and acted. Alternate research was more or less me looking up Latin and Germanic languages that were spoken. As it turns out, the language spoken depended on status in society and which part of Europe the person lived in. (Ex. Only those with the highest education, such as those in the church, knew how to speak Latin.) I also researched what kind of scenery I should portray to the reader just by taking walks around forest areas.

I'm writing a fantasy book that doesn't really need a lot of research for it takes place in a world I created. It involves Light vs Darkness and Demons. Most of the people in this world are born with control over one element and I plan on making a sequel for it if it does well.
Characters.
Deltryxz: He is the protagonist a young man with crimson color long hair that has been training for ten years of his life to be a great warrior in agreement to his living in the castle of the Emperor. He has control over darkness naturally.
Lucinda: Deltryxz's sister and one of the maids in the castle of the Emperor. She is the personal maid of the Princess Sandrial as part of the agreement for them to live in the castle. Not much is known about her power except she has random bursts of see the world through other eyes.
Vercion: The Emperor and the one who rules over his Kingdom and is the driving force behind all of the stuff Deltryxz and his group do.
Sandrial: The Princess and Vercion's daughter she has a interest in Deltryxz and often watches him train most days. She is rumored to be able to control water.
Marlene: A girl around the same age as Deltryxz and is part of the squad he is put in. She tends to be action before thinking and is often scolded by the others for it. She has the ability to control nature.
Denerous: Another member of Deltryxz's group. He thinks ahead before the battle and plans the strategy they will use in the next battle. He can control the wind.
Kerdex: The last member of Deltryxz's group he is more muscular then the other members and wields duel axes to prove it. He adds some important notice to when there is something the others missed when planning a strategy. He has the power to control fire.

In terms of vampire-related novels, I want to see something about actual vampires and how they originally were. Monsters. Not teens who run around like chickens with their heads cut-off in some chic-flick style romance.
That may sound a bit harsh, but I think vampires do better as unloving hostile creatures. Especially towards humans.
I was thinking of either a war against a cursed kingdom, wheres it turns out the lord, count, etc. is a vampire, and the protagonist and a few of his men are locked inside the castle, as they try to make it out alive in the god forsaken castle, or instead of a war and troop, making it present day, as a lost traveler, explorer, etc. stumbles in on the remote castle and he fights his way out.
Something like that.
I would do it, but I have my own projects to worry about right now. :/

That makes sense, just whatever you can do here.

I had easy access to the library, and since it was a "class" that I was getting a high school credit for I had plenty of time to just sit down and do research. When I got home, I'd search topics pertaining to the story's themes and setting on the computer both to obtain new information and to match it up to what I found in the books. Since the laws of magic depend on the writer, I had to sit down and get very creative. All of these I made notes for... and the notes have taken up a whole notebook and 2/3 of another. sweatdrop
