Do I have a better chance of Getting a plate doing a Hunting quest or Capture quest?

I think hunting it as long as you wound it's wings and head. But you should make sure that you cut the tail off since there is a chance of carving a Plate from it.

It's not necessarily a higher chance when you capture, but when you break her head and cap there is a slightly better chance of finding one.
It's only better to cap because you cannot carve a plate from the corpse. So seeing how as you get a few extra rewards in the rewards screen for capping you potentially get one extra chance of getting one (one from the regular rewards and one from the special capture rewards --- of course it's only 3% a drop sadly, but still).
So!
1- Cut the tail => 3% chance to carve
2- Break the head => makes the plate possible to show up in rewards
3- Capture => plates can't be carved, capturing gives you extra rewards which in turn gives you an extra chance to get a plate.

I'm not sure if this is true or not but I noticed that the Rathian plate (at least for me) dropped a little more often in single player. Online I killed at least 10 Rathians and got no plate but offline I killed about 6 and got 2. Just something I noticed

I spent 3 days and killed/captured over 13 rathians to get the one plate for my Sieglinde.
