A graveyard was the perfect place for a Spirit dance! The problem was...it was all Gravey and there were so many dead bodies around. It was hard to find a place where she could perform her dance without stepping on someone's resting site! Finally though she did locate a nice spot. She supposed it was meant to be a resting place for the grieving. There was a big old tree with some stone bench's underneath it. A tiny little stone circle was placed rather properly between the bench's and was filled with seasonal flowers. The shade made it nice here and the large grassy expanse surrounded by headstones made it pretty scenic. Crysta set her back pack down on one of the bench's and rummaged around inside until she found her CD player and a pair of small portable speakers. She set them up on the edge of the bench, and with the pressing of a button started the silver disk inside whirling.

She had picked a flute and clarinet melody to dance to, as it seemed wind instruments would better appease the Spirits she was dancing for today. Crysta stretched her leg's to either side of her just a few times first. She was pretty warmed up from the walk to the cemetery she supposed. As the first dulcet notes drifted from the small speakers, Crysta closed her eyes, to better shut out the mortal world around her, and focused on the Spirits world. She knew she could feel it around her. In the depths of her heart she was positive she could feel the flow of the Spirits, moving about on their assigned tasks. Bringing Order and ensuring that all things flowed the way they were supposed to. Crysta launched into a slow ballet dance with her hands lifting above her head and a somber expression of focus on her face.

Takuma nonchalantly walked along a row of tomb stones. He carried a fresh bouquet of assorted flowers with him. It was held carefully to prevent them from getting squished or stressed. This was an outing he made frequently but it had little meaning to him. To Takuma the trip was yet another chore to eat away at his day.

When he heard the sound of music Takuma stopped. Normally this place was quiet when the random grievers were away. It was abnormal and piqued Takuma's curiosity. He wandered towards the enchanting sound but was clearly in no hurry. When he was finally close enough to see what was causing teh noise he was surprised. It was a dancing girl that looked as if she was in a trance. Was it a ghost?

....Wait, he recognized the girl. It was someone he was not overly familiar with. What in the world was she doing? Takuma was content watching the free show and pondering. It was much more interesting than continuing with chores.

The entirety of her dance was really only a few minutes long. But those few minutes... Crysta truly believed she could feel the stirring of the spirits around her. Their eyes were on her. Watching her movements, but more importantly sensing the meaning behind her dance. She recognized them. She honored them. She loved them. They were a part of this world, they deserved more recognition then what they received. She did not dance for anyone else but them right now, and when she was done, she felt a calm fall over her. The little speakers fell silent and Crysta relaxed her body from it's final pose. Despite the work out, she felt a pleasant chill that she attributed to the energies of the spirits around her. They had received her energy, they had accepted her offering, and they were pleased. It was good to give to these spirits honor who had not received it in so long.

"In peace and love. I honor and acknowledge you. Spirits who carry on the will of the world. May I find favor in your eyes." She spoke her small prayer aloud, as a dismissal of the spirits who had come to see her. Opening her eyes, Crysta found herself..well...a bit shocked to see that she was not quiet as alone as she had thought she was. "Oh...Hi!" Her startled state gave way to her over abundance of cheeriness.

Before he had the chance to ask what she was doing it became clear due to her concluding prayer. Was it for someone specific or a vague all of them? She is trying to gain the spirit's favor... Could there be something behind that?

Takuma slowly waved with his free hand. "Hey there." He could not help but meddle. Seeing someone here was a curious sight. "Do you dance like that here often? I don't think I've seen you here before."

Crysta reached her hands up to tighten her pony tail while Takuma greeted her in such a shy way. Her blue eyes sparkled faintly as she felt a sense of amusement over the fact that more then the spirits had seen her dance today.

"Often? No. I try not to do my dances in the same place twice." She replied happily enough. Dropping her hands down, she moved to collect her CD player and speakers. "I don't want the Spirits to get bored by repeated acts. And there are so many of them, I try to go to as many different places that I can so I can dance for as many as possible."

He fussed with the flowers while listening to the girl talk. It appears he had accidentally smooshed a few while watching the performance. Takuma was apprehensive about getting them to their destination. The sooner they were in their place the sooner he could get back to doing nothing (a popular teenager past time).

"That seems rather nice of you. The spirits must appreciate an offering such as this." He casually scanned the surrounding area. It was an amazing day but there was barely any one else there. It seemed like a shame. "Spirits are rarely appreciated nowadays."

After tucking her things into the pack, Crysta shouldered it and tightened the straps before looking back to Takuma. Her eyes brightened a bit more. "I am glad you think so. It's really not often I meet someone who is open minded." Her eyes dimmed slightly, though she continued to smile. "In the older ages, Spirits were acknowledged by so many people. They had servants or mediums. Or just people who listened and talked to them. Now though there is hardly anyone who is appreciative of what they do. It is so sad. People are always too caught up in the world they can see and touch. They forget there is so much more beyond it."

Crysta looked down at the flowers that Takuma was carrying and she crossed over to get a better look at them. "Those are really pretty. You are bringing them to someone here?"

Takuma shrugged responding in a somber tone. "I agree, people tend to only focus on the tangible things. There are plenty of things that exist that we are not always actively aware of or do not fully understand." It seemed like a strange conversation to be having with someone he barely knew.

When Crysta came up and investigated the flowers Takuma was again reminded of the reason he had come here today."Thank you... These are for someone here." He answered sheepishly. "Would you like to come with me? I promise it won't take long." This place was a decent distance from where Takuma lived. He was hopeful the girl might want to do something afterwards. It was always annoying to go across town to get only one thing done. Based on what he had just seen and when he had met her in the woods the girl seemed like fun.

Crysta was rather pleased when Takuma spoke to her so plainly, without such judging and...well...he didn't call her crazy in the least. It seemed like there were more people here that were more accepting of her then anywhere else. When he invited her to come along with him, she nodded her head up and down quickly. "Eh-heh hee! Oh I'd love to." She spoke, then shouldered her bag more firmly on her shoulders. She bounced on her toes eagerly. "I am glad I came out here today to meet you, I do remember you but your name kind of escapes me." Crysta smiled in embarrassment. "I'm terrible with names."

He chuckled at how requesting an introduction seemed to embarrass Crysta. It didn't seem like that offensive of a thing to forget. "I am Takuma Nobuyuki." Takuma gives a quick bob of a bow. "Despite being pretty good with names myself I'm uncertain if we had exchanged names earlier. Could I get yours too?"

"Where I'm going is farther into the Western part of the cemetery. It is an older grave so it's a ways over there." The older teen waited until introductions were over before beginning to walk towards his destination. The last thing Takuma wanted was to turn around and find himself alone again.

Crysta's smile did not seem to dim even for a moment. It reached all the way up to her eyes, even as she rocked back on her heels. Her butterfly earring swung against her neck as she bobbed her head. "It is a pleasure to know you Takuma Nobuyuki. My name is Crysta De'Monico." She introduced herself then turned towards the west.

With a small skip, she started to wander in the direction Takuma had indicated was his destination. Her eyes moved from grave to grave in passing."Aren't the grave stones so interesting? They older they get, the bigger they seem to be. Or the more decorated. I wonder when it became the normal thing in society to put up such plain, cold, and impersonal headstones over people we have known or loved?" She rambled on for a moment, as the topic of introductions could not be carried on any further then names.

Takuma matches Crysta's pace to the best of his ability as he followed her. When she spoke of the headstones he began skimming them as they walked. He had been here frequently enough that everything along this path seemed familiar. It was always interesting to see how much they varied. However the more generic small ones were all very dull and duplicates of the same handful of designs.

"Even a plain and simple headstone is expensive. The cost might have something to do with it." His pace slowed as he was trying to think of reasons why the newer stones were lacking in detail. "Once they are in the ground not many people visit. I always thought it was weird for some to have an additional message written on them. The writing that isn't their names and times they were alive. Do you think anyone ever comes up with those on their own before they die? It seems like the sort of thing only their remaining family and friends would add."

Crysta stopped for a moment to inspect a headstone that was weathered black and chipped. "Perhaps." Crysta considered as she looked at the stone intently. "A lot of folks are concerned with money, but...I can't imagin so many people being this strapped for cash." Crysta dropped down to one knee and reached out to gently brush her fingers over the stone.

"It's not so weird. It let's people who walk by that this was a important person in someones life. It let's us know they were a good person. That they had a family, or if they were alone. We can guess if they had a full life, or if it was tragic because of how short it was. Did they love someone? Were they loved in turn? A Headstone is not always the last words someone has to say about you, but the last words you have to say about yourself." Crysta grinned brightly as she looked up at Takuma. "I don't know, maybe it is a group thing. A request you can make, or something that people can reflect on what they remember most about you. When I die, I want my Headstone to say 'I'm dancing in the sky.' So people will know what it was I loved to do the most. Haven't you ever thought about what you'd like yours to say?"
PostPosted: Fri Aug 13, 2010 7:30 pm

"Ah, you misunderstood. I meant that the headstones that lack the message are the abnormality." Takuma bowed while trying to offer an apology. This did not come up frequently but he was painfully aware that his English was not always accurate. "My English is good but it is not always the best." He approached the headstone Crysta was looking at and inspected it."The captions are all a stranger has to understand the impact the deceased had during their life. They are important"

As Takuma glanced back at Crysta he could not help but return the smile when she did. "That is a cute caption. It seems like something that is very fitting for you." This girl seemed really energetic and her cheeriness felt contagious. He also had a growing appreciation for her as he listened to how much she respected the dead. Takuma shrugged in response to her question. It was a subject he had not put much thought into. It did not help that he was the sort of person that didn't waste his time fretting over his own mortality. "It isn't something I have particularly thought of. If I had a choice in the matter one of my parents or perhaps grandma could write it. They would probably come up with something nice."

"ooooo" Crysta hummed as Takuma would correct her. Not that she was ashamed or upset over the error. Sometimes things like that happened after all. Life had to be filled with mistakes! Otherwise how would you know when you were doing something right? "That is okay. My comprehension is good, but it's not always the best either." She replied with a bright and cheery grin. her hand lifted up and she tapped a finger to her temple. "Sometimes I'm so distracted by trying to pay attention to the spirits that I sort of forget I'm still in the mortal realm. Hee hee!"

Crysta dropped her blue eyes to the stones as they passed. A particularly proud smile on her face as Takuma would admire her choice of epitaphs. "Family are often so distraught when a loved one dies. Sometimes it's nice to leave them a gentle reminder of what you would like them to focus on after you have passed." Crysta noted after a moment. "It serves for the marking of your grave, as well as gives them something to hold on to during the grieving. It is nice though that you have such faith in your family, but isn't it a little silly to expect those older then you to still be around when you pass?"
