Why do people persist to say “What if you go to Japan and hate it?”
A. Give me one reason why I would.
B. I have spent a solid 10/11months studying the language, watching the films, the tv shows, the music, keeping up with political events, bought over 500GBP worth of KAT-TUN merchandise, how can I suddenly go and hate it?
C. Why, do you want to make me feel bad and second think this choice of mine?!

Anyone else have this problem?

Maybe it's because some people can and will be very racist, much like every where else in the world. But some people just kinda tune it out where they live and then they hear things against their race going on it diffrent countries assume "Hey they were mean to that guy I don't know the whole story but i'm going to go ahead and say everyone there hates us and its a horrible place to live" o-o Wait...did that answer it? A pop tart distracted me...

I'm going to kinda elaborate on what Sai said.

I've heard various stories of Gaijin who live in Japan experiencing some not so friendly reactions from natural citizens. I've heard that the police will stop you for no reason at all, simply because you're foreign. And, some businesses will (and can) refuse you service for being foreign.

If you're just visiting, I can't see why someone would try to get you to back out of it, but deciding to live there, sure.

Its going to be the same as anywhere in the world. You can't be sure what its going to be like, unless you go. No matter how much you pay attention to the culture, news, what have you.

And, yes, I've heard stories of people moving to Japan and loving it, but many will tell you it definately wasn't what they expected.

So, if I were you... If you're wanting to live there permanately, I'd say arrange a stay for a month or so and see how you like it, before you make a definate decision of living there.

Thank you guys XD

And dont worry I am planning to go for between 2 weeks and one whole month when I get enough money so I shall be able to desifer then whether it is for me or not XD

But it just annoys me when my friends are putting me down "Id laugh if you went and hated it" and its like "Youre my friends you should be supporting me!"

Agreed.

I was watching that Jessica Simpson show about how they embrace beauty in different countries, and there was one on Japan. I wanted to vomit watching it.

She and her friends were so rude the whole time. The point of her doing this was to embrace the cultures of the countries she visits, and all she did was mock it. I wanted to punch her in the snatch.
