The moon rises,
bringing the dreamless rest;
an undaunting and torturous test,
bearing with it the strange demises.
I hear my pulse start drumming,
my heart strings deep and thrumming.
But I see the cymbals crashing,
distant, feral, flashing.
I walk into the ice,
chapping, numbing my skin.
I wander, blue, frostbitten
and taste the crystals, enticed.
Eyeing the swooping lights,
while jumping off new heights.
I feel the moonlight's gone,
before the coming dawn.
The new day is turning;
I lick the sunshine's rain.
I sample scorching pain,
choking on the smell of burning.
Acid fills my lungs,
and tears that stain and stung
shatter shrillingly on the floor,
ringing into my core.
Dusk returns heavily,
the darkness rising steadily.
And the air fills with eternal screams
of nightmares never dreamed.
