Cael had somehow managed to wander for weeks without behind caught by anyone. He had no problem finding food, though for a while there he had been sick. He was dirty, and very much needed a bath. The fun had long since gone out of his adventure. He was lonely, and depressed. He was sitting half-hidden by some leaves, sobbing softly and sucking on his fingers. He wanted his family. Or anyone. He had seen people, but they had always been too far away. When he had cried, people had sometimes come, but had never managed to find him.

Jude had been mostly fending for herself, not entirely of the mindset of the Naga within the main city who would have likely killed people like her adoptive father and not entirely all that too eager to gather many mixed race companions.
Though, lately she had to admit that a kind of deep loneliness had been worming its way into what she could only figure was her soul. Her father wasn't much for company, Mubrook was feral and hardly sentient at best and even though he possessed all the mechanical means to speak and reason he clearly did not. It was instinct that caused him to hatch her and raise her and now that she was grown he went back to his old habits. These days Jude was the one who checked in on him from time to time, but he neither missed her nor knew what to with her when she was near. It was time she was out on her own... perhaps to seek a mate.
Other Naga as open-minded as she were few and far between. For some reason, she couldn't figure out why some hissed their sentences and some did not. She knew she didn't and never felt inclined to. Jude figured it must have been a social thing. A "social thing" was what Jude was craving, but part of her seemed hesitant to try.
She sighed as she picked through the bushes for stray berries or even a big, healthy rabbit. Jude hadn't chased down a fresh hare in ages.

Cael almost missed the naga because of her colors, but when what he thought was a tree moved, his eyes grew wide as saucers. He didn't have enough smarts to stay quiet, or think about who he tried to approach. He pushed himself to his feet, bottom first, then stumbled towards Jude, whimpering and tearing up. "Aah!" He couldn't take being on his own anymore, and even a walking tree was better than no one.
He was happy to see that she didn't really seem to be moving away, but searching for something. Maybe for him! His Mama had sent a tree lady to find him. As he grew closer, he was alarmed to see that she WASN'T a tree, but instead resembled those nasty little things that would hiss at him and try to bite his hooves. He froze, but failed to realize he was now out in the open, and staying still wouldn't protect him from hoove bitings.

Jude was used to her father doing that same thing to her, but mostly to play and steal what she was eating. She hadn't expected anyone much smaller to approach her from nowhere. She jumped back and looked down, holding her hands above her chest as though he was part snake and she wasn't.
"Good grace, you startled me," she sighed in relief. "I suppose you're looking for food, too?"
Jude couldn't help herself. Perhaps it was because she spent most of her childhood keeping her father clean and as free from filth as well as she could, but she started inspecting the toddler's face and body.
"You're in sore need of a bar of soap and warm water, little fellow," she laughed, letting her hands come down. "Where'd all your other legs go?"
Apparently, she wasn't aware anyone came in either no legs or four. She'd never seen two legged races before other than a human or two.

Cael nodded eagerly at the mention of food, putting both of his hands on his chubby little belly and looking at her sadly. He moved until he was only a foot away from her, head tilting back to look up at her face. His legs? He blinked, and looked down at them, lifting one hoof and tilting his head. "Legs?" He looked up again, looking confused. Then he pointed to her sleek, long body in a quick, questioning manner, before spreading his fingers and pressing his hand against the scales. "No fur?" he asked, pulling his hand away and frowning up at her, his little tail flicking. His mind had wandered from food quickly, as he found her legless, hairless body much more fascinating.

"No fur," she shook her head at him. "But don't worry, clothes can keep me warm. What manner of creature you are doesn't matter."
Jude didn't quite know how to talk to a child, so she just spoke to him as one would speak to any other person. This person only happened to be in miniature. She watched his little hands press up against her skin and tilted her head at him. There was something endearing about the little creature. Perhaps it was the expression on his face or the way he expressed his opinions.
"Here," she held out her hand and offered it. "Let's go find food together. You look like the type who'd like cooked fish and I do know of a pond around here. Do you like fish?"

Cael made an eager noise, licking his lips. He did indeed love fish! He loved it battered and crunchy, with all kinds of yummy sauces and salad! He took her hand and stayed close to her side. It was obvious by his body language that he was much happier and a lot less frightened. "Little tomatoes?" he asked, beaming up at her, a little skip in his step as he hopped carefully over the slightest of raised roots. His hooves were so tiny that it didn't take much to make the little satyr stumble.
