[This is a first post. Eventually some sort of banner might crawl up here to make things pretty... but for the time's being it's all just very very empty...]
[Welcome, again, to Hana-chan's quest & preparation thread. Because some people are crazy just like that.]

Full name: Hanabusa, Masamune Nickname: Hana-chan (though he might seriously attempt murder if someone were to call him that. Masamune clearly thinks that the kanji for 'flower' shouldn't have been in his last name and wants nothing to do with it. There's nothing better to tease him with, so enjoy it while it lasts...) Reason for Nickname: 'Hana-chan' was born through Masamune's early years at the academy. The nickname was invented by none another by the most annoying -according to him- classmate ever to be born, constant bother, complete useless burden -yet somehow always partnered with him- Also Known As... Sakamoto Yukie. Ever since she saw his name written she became overthrilled by the fact that "Hana-chan got a flower in his name". Much to Masamune's dismay the nickname stuck... and more people used it afterwards...
Age: he's rather... vague about it, when confronted he might simply ask you back about the weather... Eye Color: golden amber Eye Shape: somewhat almond shaped Glasses or contacts?: reading glasses, mostly, since he claims them to be a big fuss in the battlefield. He's actually far-sighted instead of your everyday case of near-sightedness, making anything in a distance closer than 70-60cm become blurry and out of focus when he's not wearing his eyeglasses. Hair color: A deep shade of carmine red Hair length and style: Most of his hair is caught up in a tight ponytail at the base of his neck, the shorter part of his hair at the top usually left to do its own thing which tends to end up a mess. When he finally snaps at its state and tries to do something about it he fails miserably, while when he doesn't it somehow ends up getting messed up again for one reason or the other. Hair curse? Face shape: oval-shaped, with a slightly pointed chin and nose. Skin tone: rather pale since he takes good care of it. Masamune does not want his skin to tan. Ever. Reasons unknown... Distinguishing features: His reading glasses mostly, and, if you get to see them, his sealing bracelets on his wrists and ankles.
Health Condition: Masamune is a sturdy one, hardly ever getting sick the way normal people do. However, he is plagued by a 'disease' which isn't really one but he has to take treatment for it all the same. To elaborate, his problem is the massive force of his Reiki which -if left uncontrollable- could easily kill him in a matter of seconds. The massive force is, in fact, created because his body somehow rapidly burns out its resources and produces Reiki in paces far beyond the ordinary, so in a sense, much like cancer, it's his body destroying itself. It started as a nuisance early on, but as his Reiki levels kept rising and he started becoming a threat to others close to him and later himself, he had to be brought to the attention of DEUS that constructed a set of limiters to be placed on his body to restrict the flow of Reiki as possible. His sealing bracelets lock and unlock on command, so in times of desperate need he can remove them in order to access the full force of his Reiki. Doing so is still pretty reckless and he has been warned that it might even cost him his life since that's what happens after all Reiki is consumed anyway.
Overall Constitution: Over average, actually. Masamune trains on a daily basis from five to eight o'clock in the morning, to achieve the best results possible. He also likes running around the city to improve his overall performance. You can't say he slacks off no matter what you do...
Home District: Seiaku Current Residence: Hakuryuu, Upper Level. Masmune owns a beautiful small traditional home in one of the less populated areas. He loves waking up and litenning to nothing but the sound of the trees and birds chirping outside of his window. Soulborn or not?: No, even if he was he'd be disowned, most likely (If Soulborn) Social Status & family: none available Occupation: Division 3 Captain candidate Faction: Soul Army
Talents/Skills: Cooking at it's most extreme variation too. The food Masamune makes is the stuff dreams are made of, said to be so incredibly good that gods would fight over it and mortals would die happy after tasting it just once. It's extreme reputation has led many to wish to try it though the 'challengers' to appear have been close to none since they fear the 'divine' taste. Most that appeared where turned down by Masamune anyway. He doesn't like doing things for others. No matter what people do and say he seems to have no trouble consuming insane amounts of his home cooking in equally insane speeds.
One may also claim that his ability to eat food -both the immense amount he can consume as well as the incredible speed in which he does so- can be considered a rather rare talent. The first can easily be explained due to his body's incredible pace of Reiki construction -it is created then released in vast amounts 24/7- so food would normally be needed to sustain the cycle -otherwise he'd probably just die out-. Then comes the speed which nobody has been able to explain yet and probably won't be able to so anytime soon either. The only stuff that escape his insane pace are sweets which he likes to preserve the longest possible.
Learning. And I know you probably just thought a flat out "What." A cranky person of action like Masamune... spending more than five minutes on a book? Why, yes. And not just five minutes. Masamune's report sheet from the Academy was always straight A's. A coincidence? No. And it certainly wasn't because he bullied his teachers to get that grade -even though he could...-. Studious to a point of obnoxiousness and a perfectionist to add to that, he used to cause a lot of envy when he was in the Academy. Of course almost nobody dared to ever bug him about it. His ability to memorize things is still remarkable, up to this day.
Relationship skills: ....uhhh... what relationship skills? Masamune isn't listening to a word you're saying right now. When God was raining common sense and tender feelings he had his umbrella open. ...maybe.
Habits: Getting in people's way when they want to accomplish something just for the sake of doing it -alternatively bug they living daylights out of them to explain to him exactly what they are doing and why- Biting his lower lip when he's trying not to snap at something. Acting before thinking (even though thinking while acting is more like him.) Eating things whenever he's troubled or angry -prefferably sweet things. Cleaning the house often. Hobbies: Fishing. Who doesn't like fishing? (honestly now...? >> ) Having lived for a long time in Seiaku that is largely covered by the lake spanning the distance between there and Ryokugen he came to find a profound joy in doing just that. Rumoured to be unbeatable in fishing competitions.
Cooking is also one of his hobbies, though 'baking' is most like it. He likes to bake sweets, he simply downright loves it. And if you're too nice he might make you something. But only if you're nice.
He also is rather... adept when it comes to cards. Though he's mostly infamous rather than famous for that skill of his.
Virtues: studious, determined, fiercely loyal when he decides to be, also surprisingly good with housework. He actually has a good sense of humour and might be less of a jerk-a** once you get to know him a little better, affable even. Always looks out for the people he cares for, even placing his life on the line without a second thought for them.
Flaws: hot-blooded, mean, snarky and vengeful to a point of obsession. God help you if his revenge is about you stealing/eating his sweets by mistake. Often assumes the worst scenario available.
Overall Personality: The first impression you get when you run across Masamune is that this guy is so obviously 'the villain' in any variation of his story that you can possibly think of... however it isn't actually the case. Good does not go hand-in-hand with nice... well, sometimes, yes, but not always. Not being nice does not rule out being good and wanting to do the right thing. And well... to say the truth... Masamune isn't really that bad if you get to know him... even though you need severe willpower to stand him enough in order to, that is. If only you manage to get a little closer you might find out you really like it there.
Personality key question: How would your character spend a rainy day?: Okay, it starts out like this. Masamune wakes up, blinks at the window, bitches at the weather, gets up in a sour mood and heads for the bathroom. Wash, then breakfast, then a few gallons of coffee while cleaning the house and making sure everything is in order. A break around midday to prepare launch, then back to cleaning until its ready. Actual lunchtime. After that he'd probably indulge himself in some book, play a few games of solitaire, drink sake, slack off, prepare dinner, eat dinner and sleep. Yes, nothing strange or out of the ordinary, why are you acting so surprised?
How do they dress?: Masamune will wear anything as long as it's comfortable. He usually just wears nothing but lightweight yukata and traditional wooden geta when at home to provide himself with more freedom of movement -this has led people to say that 'Masamune goes around in his sleepwear when not at work'. During the coldest months he can often be spotted wearing a hanten both indoors and outdoors. When he's out to run he prefers to switch from the yukata to a haori and knee-length trousers to spare himself the need of being more careful with what he wears. While on his own, taking walks or visiting people he can also be spotted in modern clothing -though he's inseparable from his geta either way-. At work he wears the traditional hakama with a long-sleeved shirt instead of a kimono and a haori to conceal the lack of it.
Favorite Sayings: "Seriously now. Do you have a deathwish?" "Are you going to eat that?" "I'll ******** kill you."
Vernacular: He's pretty direct when he speaks, however his words are just as often ironically coated with an otherworldly respect and politeness that almost comes off as sickeningly fake. He has a slight accent when he speaks, probably a remnant of his past life.
Overall Style (Elegant, shabby etc.): Masamune looks rather... intellectual, especially when he's got his glasses on and/or when he's alone. He'll surprise you with his fighting abilities if you allow yourself for even a moment to consider that he's your everyday bookworm that won't stand a chance against your clearly superior fighting abilities. Come again? That guy got out of the Academy with straight A's in every class. This means fighting classes as well. So yeah.
If he's in a group of people he comes off as a rather... villainous figure, certainly not the good guy, antagonizing the ones perceived as generally 'good'. He is furthermore able to constantly snap at everyone for any reason at anytime which adds to his 'scary person' appeal.

Abilities: Even though its common knowledge by now -and after his turbulent path of constant moving between Divisions ever since he joined the Soul Army- that Masamune is better suited for organizing battle tactics, and is also far more helpful that way, he is a proud and skilled warrior and will not take a break from the battlefield if he can. He believes in the spirit of the warrior and feels the need to answer that call. His eyesight problem often troubles him in close combat, however he can usually take his enemies down before they get too close thus becoming a problem.
Signature Technique: Burst Overdrive, or simply Burst, if you will. Blessed with suck as he is, aggressive Reiki production and all, Masamune has a vast amount of Reiki he can produce at once, resulting in extremely powered up techniques when he decides to loose the limiters and have at it. The time he can actually use his Reiki like that generally lasts from five seconds to -current record- two minutes and forty three seconds. It should be noted that after that one time he reached his current record he spent a good two weeks in a near death comatose state, stabilized by the medics' Reiki so he wouldn't die. Releasing his limiters, even for the shortest amount of time possible, causes his soul to hurt. He actually claims it hurts so bad you wouldn't even wish it to the worst of your enemies. As for practical details; releasing his limiters causes the 'Burst' to occur, which instantly creates a wall of concentrated Reiki around him which he can choose to sustain -practically 'feeding' it with produced Reiki, thus creating a shield that can repel about anything- or allow it to normally discharge, damaging anyone close enough at that point. Another choice is to 'burn it' on the spot, causing even faster consumption but at the same time creating a destructive flame-like aura that is close to lethal for anyone who doesn't have strong enough Reiki to counter at least part of it. Otherwise he can simply use his Burst to power up normal techniques. Furthermore there is no known way of Cloaking his Reiki while in Burst Mode.

Reigen name: ARCLIGHT (Arukuraito): 歩雷登 ( あるくライと = [aruku] pace/rapidity + [rai] thunder + [to] to ascend ) Container: his sword, as cliche and outdated that is...
Reigen false-form: a large, two-handed blade without guards. It's made further distinguishable by the dual-colored surface and ruby 'eye' at its bottom part. The edge of the blade can become displaced -pulling back like a cap- to reveal the weapon's true potential. Stored within the exterior blade are five bladed windmills that can be thrown into orbit by swinging the sword around -one at a time-. After the windmill completes its rotation it returns like a boomerang if it doesn't hit somewhere. It is this function that allows Masamune to take down enemies from afar so he won't have to fight them from too close. Release: Nagareboshi ni naru, Arukuraito! 流れ星になる、歩雷登! (become a shooting star, Arclight!) Reigen false-form ability: Besides releasing those handy windmills, Arclight has one more hidden power. It's charged with electricity -which is actually concentrated Reiki settled on a layer directly over the blade-. Both the windmills and the blade itself carry these properties. Clashing Arclight against something -or someone- causes electricity to discharge and shock those that come in contact with it.
Reigen true name: CHRONA ARCLIGHT (Kurona Arukuraito): 黒名歩雷登 ( くろなあるくライと = [kuro] black + [na] great + [aruku] pace/rapidity + [rai] thunder + [to] to ascend ) Reigen true-form: Arclight doesn't change all that much in function and appearance at level two. It becomes slightly larger, with a wider upper part and edgier lower part and gains three rods that together resemble a wing in shape. Its 'ruby eye' becomes blue and it assumes a more cold-based color scheme altogether. Its windmills still come out in the exact same way they used to, however it can now store one more in addition. Release: Ten o kantsuu suru, Kurona Arukuraito! 天を貫通する、黒名歩雷登! (pierce the heavens, Chrona Arclight!) Reigen true-form ability: The significant difference in this stage is that not only do the windmills radiate blue lightning when shot but also that electrical charges are discharged in the atmosphere by every swing of Chrona Arclight too. This is the foundation of a series of powerful offensive maneuvers that are based on directing that lightning at things, launching grand-scale attacks that can deal massive damage at once wherever they hit.

Division Number: 3 Reason for Choice: After the late Captain's mysterious disappearance, Masamune's mentor from the academy brought his name up in the Captains' council. He was almost unanimously accepted on the spot by them, and it was left to him whether or not he'd decide to eventually assume that position. Previous Service: Ah... let's see... Masamune had quite the backstory in the Soul Army, moving from one Division to the next in a matter of months, never settling anywhere because he never thought he could fit in. He started out in Division eleven, found it dull and boring, filed an application and got almost immediately accepted into Division nine a couple of months later. He stayed in Division nine for some time, rose to the fourth seat, but at this point decided this wasn't were he was meant to be, asked around and got recommended to join Division four because of his Reiki levels. After becoming accepted in Division four he trained with them for a short amount of time before saying he didn't like it there either and that using his Reiki in such a way strained him. After that he spent a short amount of time doing nothing but odd-jobs for a while, not applying to another Division having partially lost his hope of finding a place to belong among people that defended the city. So far nothing felt right to him. At this point he accidentally got caught in a battle when oni attacked and he happened to be in that area and almost died by releasing his limiters to achieve his current record in order to protect the citizens in the area. After his almost miraculous recovery two weeks later he received an invitation to join Division One which he immediately turned down saying he was done with that -which also made him quite infamous, for what person in their right mind turns down such an invitation?
Almost a year later he received a recommendation for becoming Division three's captain after the later Captain's disappearance from the face of the earth, his mentor from the academy being the one who brought his name up to the other Captains mentioning that "While Hana-chan was and still is a great warrior, both as a student and as a soldier, I can't see why nobody noticed that he was always this much better suited to the role of a tactician." Aspirations: Giving one last shot to this whole affair, was what he said when asked why he agreed to it after having so bluntly turned down the request from Division One. Masamune is determined to try his best for the sake of the Shomonkai and his Division once again and he aspires to change the view people have for Division three; to prove that they are not worthless cowards that hide behind other soldiers, but strong fighters that are equally adept at using their weapons and spells as well as their minds to be able to protect everyone without causing unnecessary fighting and casualties.

And now... it is time to learn some hard random facts
-Hana-chan's name is spelled; Hanabusa: 花房 ( はなぶさ = [hana] flower + [busa (fusa ふさ) ] a cluster ) and Masamune: 正旨 ( まさむね [masa] just/truthful + [mune] intention/reason/purpose )
-his favourite treat is anything that contains chocolate and/or cinnamon
-he's never seen without his geta. Even in mid-winter.
-he may or may not be a better person than the first impression he makes.
-he actually thinks paperwork is excessively tiresome
...more might eventually appear here...

Burn, with an inside flame.
Ffft, first of all. I wrote these comments, and they don't even display how much I LIKE Hanachan, and how funny your choice of names for him is! The following is mostly a critique just, and it's after I struggled, reading and re-reading, to find anything at all that could maybe be elaborated upon. I really like how he has to eat a lot to sustain himself, and that he likes cinnamon and chocolate, and makes sweets last. It's pretty funny to picture him fishing. He definitely does come across as someone to be envied.
Well, without further ado, the harsher comments D: <3 OTL
I'd be afraid of his bracelets getting taken off xD; <3 Yay power limiters though, heee. >D So... I did wonder, though! Can things BLOCK his burst? Because if not, that seems like an instant-win if he's willing to take them off.
One thing is, he doesn't seem to have any weaknesses or NOT-talents. Is everything he touches gold? I mean, apart from people skills! But he's apparently unbeatable in book-smarts, cooking and fishing, as well as extremely fast, and good at housework xD Kind of cute talents. It would probably make him a little more 3D if he had at least one thing in his flaws which was tangible, i.e. he is bad at _____ but doesn't let anyone know, or something. Just a thought. I mean, if he's really good at everything, then that's a trait, I suppose! I just wished for something relatable, I think xD;
I'm not sure I understand the Arclight windmill being thrown into orbit one at a time and returning? To me, a windmill would be the full set of five blades at once, and I can see it going TOGETHER with one swing, but I can't see five... separate blades being a windmill? Maybe it's just my inability to read, though.
I do think his personality, and the talents he has, are very nicely fleshed out. I did have a question about his "sense of humour"; he doesn't REALLY seem like he has one, and I can't picture him laughing at a joke; is he sarcastic? It might help to know his "style" of humour. I know a couple bosses of mine made jokes with straight faces, and I know I sometimes say weird things just to see people's reactions, but I don't know what kind of humour he'd have, or if it'd manifest as a straight-up love of jokes, puns, etc...
There's also the matter of being a tactician; Hanachan seems very unwilling to stay hands-off, and in his Captain application, it doesn't actually SAY why he's "better as a tactician". It's also not in his skills or anything; all his abilities appear to be geared towards close combat. I'd maybe like to see some more about why he's a good tactician, since he clearly doesn't seem to PREFER standing back and planning. I like that bit about why he wants to be in Division 3, to prove they're not cowards, but why WOULD he turn down a position in Division 1, really? It says because he's "done with that" but if he wants to be in Division 3 to prove they're not cowards... I just wonder if there's something else to it, maybe.
