In most situations it has to deal with lyrics and instruments. If the song uses a variety of different instruments to meet lyrics based on Norse Mythology or Fantasy themes then its got my vote. <3

If it can give me tears in my eyes, chills, make me say 'oh my!', gasp or something like that, then it's a good song. I'm a fan of symphony orchestras; in classical music (duh!), metal or rock. Good symphonies, good use of modulation, crescendos.. I seem to have a liking for music that primary lays in minor.. I love sad music. Plus: a good choir never hurts... never.

My favorite songs are ones that I can relate to or ones that remind me of old friends I haven't seen in a while.

First off, I listen to just about every kind of Music there is.
In Order to make my Play-list, there are certain things that have to come to my attention. 1) Good Music: Nice rhythm or beat, even soft and flowy instrumental Music 2) The Singing can't be Horrible, and it helps to be able to Hear and Understand what they are saying. 3) Lyrics: The song has to have a meaning that I can relate to, or understand. Sometimes the song defines another person and I understand them more. 4) Not too much Swearing. Personally, I don't care for swearing at all, but no one's perfect.
That's it. ^^
