Nasuymi grimaced. She had been asked to gather up all the little ones' clothing that needed mending and take it down to the Weaver's room. Which meant she had to leave her creche. Not that she had never been out of the place, in fact her family had their own rooms in the Weyr but she preferred to be with her little ones who lead less complicated lives. Her round face soften a little bit as she hastened her step to get back to her wards.
It was a weyr, it wasn't like she could stay in seclusion forever. The basket was tiring her arms and she only hoped that whomever was there would be so kind as to relieve her of her burden. It was probably some apprentice boy or some auntie or uncle. And then, she would have to endure questions and comments about her appearance. More than once, her mother had moaned that she needed longer hair, to stand straighter and blah blah....
Quickly, she gave the door a shove since she could not knock.

Fortunately (or unfortunately) for the woman who just pushed open the door there would be no one inside the room. . . because they were outside and just walking up to get things done. Ofelia wasn't a Candidate and therefore wasn't required in the least to do Candidate chores, but that didn't mean she was above needing to wash her clothing. The heavy smell of her occupation seemed to be soaked into some of her leather outfits like a bad hug, therefore making her smell somewhat similar, but thankfully after coming to the Weyr (where it was so hot, Faranth above) she'd switched to cloth clothing.
"Are you needin' some kinda help or somethin'?"
The woman only had a few things in her hands and a Green firelizard on her shoulders, so it was obvious she was more than capable of helping if needed.

"Aye yeah. Macellen told me to bring the little ones' clothing down so the mending could be done. Not sure exactly who he wanted me to be a'taking this too so if I may leave the basket on the table, I'd like to be getting back." Short and to the point. Nasuymi did not mince words with folks her own age or older. If they couldn't understand the point, then perhaps they needed to be redirected to something more simple.
This girl had a green flit on her shoulders. Nice. Nasuymi almost wished she had Camm with her but her own flit was keeping the younger ones occupied while she was gone.

"Hand over somethin' and I'll gladly give ya a hand. It's a waste for me ta be standin' here if I can help ya."
Ofelia held her hands out to the woman to take something from her, not wanting to dawdle. The flitter on her shoulder move into the air and popped out between, so as not to get in the way, and Ofie was thankful that Puck had such understanding.
"I'm used ta washin' clothin' and the like, so I'll lend more than enough hands. I hate chores as it is."

Not quite shoving the basket at the brass girl, Nasuymi rubbed her arms with the relief of no longer having dead weight trying to pull them off. The girl looked strong enough and her green knew better to get in the way of things. "There ya go. 'preciate the help. Don't come down this way too often and not sure who Macellen wanted these to go to for the mending. Me, I can wash clothes so they don't stink no more. As for chores, I work with the little ones an' every day with 'em is a chore. Name's Nasuymi. In case someone is a'askin who brought this down."
The girl looked like she was a hard worker. Which was good. Nasuymi couldn't stand those who weren't able to hold their own weight when it came to the Weyr. It seemed like most her age were lazy and only interested in chasing skirts or tails.

It took much of Ofelia's dexterity not to drop the basket as it was shoved at her, the look on her face more of surprise than upset to have the load that suddenly thrust into her possession. She'd asked for it though so there wasn't a reason to get upset or anything which thankfully.. . .she did not. Doing laundry was the least of the worst things she could do at the Weyr, at least that's what she'd hear from all the others her age and younger running around. Some of them told horror stories that took her hard times to believe.
"M'name's Ofelia, but most jus' call me Ofie. Yer welcome ta call me whatever ya want, I'll answer ta anythin' so long as yer not tryin' ta slander me or somethin'."
Ofelia shifted the load onto one arm and held her hand out, unaware that what she was doing might have been considered impressive considering the sheer bulk of it all. The linens weighed far less than soiled leathers or jugs of brine or urine which probably explained while Ofelia was slinging it around like she had nothing better to do or didn't feel the weight at all.
"I've never been aroun' kids other than the ones who come in an try ta be tanners an' all, so I guess I can't relate ta ya on that. Dunno about how much I've done the wash either, most of what we work with stays stained."

Nasuymi nodded. This girl seemed to be a hard worker for sure. She certainly handled the basket of soiled clothes with no problem. As for the girl's name, she thought it just fine and dandy and said so. "A name's a name. Yers is just fine."
She had a few moments to chat and the girl had said nothing rude or stupid. Yet. Girls were better than boys at holding their tongues. Leaning against the door jam, she kept her face neutral. "Ah. Well kids' sumthin else. They drive you crazy but kin be teh sweetest. At least teh young'ens. Teh older they get..." And with that, she shook her head. "I'm glad ter are sum folk wif sense. Ot'er wise things would be a mess."

"Ya could probably keep all I know about kids in one hand if ya had ta match it all up an' keep track. I'd rather let the foster folk take care of 'em, since I'd like end up killin' a kid without even tryin' ta, sad as it sounds."
Ofelia was really, really bad with kids. As she'd said before she generally left them alone, but sometimes when she did have to care for them it only meant trouble - mostly for the kids, not here. Apparently Ofelia was a health hazard in the fact she was good at causing injury to others from her own neglect.
"Is there somethin' else I can help ya wit'?"
