Description: Located in an open-roof stadium is the ring where the first round fights will be taking place. The sound of wild cheering from the many fans that have congregated here fill the arena in a loud uproar as cameras zoom in on the action to broadcast the fights all over the world. The floor of the arena is a glossy hard floor with the logo of GTB painted in purple and pink upon the white sheen.

Field Measurements: The fighting area is a perfect circle with a 50 yard diameter. The walls that keep the fighters away from the spectators are raised up to ten feet.

Ten Count Boundary: The ten count begins whenever the fighter is knocked out of the bounds of the fighting area, such as into the spectator seats. The flying count out is also in effect, which means, if you stay above ground by your own will for more than ten seconds, you will be DQ'd.

Fight Ends: After 11:59 PM on Jun 16th. That means when it becomes Jun 17th, fights are over.

Pre-post warning: I have not written in ******** forever, so I am rusty as s**t.

Krausse poked his head out into the arena from his fighter's exit, checking to see if his opponent was there. His deep, unnervingly violet eyes wandered around the arena for a second, seeing a rather interesting crowd of all manners of life-form - tall humans, short humans, dragons pretending to be humans, talking cats, Zerglings, and a Jew or two - gathered to watch him poke at his opponent with a rather sharp blade and hopefully not puncture any important organs. The people hosting the tournament had a thing about not killing your opponent for some reason and considering Krausse's main weapon, it made him tempted to introduce himself as an exceptionally well-dressed and cynical Himura Kenshin type.

"Not there," Krausse muttered under his breath. Maybe his gorgeous red beard was so intimidating in its perfection that it scared the guy away? It had happened before. See: Battle of Waterloo.

Its my time to shine, Krausse thought. He poked a hand into his handmade Italian suit jacket and began feeling around the belt loops inside. Dagger, check. Rod, check. ********!" Krausse's brow furrowed. No flashy entrance today, although that's not necessarily a bad thing. No one ever looks back on the guy who simply walked out into the arena like a hardass and thought, "What a f*****t." No, people remember the guy with the rainbow feathers and smoke bombs and fire works and think "I hope that guy gets his d**k chopped off."

So Krausse gripped his rather plain-looking sheathed katana a bit tighter in his right hand and walked out into arena with his game face on. The crowd went into a furious uproar of cheers and insults all at once as he went out, but did he hear anyone question his badass level? You ******** bet he didn't.

Inside the tunnel Leonard had just about finished stretching when he heard the crowd announcing the arrival of his opponent, there was no putting off the fight anymore so Leonard checked his equipment one last time before heading out.

Strapped to his left arm was an imposing wooden shield with metal plating reinforcing the edge, it was one meter long and half a meter wide with magical runes carved on the inside of each plank of wood. The length of the shield hid most of the shaft of a pair of wooden javelins that measured in at 1.7 meters, and had steel leaf-shaped tips glistening at the top. Leonard held them in his left hand with both tips facing forward. The shield and javelins were relatively new however clear signs of battle were already visible on them.

Leonard’s right forearm was protected by a leather vambrace of simple design with a metal sheet covering the outside to offer increased protection, and on his right hand he held a third javelin, identical to the ones in his left hand, though this one was held backwards with the steel tip pointing away from Leonard.

Content with the state of his equipment Leonard walked out into the arena bathed in sun, in the tunnel Leonard had heard the crowd both taunt and praise his opponent, however his reception was much worse. Upon catching sight of the complete unknown and unimposing man the audience immediately began booing and insulting him.

A short fat man in particular yelled louder than the rest “What are you doin’ here, what’s with the Leather brigandine, can’t you get real armor, or are you going to run around in the ring until your opponent gets tired? And what about that leather pouch on your waist, is it filled with pixie dust so you can fly away every time you get sacred you blue pants and green shirt wearing pansy” The man whose voice was already hoarse from before continued bellowing until he could barely talk, the d**k had probably been yelling at the participants of the previous fights as well.
Leonard however paid little attention to the man, to fight he needed to keep his concentration so he had learned to shut out insignificant annoyances such as that.

Keeping his eyes on the red bearded man Leonard made his way into the ring and stopped a step or two after clearing the barriers that separated the fighters and the public. Leonard decided to give the first move to his opponent as he took a simple stance, his left foot about a half step in front of his right and both his arms hanging to his sides.

Krausse arched his brow at his opponent. Really? he thought. He's rather ill-equipped for a duel.

Knowing he wouldn't need it, Krausse slipped his sheathed katana into the sheath loop around his fine, handmade, dark leather belt. It fit snugly, with the handle poking from between the lapels of his unbuttoned suit jacket, which he carefully removed, leaving him in his eggplant purple dress shirt and obsidian vest and tie, neither of which were armored at all. Krausse wasn't a fan of armor unless he was in a gunfight, since any armor had weight and weight slowed you down; he was more agile than he was a tank. He produced a six inch long steel straight, double edge dagger from the suit jacket before he laid it down next to him.

Krausse turned back to his opponent and turned the blade in his left hand while walking about a foot to the left of his opponent. It was an extremely fine blade and looked so sharp that it was obvious that it would cut through flesh like a hot chainsaw through butter - and it was shiny... so very, very shiny. Shiny enough that, when Krausse angled the blade between the sun and his opponent, the sun flashed off of the blade, bright enough to temporarily blind his opponent. Maybe for not more than a second or two, but that was all Krausse needed - he took off at a sprint immediately.

The problem with being six feet tall is long legs, and long legs make for a slow start to a very, very fast sprint - nowhere near Krausse's max speed, but think Olympic sprinter, because that 50 yards between him and his opponent would be covered in less than five seconds. Although it would be covered at an angle, because Krausse came in from the shield side of his opponent - which would force him to lift up what would be assumed to be a very large, heavy shield and move his entire body around to bring the nearly two meter long lance around to face Krausse. It was a move that could not be done too quickly, otherwise it would throw his opponent off balance, too. Don't come equipped to a mano-y-mano duel to fight a horseback knight, kids.

Leonard actually expected his foe to start the fight from the middle of the ring, so the fact that the guy was 50 yards away actually placed him slightly out of his range, but luckily Leonard had a plan.
As his bearded foe removed his jacket Leonard set the javelin in his hand as the focus of his magical abilities, an action which will be henceforth referred to as setting an anchor, and waited for his opponent to make his move.

Leonard watched as the man vastly underestimated him and drew from his vest what looked like a small dagger before moving to the left. The audience might not have approved of Leonard’s weaponry but the way his opponent had stepped into the ring wearing nothing but cloth was like an open invitation for a chest full of javelin and Leonard would be happy to comply.

Moving a foot to the left at that distance was so insignificant that Leonard didn’t even bother to turn his body, only following the man with his gaze, it was probably a mistake since in the following moments the man managed to blind Leonard.
Leo’s carelessness had been so great he reacted on instinct to the blinding light, closing his eyes and recoiling slightly before he realized he had just wasted a second, but he knew the man had been practically in front of him, and blinding him had no doubt been a ruse to buy Krausse the time he needed to run up to Leonard.

Without even regaining his sight Leonard began moving, he raised the javelin on his right hand up to his head, the tip now facing Krausse’s general direction, he took a large step forward with his right leg, as he did his whole torso bent forward, twisting slightly as it did, and Leonard extended his right arm throwing the javelin towards where he thought his opponent might be as hard as he could. Just after he let go of his throwing weapon Leonard regained enough of his sight to realize the weapon would miss his opponent by about a foot.

Luckily for Leonard this was not an unpredicted event, he knew full well that throwing a weapon while blinded would likely result in missing, unfortunately for his opponent that didn’t hinder Leonard’s attack, in fact it probably helped. Leonard hopped his foe saw the javelin, realized it would miss and kept running.

If Krausse kept running him and the javelin would cross about 30 yards away from Leonard and as soon as they did a Yellow glow would erupt from the back of Leo’s left hand signaling the use of his ability, a copy of Leonard’s javelin would manifest out of thin air appearing side by side with it and moving with the same speed as the original, only it wasn’t pointing and flying away from krausse. The copy was reversed, it pointed to the back of Krausse's torso and flew towards it too.

Once the javelin was thrown, it was out of Krausse's mind; he knew that it would miss from the fact that it was pointed a foot away from him. He only really cared that Leonard completely exposed his body fully by taking the step forward and spread his legs apart, as well as moved his shield away from his body. As far as Krausse was concerned, this guy was done for; though he didn't see the javelin make a copy of itself behind him.

As the javelin rushed towards Krausse's back, he found himself about two meters away from Leonard - close enough that, if the man was quick enough, he could pull one of those extra javelins out and make a stab at Krausse. It was unlikely, since the man was still in an uncomfortable position from throwing his javelin and casting his spell. But even if Leonard tried, Krausse wouldn't be skewered, because Krausse dropped down and powerslid the last two meters until he was between Leonard's legs and reached out with his dagger and, as he went under Leonard, flipped the blade around in his hand so that it was reversed... and drew the weapon across the back of Leonard's left thigh in a deep, powerful slash that would cut through the leather armor, Leonard's flesh, and his hamstring muscle, leaving him completely unable to use one of his legs - unless he dodged the move.

Better yet, the javelin intended to impale Krausse would now impale Leonard, as the man had to move his shield away from his body in order to step forward without the half-meter surface blocking his leg. Although Krausse didn't see the javelin copy until he turned around while hamstringing Leonard.

As his foe came closer to him it became clear to Leonard that his magical attack would fail in its intended purpose, sure the javelin would hit, but by that time the enemy would be too close for it to make a difference, so even before krausse began power sliding Leonard dispelled the copy in hopes of keeping his ability secret for a bit longer, the copy vanished along with the glow on the back of Leonard’s hand.

Krausse was right, with his shield weighing him down and his legs spread so far Leonard wasn’t in the best position to move, so as the man powerslid towards him Leonard was faced with a conundrum, he could attempt to dodge and minimize the damage taken, or he could attack which would have a risk of failing and even success didn’t guarantee his enemy would stop.
Though he latter wasn’t very characteristic of Leonard he still decided to go with it, all that free patient care the tournament offered probably made him a bit more carefree than usual.

It didn’t take Leonard more than a moment to make his decision, and luckily for him his shield didn’t have runes on it just to look pretty, the runes significantly reduced the weight of the shield allowing to Leonard to move his left arm much faster than would be expected.

Krausse of course had no idea the runes even existed so it might have surprised him how fast Leonard was able to raise his shield up to his chest and turn to face krausses powerslide, the two javelins which he held in his left hand and whose steel leaf-shaped tips always cleared the shield’s edge completely, even when aligned with the length, were pointing down at the ground immediately in front of Leonard.
Leonard’s grip on the javelins tightened, and he timed his move perfectly. At the right moment Leonard thrust down with the spears on his left hand to stab his foe right in the stomach, the move was even aided by the weight of the shield which increased the speed of the descent and the stabbing power.

If Leonard was lucky the javelin’s steely tips would meet his foe’s stomach, stopping krausse’s powerslide as he was about halfway past Leonard and possibly preventing him from attacking, if not Leonard was probably boned.

One of the beautiful things about Krausse's cybernetically enhanced brain was that it allowed him to think impossibly fast. His body could react far faster than a regular human's, but only to the stress limit of a human body before it simply broke down. However, these limits did not matter for his thought processes - and by the time Krausse saw the shield move in his direction, he knew what Leonard's plan was and no normal person would be able to react in time, but Krausse was designed for fast reactions.

Simultaneously, Krausse's arms moved in near-blurs of motion. The left arm swung back with the dagger in forward grip, and then he swung it back around hard and chucked the dagger straight. In most cases, throwing a dagger was useless - the blade had to be specially weighted and thrown in just the right way so that it landed with enough impact to make a meaty cha-thunk! into human flesh, but that wasn't Kraussse's intention with his throw; instead, he just chucked the weight of the all-steel knife at Leonard's face at around thirty miles per hour - more than enough to fracture a human skull and cause disorientation.

While the knife was chucked by Krausse's left arm, he dropped his right hand down to his sheathed katana. People like Krausse don't carry a weapon as cliche as a katana around for the hell of it; they knew how to use it. Krausse was a master of several Japanese sword fighting styles, and one of them was battoujutsu - a lightning fast quickdraw style. However, Krausse did not have enough time to pop the blade out of the sheathe with his thumb, so he jerked the entire sheathed weapon out of its belt loop and swept hard and fast at the sides of the javelins, just below their metal tips. The blade and sheathe would make hard contact with the wooden shaft of the lance and put immense pressure on the wood, amplified by the counterpressure caused by the javelins being smashed hard against the powerful shield. One of two things would happen: either Leonard's arm wouldn't be strong enough, and his shield and the javelins would be smacked out of the way and the thrust would go far to the left of Krausse... or he would be strong enough to hold his shield against the equivalent of Arnold Schwarzneggar smacking his shield with a steel louisville slugger, and the wooden javelins would snap.

Dayum, Krausse was one fast guy, it was at times like this that Leonard missed his bow, with it there was no need to spread you legs to shoot, no shield weighing you down, no crappy range limit, still there was no changing his registration form now. Of course all this heartache was only present in his subconscious, Leonard’s arcane abilities required focus, so it was rare for him to lose it in the middle of battle.

Leonard could tell what was coming from the moment his opponent pulled his arm back to throw the knife, but knowing what was to come didn’t do him any good as he had already began his thrust and it was clear that there was no time to pull his shield back up, so Leonard reached for the javelins with his right hand as he did the obvious thing, squatting.

Open legs were not good for squatting but that didn’t mean it was impossible, it just risked blowing Leonard’s knee’s and hips if he tried to put his a** lower than his knee’s. Now there was a lot of momentum involved by this point, and Leonard knew that he wouldn’t be able to stop himself using only his legs, so he did what any man would do, he relied on his weapon.

As he dropped Leonard tightened his grip and applied as much strength as he could to the javelins with both his arms so that once they hit the ground, or indeed his foe’s stomach, they served as a cane to stop his descent. Even with his effort to squat Leonard still received a grazing blow from the dagger which, though not enough to disorientate him, would still draw blood and ensure Leonard would fight the rest of the match with a huge headache, something that would disrupt his concentration before he got used to it.

When it came to the sword swing his opponent was not lucky, because of the added strength of both arms holding the javelins, the momentum of the body dropping, and the fact that the shield kept the javelins from spinning Leonard would be able to withstand the blow and keep the javelins in place.

As sword connected with javelin Leonard felt the power behind the swing and he knew that normal wood was no match for Krausse’s attack, fortunately Leonard knew what he was getting himself into when he joined a tournament full of super strength fighters wielding metallic weapons, and he had asked Daedraug the friendly mage to inscribe runes on the shafts of his weapons, these magical inscriptions were hidden by the steel tips and their purpose was to strengthen the wood of Leonard’s javelins until they were on par with metal implements. The wood would not break though krausse’s feat of strength managed to move the javelins to the right a bit, but not enough to clear his gut.
PostPosted: Wed Jun 09, 2010 6:57 pm

At the point that Leonard had squatted, Krausse's powerslide was still continuing. At that point, Krausse's deflection idea hadn't worked exactly like he wanted it to, but it didn't matter, because Krausse's opponent pulled the dumbest move in the book - he put all of his weight into his thrust when his opponent was beneath him with a free hand. Because of the metallic nature of the wood of the javelin, Krausse's blow was deflected - but so was the javelin, even though it wasn't necessarily away from him.

At the point the javelins were deflected, Krausse was halfway under Leonard, with his waist underneath his opponent's crotch and the javelins aimed towards his gut. So Krausse moved his left hand, still outstretched from throwing the dagger, and grabbed both lances behind their metal tips. His opponent had put all of his weight and strength into the thrust of the javelins so that he would squat without blowing out his knees, so Krausse ruined the precarious balance of his opponent by jerking the javelins hard along the angle they were deflected from his sword blow... and then just held on, using his 350 pound weight and the continuing momentum of his powerslide to completely ruin his opponent's balance.

Leonard would fall, in this exchange he had done the best he could to come out on top but his opponent it seemed was just better than him, Leonard didn’t expect his foe to quite this strong and the result was a catastrophic loss of balance. The final nail in the coffin of Leonard’s fall was krausses outstretched arm, which the man had used to push the javelins to the side, as his opponent kept sliding the arm would eventually hit Leonard’s leg, tripping and sending him face first into the floor.

Though Leonard was unable to use his hands to break the fall, as they were held up on the shield and javelins, he did try to use his abilities to do so. Normally by the time Leonard hit the ground he would have already been able to set his brigandine as an anchor and used his ability. Unfortunately the headache caused by the previous dagger strike messed with Leonard’s concentration, so by the time he fell on his arm causing an unhealthy amount of pain he had only set the anchor.

It could have been much worse if Leonard hadn’t been as close to the ground, he might have broken his arm or dislocated his shoulder, but there wasn’t much time to think about it, Leonard still wanted to get himself back up and his ability would help. A purple glow erupted from the back of his left hand as his Brigandine suddenly became inversely affected by the earth’s gravitational pull, actually being repelled from the earth’s crust with a strength of 3G.

Leonard knew the weight of his brigandine so he knew the reversed gravity would not be enough to actually lift him off the face of the earth, it would however make it so that getting back up could be accomplished much faster. Leonard would turn around so his back was to the floor, while bringing his right arm back to his right side with one of the reserve javelins on his right hand, and push off with his hands, he really didn’t need to do much more since the brigandine would aid his efforts of getting up basically acting as a helping hand.

Once he was back up Leonard would cancel his ability causing the brigandine to return to its normal weight and the glow to vanish from his hand, at that time he would be facing his enemy which hopefully wouldn’t be too close.

About a foot away from the fallen Leonard, Krausse pushed himself off of the ground and pivoted around on his heel. His extremely long power slide had ended with him bringing his opponent down, but he could not take any real advantage of over his fallen opponent for both Krausse and Leonard stood up at the exact same moment to face each other (although Krausse was puzzled at how Leonard could get up so easily with a half meter wide, meter long shield disabling the use of one of his hands for pushing himself up). However, there was an extremely real advantage from his now standing enemy - Krausse was a foot and a half away, well within the reach of Leonard's nearly two meter long javelin - and not well within the range of any of Krausse's weapons. Leonard was also disoriented from his fall and headache, and needed a moment to recover; Krausse did not.

Without a doubt, Leonard was at an extreme disadvantage, and Krausse began taking advantage of it before Leonard could even begin processing how ******** he was. Almost immediately after standing up, Krausse slid his right leg back and left leg forward and dropped his katana down to his right side, since it was in his right hand - a battojutsu quick-draw stance. His thumb popped the sword out of its sheathe and, in alll likelihood before Leonard could even move his shield, drew his blade in a silent motion so fast that its upward diagonal slash wouldn't even be able to be seen by most people. If it landed, all that would be an indication of it even having moved would be the blade pointed in the air, the blue sheen of the masterfully forged steel made into a blinding beacon by the sun's glow, and the spray of blood from the cut arteries and vessels going from Leonard's waist to his shoulderblade. The wound, if received, would not be fatal unless Leonard forsook medical care and/or did not staunch the bleeding within a few minutes; it was just meant to be damaging.

Leonard wasn’t disoriented, that’s not to say the headache didn’t affect him, it slowed down his casting speed, and even after this long Leonard still couldn’t perform the more complex enhancements. As his enemy lowered his stance for his strike Leonard knew what was coming, granted he didn’t really know anything about sword fighting but what else is a swordsman going to do in close range, throw his stuff at the enemy?

Leonard set his shield as a anchor and planned to place a copy of it between the two fighters, but the headache slowed him down and his foe got the best of him, the copy would actually have materialized midway through Krausse’s slash, if it wasn’t against the rules of Leonard’s ability, and the slash hadn’t broken Leonard’s focus, he just didn’t expect the guy to be so damn fast.

At first Leonard didn’t feel anything, remaining with his lock on the sword, but then he looked down, his brigandine had been cleanly cut, his shirt too, and lastly his skin, a deep gash ran across his chest, and Leonard’s blood flowed through the wound staining his clothes, as he slowly became aware of how screwed he was he also became aware of the increasing pain in his chest.

Leonard’s breath became increasingly shallow as he stumbled towards the close by barriers, trying to move his torso as little as to avoid aggravating the pain and the severity of the wound. By the time he sat down he knew the fight would be won by his opponent, but that didn’t mean he was done. Leaning against the wall Leonard calmed himself and nutted up, the wound need to be closed and with that in mind he began working.

Leonard assumed that to cauterize wounds you basically needed to burn the area with something hot enough to, at least, boil blood. Without any specialized implements and limited time, as Leonard didn’t really expect his enemy or the judges to just let take his sweet time, Leonard had to improvise, the only things he had that could be used where his javelins and his shield, since metal part in the javelins also happened to cut Leonard went with the shield.

Leonard moved the shirt and armor out of the way before, a yellow glow erupted from the back of Leonard’s left hand and a copy of his shield with half the normal size materialized on his lap, unfortunately though smaller the copy had the same weight as the original causing an increase in pain levels as Leonard picked it up by the sides to avoid touching the metal parts. As the copy appeared out of nowhere Leonard felt himself becoming attuned with the shield which would allow him to set it as an anchor much faster in the future, at least he had that working in his favor.

Next was the heat, for that Leonard would shift the focus of the enhancement to just the metal plating covering the edges of the shield, and, as the right side of Leonard’s neck began emitting a red glow much like the yellow one on his left hand, the metal plating’s temperature immediately rose to 150º C, now came the really annoying part.

Luckily for Leonard keeping his ability activated once it had been used didn’t require any though, because in the seconds that followed, as Leonard pushed heated Metal against skin, he really had no thought to spare. It’s no shame to admit he yelled, heck he yelled louder than the crowd, louder than the guy that wanted to get speared after Krausse was done, the pain was excruciating, especially to a ranged fighter that isn’t particularly used to getting hurt, and the smell, that unnatural smell of burnt human flesh would probably keep him away from BBQ’s for a long time.

If Krausse gave him the time Leonard would somehow make it through all that and come out the other side healed and awake, though he himself would not know how he remain conscious through the torment.
