VS.
Description: Located in an open-roof stadium is the ring where the first round fights will be taking place. The sound of wild cheering from the many fans that have congregated here fill the arena in a loud uproar as cameras zoom in on the action to broadcast the fights all over the world. The floor of the arena is a glossy hard floor with the logo of GTB painted in purple and pink upon the white sheen. Field Measurements: The fighting area is a perfect circle with a 50 yard diameter. The walls that keep the fighters away from the spectators are raised up to ten feet. Ten Count Boundary: The ten count begins whenever the fighter is knocked out of the bounds of the fighting area, such as into the spectator seats. The flying count out is also in effect, which means, if you stay above ground by your own will for more than ten seconds, you will be DQ'd. Fight Ends: After 11:59 PM on Jun 16th. That means when it becomes Jun 17th, fights are over.

See crowd.
See crowd want a spectacular display of brutality and bloodlust.
See crowd notice that one of the fighters is two feet tall.
See crowd "boo" at the top of their lungs.
To be fair, most of them tolerated the fairy, and some even cheered at the combatant who had made it surprisingly far in the last GTB. However, as Esouna walked into the battlefield with her head down, her expectations went fulfilled. Stupid groundbound giants and their customs...why did this place have to be so huge? The height was nice, but what good was that when she could only fly for ten seconds at a time? Esouna growled, a non-threatening vocalization from what might as well have been a young child, for its pitch.
The fairy imagined herself taking off to the sun...crashing back down on the field, wowing the audience and cracking the floor. Letting loose a battle cry...striking fear into the heart of her opponent. Tearing him up with only her brute strength.
Unfortunately, restrictions on the match and her own power prevented that, and hey, the opponent probably wasn't a pushover anyway. The tiny woman looked up to the crowd...angry faces, wanting more of a fight than could be given by a little creature like this. To spite them all, she simply sat down, only a few yards in front of her gate. She crossed her arms over her chest, and scowled. Reporters would make headlines like "Fierce Fairy has a Fit" or some other crap like that. But really? ******** them. She was here to fight someone, beat five kinds of crap out of them (with someone else keeping count) and then leave to go swim in the pool or whatever.
Damn bleacher-tards.

The moment was here. The moment where the men would be separated from the boys. The moment where history could be made. The moment where.....THIS FIGHT WOULD BEING!!!
Seth made his way to the entrance of the gate finally glade to be out of that damn tux and back into his normal clothing. However, in the back of his mind he thought about the time that he had spent with Jurie there. It was both nice and weird at the same time. Shaking it off though, he knew there wasn't time to think about that. It was time to fight. Entering through the gate, the light hit his eyes and made him squint a little bit, as the sounds of cheering roared up and filled the arena. Knowing his performance in last years GTB, he knew this cheering wasn't so much for him as it was for the fact that the fight was about to start.
Walking across the arena and heading for the middle of it, Seth noticed his opponent across the way. It wasn't hard to see that his opponent was, well small. She/He/It looked really small. Having been carrying his six foot long staff in his left hand, he kind of let the back end fall and tap against the floor. Due to it being aluminum in design, it would make a small noise on the hard flooring. At first glance this would be the only visible weapon on the man. That didn't mean there were hints at other stuff. Like always, he had his fans with him. One was in its holster on the right side of his belt, and the other was in its holster on his left arm above the elbow. The holster's themselves looked kind of like clip holsters for guns, but there were no guns allowed in this tournament. This might give away that they were a real weapon. His last weapon was tucked away in a small pouch that was on his belt, right side, but more toward the back.
Reaching the middle of the arena, Seth stopped there looking out at his opponent. If his opponent moved closer, she/he/it would see the man towering over she/he/it, since Seth stood at a nice 5'11". Shifting his weight a little bit, he brought the staff up, placing one end of it onto the floor, and placed some of his weight on the staff to lean on it. He gave a shot out. "The name's Seth Rowan. Lets get this party started. I have someone I have to meet here." He was referring to Jurie. She was the main reason for coming back here after all. He waited for any signs of movement but was still as alert as he could be with the way he was standing.

Aha, there's the opponent--Seth Rowan, he introduced himself. Esouna cast a lazy glance at the man, quickly scanning for threats. A staff, and what looked like guns. Unaware of the ban on these weapons, she assumed that she'd have to deal with bullets. Thus, she sprung to her feet, ready to move. Unlike the opponent, Esouna had no weapons...really, she didn't have any material assistance.
The fairy didn't feel like making the first move, so instead of bolting across the field, she merely began a lazy walk towards him. After all, he'd be using those guns, wouldn't he? She could spend energy then, but not now.

Seeing his little opponent start to move, the motion's would be sluggish at best. It didn't really seem like this fight was getting off to a good start. Either way, Seth pushed his weight off the staff and grabbed it with both hands. Cracking his neck for a second, he nodded.
Pushing off the floor, he took off in run. It wasn't anything super amazing or fast, but it would start to close the gap between the two fighters. Seth held the staff kind of two the left but in front of him some. This would seem silly because the staff would cut into the air and cause Seth to not run as fast. That was his plan though. As the staff dragged through the air, a wind would be created as it was dragged along. Unseen to anyone who couldn't detect magical powers, the wind would be collecting at the tip of staff that was more behind Seth. When he was about 15 feet away from his opponent, Seth slid to a stop, pulling the back end of the staff up in a forward motion, he would use this to collect just a little more air.
This motion would kind of look like a baseball pitcher was throwing a ball, but no real ball would be seen that well. What Seth was doing was collecting a ball of wind on the end of the staff using his powers, and then was launching it forward. The ball would be only slightly bigger then a baseball, but it wasn't compressed very well. This made it still hard to see the ball but it wouldn't be more then a little punch to the creature. The best it would do is make his opponent stumble a little bit. The ball was aimed for the face.

The invisibility of wind made it a good tool for those who knew how to use it, and even better if you could magically manipulate it. Unfortunately for Seth, Esouna could easily detect paranormal energy, so the ball wouldn't escape her notice. So, this person could do magic with air? That posed a problem, but not a big one, since it seemed he was limited to that staff.
In response to the ball, Esouna leaned forward and kicked off for her first bout of flight in the tournament. Since she was only two feet tall, and her opponent was about six, the air ball's path sloped down. The fairy didn't think about the physics of it or anything, but experience told her to bolt forward and stay low to the ground. In short, this put her under the path of the ball, so it wouldn't hit her in the damn face.
Her speed in flight let her close the distance between the fighters in half a second, and she aimed for the opponent's abdomen. If no reactions or counters happened to provoke some other reaction--the fairy's awareness searched for that--she would extend one arm. An outstretched fist, plus momentum, equaled a solid punch to the gut.

Seth watched as his little opponent took to the air. He thought he remember something about flying, but that wasn't the time for things like that. Having not really let go of the staff or anything from his attack. The weapon would still be both hands, but it would still be hard to block such a small fist with his weapon. However, this is where the surprise would come in.
With a quick shift of his hands and a few hands movements ((pressing a button on the back side of each end and twisting slightly)), a low click would echo through the air around them. As Esouna came in for the attack, Seth pulling the on the two ends of the staff and pushed back slightly. The pushing back gave him a little bit more time to react. Figuring that Esouna, like most smart opponents would correct for he distance, Seth made his final move.
The staff had become a three section staff, contented with a metal chain hidden inside. Since Seth couldn't really block the punch, he folded the two ends in front of where he thought the fairy would be flying in. With such short arms, she would have to get really close to punch him. If Seth got the right area and the fairy didn't dodge, she would hopefully be getting two aluminum poles in her face. If Seth was wrong, or his opponent had good enough correction time, or he was just to slow, he would be taking a punch in the gut.

Typically, fighters have an excellent reaction time. For Esouna, this was very much true. Secondly, a species that flies knows to react, and fast, when they're about to hit a wall or tree. Two aluminum poles in front of you? Close enough.
Instinctively, she veered a bit to her left, putting her out of the way of the poles. Also instinctively, she pulled back her fist, which shouldn't have been done...but, hey, another idea. Esouna pulled her legs up, basically leaning back in the air to where she would hit with her feet, and not one fist. This motion barely completed, due to the short distance. Seth would have almost zero time to do anything, more or less ensuring a hit just below his right ribs.
And another detail...the chain. Just a split second after impact, assuming the attack worked, she lashed out with one hand to grip the swinging metal links, giving her a hold on the weapon...and from there, she would fly back to her gate at top speed.
Now, she had recently sprained or broken something in the system of cartilage and fast-twitch muscles that made up her flight wings, so "top speed" only reached ~45 mph. Still, with the sudden yank, Seth should lost his grip on at least on of pole's ends.

There was little that Seth to could to avoid the double kick that was coming his way. With the sudden change in motion though, the blow wouldn't be as powerful as Esouna might have hoped for. However, that doesn't mean it wasn't effective. Anything outside of a poke to the gut, caused a reaction. This reaction was him bending over a little bit. Having a little bit of air knocked out of him, he needed a split second to recover. By this time, the little fairy would be flying off with a chain of his equipment.
Shhhiiiittt! was the only thought that really was able to pass through his mind, as he realized what was happening. Just before, the weapon went fully taught, Seth let go of the end that Esouna was holding on in terms of the chain. This would cause a free end to now be flopping through the air putting the little fairy at risk. Being jerked forward, Seth held onto his weapon, grabbing the other end with his free hand, having two hands now on the staff. Trying to pull back, he would look at countering the force of the little opponent. Depending on how much Esouna weighed, Seth hoped to counteract the force of her pulling.

Impact! If that worked, certainly her next move would--uh-oh. Esouna dropped altitude to avoid the flying end of the weapon, but regardless, it nicked the end of her rapidly-buzzing right wing, making a sound sort of like a weed-whacker hitting an unfortunate plant for an instant. Obviously, this hurt. Bearing it as any good fighter would, Esouna dropped to the ground, ignoring the stinging sensation. Her wings halted, and the countdown for disqualification reset.
About here was where the tug-of-war began. Whatever her strength, the fairy couldn't out-pull this man, as she quickly discovered by her feet slipping. Still, she pulled, despite the man dragging her.
For a while there, the crowd would cheer for what looked like Seth reeling in his opponent, as Esouna contorted her expression to concentration...
KPNNNNG
That concentration wasn't directed at winning the tug-of-war. Rather, she fact that she was a very strong fairy, with the capacity to break bits of metal. Like, chain links. Unless Seth instantly realized what very, very tense fingers meant...his weapon would snap into two parts. Well, three. The broken link would fly off somewhere, propelled far enough for someone in the bleachers to get a unique souvenir.

KPNNNNG!
Seth felt a sudden release in the tension which would make him stumble back a little bit. Swinging his arms some, he would notice that the staff was missing, well an end. What was the middle part, was now the end of the staff and swung around as Seth moved back. Looking at the little fairy he was a little pissed. After all she just destroyed part of his weapon.
Gathering himself, Seth grabbed the middle section in his free hand and shifted the middle shaft so that it reconnected into a staff again. It was a lot small staff but that was ok. He know had a four foot staff. Swinging it a couple of times through the air, he brought the weapon around so that it was parallel with his left arm and placed his left arm slightly behind him. Changing his stance so that he was facing his opponent, feet about shoulder length apart, and knees slightly bent, he brought his right hand up and did the classic, BRING IT ON hand gesture. He waiting for his opponent's next move while staying on guard.

The sudden release of pressure also made Esouna stumble back, but she set her wings into motion again and used some lift to right herself again. The fairy looked over the situation. She had a nicked wing, which hurt but wasn't a big deal...the other guy gut hit in the gut, but that wasn't a problem either...the opponent's metal rod was damaged, giving her a section as tall as she was.
Good. Keep at it. In response to the cliche hand movement, Esouna grabbed her new ministaff, holding it horizontally. Yeah, she didn't know how to wield one of these, especially when it was a bit thick for her small hands. Esouna growled--it was barely a threat, considering her high voice, but that's how she expressed herself.
To leap back into the fray, she darted forward, again airborne. The distance between the two wasn't so long this time, so the fairy had to change her stance quickly--and this change meant giving the ministaff a quarter-turn, to align it with her body, and thrust forward towards Seth's abdomen. This would have much the same effect as one of her regular punches, but with brass (aluminum?) knuckles.
Of course it wouldn't work, so from the sight through her sensory wings, Esouna paid attention to the larger staff and the guns...

Seth could only laugh in his head a little at the small growl that Esouna gave off. Getting back to the fight at hand the little fairy would be making her move. Again with the flying and again with the gut area shot. It seemed like this was maybe the highest the fairy could attack without flying to high. Seth would look at bringing this into his plans.
With the fairy bringing her attack, which was a trust with his own part of his staff, Seth went into action. Bring his front foot forward, Seth rotated his body to his right, bring the arm with the staff over. This would cause his staff to sweep across the air and make contact with the part that Esouna had. Due to her inferior grip, it would probably be easy then normal to push it to the said. At the same time as the sweep, Seth's leg followed slightly below and behind ((in terms of speed)) to connect with the fairy's side. Unless the fairy was holding the staff at the very end or dodged, about the area of his ankle would make contact. It wouldn't be a super hard kick, but given the fairies size, Seth was hoping it would either do some damage or send her falling to the ground. Coming through with the kick, Seth would land in the opposite way he was standing before, meaning his left arm with the staff was facing forward, and his left foot would be in front now.

Seth's plan worked. Sort of, anyway. He would hit Esouna's ministaff, and give her a good whack with his ankle. He even got her to let go of her ministaff. One problem, though: his swing failed to negate her momentum, and the ankle hit force her upwards.
This meant that, now, she flew into about where his sternum should be. Reflexively, she pulled upward in flight and held up her hands. This would make her hands impact Seth, but really, the instinctual point was to cushion the blow by using her arms to push back, and since she pulled up, the entire front of her body would thump on his chest, which really wouldn't hurt her.
Assuming that Esouna crashed into his chest...adrenaline helped her think fast. There, a target! Before rebound made her flop back down, she snapped out with her right arm at the man's throat. Basically, she would dig her fingers into the flesh and, with her brute strength, wrap around his adam's apple. Not the whole throat, just that one part accessible through unmuscled flesh. Unless Seth did something to prevent this, he'd be in severe pain and unable to breathe.
If he still didn't do anything, the fairy would pull.

The fairy wouldn't find the target that she was exactly looking for when she made her attack. The reason for that was the fact that she attacked right after Seth did his kick. With the way he had planned on standing his chest wouldn't be as open as she thought, but even at that, there was still the issue of Seth needing to get to that position to being with.
As he started to turn his body coming out of the kick, Seth saw the little fairy coming right at his chest. With his staff still at his front, he grabbed on with his other hand and went for a kind of shield base type move. With the little bit of time he had, it probably wouldn't do much damage, but it would hopefully get the little bug away from him. Either way, unless another change in direction was made, his throat would be safe at least for now because Esouna would need to get past his staff and arms if she didn't get knocked away.
