It was quite early for Jianyu to be awake. He gave a long yawn, covering his mouth with his hand as he twisted his neck, attempting to work out the kinks from sleep. In one hand he held a bag full of supplies for the days work, and on his back was his sheath of arrows, his bow tied to his waist, as usual. He was taking Huang-Fu to the outer lands of Lunaria in search of some more materials to make his arrows with, and also to get in a little training. They would cross through the marshlands and go through the edge of the forest before they reached their destination, so Jianyu was determined to get an early start so that they would not return so late in the evening.

The streets of Lunaria were quiet, most of its patrons still asleep as Jianyu moved silently across the dusty cobblestone road. He had never been to the home of Huang-Fu Lee, but he had directions scribbled onto a piece of parchment that Jianyu now held in his free hand. He glanced around, gauging where exactly he was, before turning left onto a smaller side street. After a few more turns, he found himself at the home of Huang, and walked up to the front door, knocking quietly.

Huang was awake and listening for any curious sounds as he laid on the pallet outside of his brothers chambers, thinking of the past few days. He had made some odd encounters not just with Jianyu, as he considered the man something to effect his life, but his battle with Kiran which he still had bruises from, but his body was healing quicker, his soul yet still tender.

He heard the soft knock on the door and imagined it would be Jianyu at the door. He rolled off his pallet and grabbed the sack he had readied the night before with supplies for the trip into the forest that the older man had suggested for training. They would be returning back to the marshlands where they met and venture further into the forest.

As he moved silently towards the front door, His mother's voice called out, in the tone that always made his blood go cold.

"Huang-Fu, Are you abandoning your brother so early in the day?" She scolded him as she came forward, even so early in the morning she was dressed regally, like the true queen of the Lee family, "Who is the caller that draws you from your duties?" Her voice was harsh, like whip along his skin and Huang bowed his head at her and opened the door to Jianyu, he met his eyes with a apology before opening it to show his mother who looked over Jianyu with a watchful eye.

"This is my master of Legion born family mother..." Huang bowed again as he presented his mother to Jianyu, "Jianyu this is the Lady of the Lee family, Chi Lee and Wife of Shen Lee who is the master of this household."

Huang waited as his mother stared at his tutor before continuing, "Jianyu has training excersises this morning in the woods, I wish to accompany him." Huang cocked his head at his mother.

Jianyu had not expected anyone but Huang to be awake at such an hour, so it was quite a surprise when the door opened and there was not one person, but two standing in the entrance hallway. Jianyu glanced over briefly at the slightly embarrassed looking Huang before turning his gaze to the woman he had already assumed to be his mother, even before he was introduced officially to her.

Chi Lee was an impressive woman. Tall and graceful, her long, dark navy locks fell around her slender face and cascaded down her back and shoulders in thick, luxurious tendrils. Her maroon eyes were darkly intelligent, but there was something else in them that Jianyu could not quite identify; something that he was not sure that he even wished to identify. There was a cold hardness about her face as she turned cool eyes in his direction. Jianyu bowed low, bending his back as he faced the floor, closing his eyes in a respectful manner.

"I am Qian Jianyu, son of Qian Liwei." he said, still bent over. "I wish for your son to attend me this morning while I carry out my training exercises in the outer woods. He has been known to be quite useful in the past, and I would very much like for him to come with me."

"Ah i have heard of the Qian family, you sent a messenger recently while you had our Huang with you, strong Legion ties and well known nobility status as well, I approve of this outing then if it is with you Qian Jianyu." Chi said so easily, she gave her son a measuring look before Jianyu and then turned to stride on her heel, "Be back at our post before night breaks Huang, and do not forget where your loyalty and duty lies." She sniffed before exiting the room and going to where ever she went.

Huang waited five minutes before moving his head up and sighed, looking at his friend and sighing again. "Good thing we caught her when she was not yet awake, for i fear she would never actually let me leave even with your family status and name." Huang tried to make light of it but he knew deep in his heart his mother was already plotting the alliances between even more Legion families and how to use them to aid his brother to rise in the ranks of the legionnaires.

"We shall depart then." Huang ushered the man out before his mother came back with a heavy does of being awake and set out on the way to the woods. "What is it we will be looking for in the woods?"

Jianyu followed Huang out the door, casting one last glance back at the Lee Household. He felt strangely unnerved by meeting Huang's mother; she did not seem like the type to particularly welcoming, nor did she seem like she was particularly mothering as it was. The coldness emanating from that beautiful face was quite unsettling, and Jianyu did not like it.

"You look...very much like your mother." Jianyu said as they walked, hitching his sheath of arrows higher up on his back. "Your complexions and your facial features...they are quite...similar.

"Though,"
Jianyu added with a small smile as he turned his head to look down at Huang. "Her personality seems to leave a bit to be desired. In that respect, she is nothing like you."

They walked on in silence for a few moments before Jianyu remembered that Huang had asked him a question.

"We are looking for supplies for arrows." he answered. "The wood from a mahogany tree tends to work best. Also, we will be doing a bit more training, seeing as how it has been several days since we have last worked together."

Huang stared at his friend in shock. Good thing he hadn't said that near his mother or his mother would've freaked and then this escapade would not go on.

"Do not let my mother hear you speak of the resemblance." Huang stared at his master, "I am no more to her than a guardian for my brother, and my brother is the only one she has any bond too." Huang said so blandly, with a look so blandly that you could feel the blandness.

"Ah then the woods would be a good place for me to look for rocks and metals, you can find anything within nature." Huang hiked his bag up higher and walked behind in silence now. It was odd to be out so early and he feared that stragglers from the sunken front would return now, keeping close to Jianyu, he made sure to watch the man's back and his surroundings.

Jianyu gave a small shrug, letting the subject of Huang's mother drop. There was something about her that made Jianyu uneasy, and it was obvious from the dejected, pale expression on his face that he did not want to talk about it anymore.

Focus on the target, Jianyu thought to himself, closing his eyes briefly. And the target is to get the supplies for what we need.

It took several hours to reach the forest. Jianyu was somewhat accustomed to long distances, and did not feel the need to stop and rest until they arrived at their destination. The sun was high overhead by the time they stepped under the shaded, tall trees, and Jianyu turned back to Huang.

"We are here." he said. "But we will need to go deeper into the forest to look for the mahogany trees, as well as a few yew trees. Keep a lookout for any trees such as those."

Stepping forward, Jianyu began to lead the way further into the forest. It was darker here, and quieter, the only sound emanating from their consistent footsteps and the small twittering of birds overhead.

"Do you..." Jianyu stopped, wondering if he should continue. Then he said "Do you get along well with your brothers, Huang?"

Huang was thankful that Jianyu said nothing more of his mother or his resemblance to her. For those words to him we're a kinda...off. He did not want to be compared to the woman nor did he want to disrespect her so. He kept himself close to his master, even as their venture led them high into the noon hour, with the forest deep behind them and deep in front of them.

"Ah..."
Huang looked around the forest and studied it. It was a little more dark and foreboding as they kept into it. His eyes peeled for not only the tree that Jianyu would need but for any supplies that might be helpful to Huang in anything.

Huang was picking up a rock and examining it when Jianyu stopped and asked him of his question. Oddly enough Huang was not surprised nor hesitant about answering him.

"I get along fine with my brothers. Xiao who is the oldest and the heir to the family, as well as the brother i guard is a exceptionally fair and reasonable man." Huang said the words with pride and a little bit of affection looking up to Jianyu, "He is the only one that i really talk to in my family though, if you consider our signing to each other talking. He is Caring and very popular with the ladies. He has a fiancee of his own choosing that is not of noble born families that he loves dearly." Huang frowned and went back to studying the rock before letting it drop to the ground. "Shaoran is the second oldest of the family, I do not know him as much as Xiao but i hear he is a very troublesome son. He likes to gamble and flirt with the women. My sister is charged to his guardian's duty, I do not know much about her besides that she is in the same duty as i am and much more experienced than I." Huang shrugged now, "I know that Xiao and Shaoran are equally good brothers though, as Xiao trust Shaoran to very personal matters. Also, Xiao is opposed to Me being his guardian and worries to much for my health." Huang paused now and went deep into thought.

"Why do you ask?" Huang stared at Jianyu again.

"I was merely curious." Jianyu said impassively, letting his shoulders rise and fall. "Your mother seemed somewhat...hesitant...about her words, so I was curious as to whether or not the rest of your family held any part in her indifference to you."

Reaching out, Jianyu brushed his fingers lightly over Huang's cheek, giving him a small smile.

"Now I see that I have nothing to worry over." he said. "A good thing. Shall we look more towards this side?"

The next few hours were spent mostly on his knees as Jianyu scavenged around the thick forest, his hands stained with dirt and scratched from the twigs he twisted and broke apart. The sun had long since disappeared behind the cluster of trees, and it was rapidly becoming darker. Sticking the last of his supplies in his bag, Jianyu stood, wiping his palms on his pant legs.

"We should get going." he said, his voice tinged with an underlying uneasiness. He did not much like the situation they were in. "I have lost track of time. Let us make our way out of the forest before we cannot see further."

Huang shifted uncomfortably, he was still not used to his master's constant touching or lack of personal space. Even though Huang confessed to Jianyu...through fever induced memory, he knew that the other man was more distracted with someone else and didn't press it. He blushed inconsistently now with the other man at even the slightest thing, even Jianyu asking about his family made him blush. His little heart filled with un explained feelings that Jianyu cared to ask of such a thing, even it was such a simple question.

"Worry over what?" Huang shook his head as he followed Jianyu through the woods, stopping to to look at wood, branches and tree's. The forest was filled with the quiet chatter of animals as they made their way deeper into the woods in search of their supplies.

Hours passed by to Huang as he looked at various rocks, placing some in his pack and exchanging that for the small nibbles of food he ate. He didn't notice the darkness settling when Jianyu stood up and gained his attention.

"Oh..." Huang stood up and looked around, the night had fully settled in now, the only light they had was the very dim light of the full moon filtering through the branches and cover of the woods, "Yes, my vision is usually good at night but with all the cover from the tree's i have nothing to see." Huang frowned as he came up to his master, "Which way are we to head?"

"Er." said Jianyu uneasily, glancing first to the left, then to the right. The darkness made it difficult to distinguish the direction they had come from, and he was not quite certain which path to take. He walked over to Huang, frowning slightly.

"I...believe we go this way." Jianyu said, but his voice was tinged with uncertainty. He gestured to the left and led the way, trying to maintain a positive, determined outlook.

"This is...not right." Jianyu said five minutes later. "I cannot see at all."

Frustration was making his voice waver. His eyebrows drew together as he turned his head from side to side, attempting to make out a sign, any sign, of where exactly they were. But the darkness was thick and the shadows long, and each silhouette looked like the other.

"This is ridiculous." Jianyu snapped. "I should be able to - "

A sudden screech had Jianyu jump, and he rapidly backtracked. One arm shot out, sliding around Huang's waist and he hauled the boy back against his chest as his other hand whipped an arrow from his sheath. Jianyu's back hit a tree and he let out a small gasp of surprise. After a few seconds, he realized, quite belatedly, that the sound had only been that of an owl. Jianyu struggled to maintain his breathing as anxiety shot through his veins.

I am all right. I will be all right.

Jianyu put his forehead between Huang's shoulder blades, taking large, deep breaths. His hand was shaking slightly.

"I am...sorry." he said. "Perhaps...perhaps you should be the one to lead."

Huang followed Jianyu anxiously, keeping close but a good distance from his master, paying attention to surroundings. It was odd how the scenery began to melt into each other, making it hard for him to define a shape from another shape. Rubbing his eyes, Huang blinked at his master. It was the first time that Jianyu seemed so uncertain of his activities.

"Then maybe we should-"
Huang jumped and then went limp as Jianyu grabbed him around the waist, hauling him close to his body. The heat of them together was almost daunting as Jianyu rested against Huang, "Jianyu, that is a owl, nothing more than a animal in search of dinner tonight." Huang tried to shift in his master's arms and begun to feel his blush raising even more.

"Alright...I will go first then."
Huang pulled forward a bit, "Are you going to....to hold on to me then?" Huang blushed looking down.

It was altogether too dark outside. Though Jianyu was used to the dark, used to the way the shadows elongated and stretched, curling black fingers around everything they touched, what he was not used to was the darkness while stranded out in the middle of an unfamiliar forest. He supposed that it was, perhaps, not the best trait of someone who was a Fighter. He was supposed to have been trained in the dark, trained to get used to the scene around him, but fighting in the dark had never sat well with Jianyu. It made his stomach flutter with anxiety, and a small shudder ran through him. He raised his head.

"I...yes, you should go first." Jianyu said, a flush rising in his cheeks. He was almost unbearably embarrassed at feeling so helpless in such a situation, but he trusted Huang enough to let his pride down. "I will - "

There was a rustle in the brush beside them. Jianyu let out a small yelp of fright, his grip tightening almost painfully around Huang's waist as his other arm encircled the boy. He staggered sideways, his feet slipping on the smooth dirt and crashed to the ground, albeit quite a bit too loudly, pulling Huang on top of him. Jianyu hugged Huang's body to his, burying his face in the boy's back until he realized just how ridiculous he was acting.

"I am...I am sorry!" he gasped out, but his arms did not seem to want to move. "I am...I do not...I do not like the dark, and my body just...it moved on it's own, and I - "

There was another rustle, and Jianyu let out a squawk, hugging Huang even tighter.

Huang tried to shift, taking his first step was difficult with the weight of Jianyu holding onto him. This was the first he had seen his master act this way and it surprised, confused and made him blush the same time. He wasn't use to Jianyu's touching still, but he did love him and said he would protect him. Huang was trying to think of how to do that when something rustled behind them, Jianyu nearly jumped him and sent them sprawling to the ground.

"Hey...Nngh." Huang opened his eye's after the fall and looked at tried to turn his head to look at Jianyu, who still holding him close.

"Are you alright Jianyu?" Huang tried to roll off his friend, they we're in such a intimate position that Huang's cheeks begin to haze over from redness.

"Jianyu-" Huang's breath cut off as he was pressed closer to Jianyu, cutting off his air supply, "Jianyu you need to relax. There is nothing but animals here in the forest..." Huang hoped that was true, "Nothing to fear in the dark but sounds..." Huang gently pried himself from Jianyu, rolling off to the side without going to far. He was becoming a mess with how the person he loved was in so much fear.

"Don't worry, I'll protect you."
Huang brushed his hand over Jianyu's face before getting up, bending his hand out to Jianyu's to get up as well. Another Owl hooted in the tree's nearby, and a wolf called out a lonely howl. Other than that the air was silent and quiet. "It feels as if there should be a lonely ghost here instead of animals." Huang said out loud.
