As quiet as the night outside, Sophie slipped out of the servants quarters in nothing, but her bloomers. The long folds of her sleeping garments were ivory, without a stitch of lace to be seen because she liked it that way; less things to choke you as you slept.
She padded curiously up the stairs, peeped out through the secret entrance in the kitchen and scurried to the fridge. "Made it." Proudly, she opened it and grabbed the treasure; left over pudding from supper.
The child wrapped her arms around the huge bowl and left the fridge open for light as she scampered to the silver ware drawer. Sophie slid the bowl onto the counter with some difficulty, then stretched up to get into the drawer. The bowl tipped, then wobbled, then CRASHED! onto the floor below. "Eeep! .....No, my pudding!"

"Mmm. Mornin'!" Kaito waved to the cold statues of gargoyles that surrounded the rooftop. Sure, most people wouldn't talk to gargoyles but they were good friends to the toddler. He liked friends who would sit and listen to him, plus they didn't talk much.
Just something about them reminded him of family. It just happened that the toddler was sitting quietly against a dog like gargoyle that he heard a crash below. Who was in that kitchen? Daddy didn't like anyone to use that part of the castle....at least Kaito thought it was kinda off limits.
He had to go investigate. Maybe it was a theif or something! With a grin Kaito slipped from the roof and peeked in through the window before slidding down to the floor. "Who are you?"

The young Mrs. was bent over with a rag, mopping up the pudding remains when she looked up and nearly died. Her eyes widened immensely and out of surprise, Sophie fell over onto her side, wincing immediatly. The shallow gash appeared on her palm before the blood came, though she didn't notice. Her eyes were locked on the strange boy.
"Sophie." She stated bluntly, as her irritation rose. "Who are you, to pop in here like that? You scared the life out of me!" She held her injured hand in the other, pressing on it to stanch the bleeding.

"Sophie." The boy frowned lightly before moving to the girl. How odd, he didn't really remember any Sophie that lived with them? Had she sneaked in or was she one of those countless secrets hidden in his own home? The toddler tilted his head before shrugging. Eh, too much worry made his head hurt.
"Me?" Kaito bent down before her, "I'm Kaito, and I'm 'lowed whereva." He reached out towards her hands, "Are you hurt?" His sapphire gold eyes sparkled in curiosity.

"Are you the Prince?" She couldn't help the curious question. Ever since she had set foot in these halls two names had been passed through the cracks. One was the unpredictable Princess and the other, her brother, Kaito. "Even if you are, you should know better. Use the door."
She held her injured hand out to him, flashing the little gash before reapplying pressure. "It's just a little cut, nothing to worry about. Can you get towel?"

"Maybe." Kaito frowned. He didn't like the way she made that sound. Was he an idiot for not using the door? Hmm. Shadows were doors to him anyways, no matter what the human thought. So yeah. That was advice he'd forget soon, he decided. "Still bet that you would've been surprized."
Kaito's stomach grumbled softly at the display of the gash. He'd just woken up after all and hadn't had anything to eat. "Why do you need a towel? Jus let me see it." His smaller hands reached out to take her's without any hesitation as he peered at the cut, "Jeez."

"Well I-....Of course I would have been." She grumbled. "Who wouldn't? You should be in bed, not skulking around." Then again, with a home like this the children were obviously going to turn out to be a little odd.
Sophie watched him warily, leaning back with her hand extended, one arm out to brace herself. "I understand thats your breakfast, but don't get any ideas. I'll hit you if you do."

"Bed?" Kaito laughed, "Bu' the sun went down! It's wake up time for me. Jeez, if ya live here you should know." His tail twitched in amusement before he reached out to grab her hand. What a girl! To say such silly things to him - it really was funny.
"I'm not that 'ungray." The toddler frowned. "It's ta help, not to eat." Thoughtfully he looked up before flashing his fangs, " Kiddin'! I've gots betta breakfast lata." Remembering what he was supposed to be doing, the toddler gave a small smile before leaning towards Sophie and raising her hand to his mouth.
Carefully and slowly Kaito licked the shallow gash on Sophie's palm. His stomach rumbled at the fresh delicacy and he had to make his body behave and pulled back quickly to fight off the urge to bite. "There." Kaito licked his lips and looked at Sophie, "All betta right?"

He spoke the truth, she should have known. She gave him a droll stare and shook her head, turning back to the problem at hand. "To help?" Sophie jumped up when he flashed his fangs, placing a hand on her heart. "Don't do that! Jeez." It was like walking on eggshells around this boy. Every few minutes there was something new to terrify her.
Her toes curled up on the cold floor as he lifted her hand, her stomach clenching. She was ready to reach out and hit him if she had too, but when he licked it she sneered. Eww, was he licking the blood? The little girl in her squirmed.
Still, when she pulled her hand back, she was astonished. Just a scratch, and even it was disappearing. "How did you do that?"

Kaito grinned wide at Sophie. She really amused him! Though he guess he should've expected the surprise. Most people always jumped at seeing his fangs. The toddler laughed before shaking his head. "Sorry."
At her question he shrugged nonchalantly. "I dun know. Lickin' always helped before, I figured it'd help you." With ease he stuck his finger in his mouth and bit hard. Wincing a little the boy held out his hand and licked it. "See?" The small hole started to quickly close up and his hand was fine.

She smoothed the fading scar down with her thumb, watching it disappear as she slowly tilted up to look at him. Sophie saw it all. Eagerly, she leaned forward to look at his finger, getting into what was surely his personal space.
The stitch witch gasped. "Thats amazing, Kaito." She smiled, snack long forgotten. Though her only light, the fridge, had closed she could still see him thanks to the lighting outside. "Who did you get that trait from?"

"Eh." The toddler shrugged at the praise, though truthfully he was proud to hear it. He liked his ability to heal things - though he had only worked with minor cuts. Not like he really thought about it much.
Kaito grinned before thoughtfully blinking, "Who?" The toddler shrugged, "I dunno. Mother or Father I 'spose." He looked around remembering something and pointed to Sophie. "So what was you doin' here?"

Sophie looked sheepishly over her shoulder. Even in the dark, the glob of crushed pudding and the shattered bowl was visible. She scrambled up, and over, taking a dish towel with her to start cleaning it again.
"I was hungry, and I still am." Frowning, she tossed the last of the goop into the trash can, along with the towel. "Are you hungry? I can make you something, if you'd like."

"Mmm." Kaito nodded as he shadowed Sophie. "Me too. Buh...what to eat?" The toddler peered curiously at the kitchen. He'd never been in one of these before. Usually the food always came to him.
Plus, he didn't think Sophie would make him the type of food that his family always had anyways. "You cook?" The toddler studied Sophie with a smile. She was handy! Maybe that was why she lived here, because she could cook and clean?

Sophie walked back to the table, grabbed a chair and pushed it up to the counters. One thing about being small again; everything was so much bigger. Even when you didn't want it to be.
"Well enough." She smiled, grasping the edge of the counter to lift herself up. With practiced ease, she rolled up the sleeves on her bloomers. "Turn on the lights and I'll make you something."
