It hadn't been long since the festival celebrating the arrival of Henya and Feawyn to the pride, and truthfully Kasida was feeling better now that it was over with. It was spectacular to see such a greeting but it was a lot for her to deal with when she wanted to stick close to her pseduo-family but out of the spotlight. But she knew now was the time to start working on being more trusting, she was in a pride now, she would be safe and she could be happy if only she would lighten up a bit. She had trusted Henya and that had worked out in her favor, it had saved her life. She could keep going.

So, determined not to continue bothering the two deities or their small companion, she was exploring a bit on her own. She was outside of the temple and heading towards the oasis. It wasn't a far trip but her limp kept her going at a slow pace, it was why she didn't pick too far to go just yet. Water was a good thing to go find anyway.

Raha was relaxing near the oasis, wanting to take a break from his litter of children. There were so many of them that he couldn't even keep track of them all. He was vastly thankful that his mate was a nanny, and her job was to keep track of cubs. He knew he wasn't very skilled at that, thus why he was a hunter.

"Mmm," he grunted as he stretched, enjoying how the sun always seemed to melt away his muscle aches. He had to be careful and make sure he didn't get too overheated, but at the moment, this was bliss.

When Kasida spotted someone near the water, she immediately began to reconsider her idea of walking out to the oasis. She knew she shouldn't feel so anxious, and that she had to overcome it but she couldn't really help how she felt. But she could control her actions, so she took a breath and kept walking. She didn't have to disturb him but if they did chat.. that wouldn't be so bad, either. It would be just fine.

She kept walking at her slow and steady and she didn't stop until she was at the water's edge. She wasn't thirsty so she only splashed at the water thoughtfully.

Raha didn't think to bother her while she was making her slow walk towards the water. He had noticed the limp, but didn't think anything of it. There were things that paralyzed Fatia even now, and he didn't think it would be kind to mention it, even in offering help. She seemed completely capable.

When she splashed the water without a reason, at least visually, he started to get a little interested. He just hoped that he wouldn't bother her too much. He sat up, shaking his pale golden mane before speaking. "Bored much?" he asked with a grin.

If she hadn't been so aware of his presence, the sudden question might have startled her. She hesitated and took her paw out of the water, backing up a bit and turning to get a better look at who was talking to her. He looked an appropriate color for a desert lion, and he did seem perfectly friendly. So she put on a smile, hoping it would help her feel friendlier herself.

"I guess so," she said, her voice starting out a normal volume but quieting as she continued, "Just taking a look around." This could be easier, she knew her attitude didn't help.

Raha wasn't put off by her attitude at all. He merely thought that she was still distracted with her thoughts, or something like that. He debated on continuing to bother her, but since he had started, it would be weird for him to just suddenly go quiet. So, he dove right back into it.

"Looking around?" he echoed. "So, are you new to these lands?" He couldn't help himself, and though he recalled the goddess' arrival, he wasn't the most attentive when it came to these things. He was having enough trouble just keeping track of the kids. Things had been more simple when it was just him and Fatia.

Kasida nodded, though she hadn't been expecting that question exactly. But it was a comfort to know despite the grand reception the gods, and by proxy she, had received had not really put much attention on her. It was easier that way, mostly.

"Yes," she said, her voice returning, "I came with Henya and Féawyn but I haven't really- haven't been out and about much yet." She needed to learn and she was starting but she had to push herself more.

"Oh, you arrived with them?" he asked, even though he knew the answer. Dumb questions like that always seemed like an easy way to keep conversation going. "Well, you came at a good time, I think. There's a lot of things always going on, but sometimes there's more quiet moments, like right here." He grinned. "I'm sure my mate is up to her eyeballs in cubs, but she likes that. I don't as much, and enjoy a quiet moment here and then."

Though, he hoped that didn't make her want to leave. "Or some easy conversation, like this. I'm sure you'll like it, it might just take a little getting used to." It was easy for him, but for his mate, it had been very difficult to get her used to pridal ways where she wasn't a servant/slave to everyone.

Kasida was silent as Raha spoke, nodding when he repeated what she said about arriving with the two deities and smiling as he mentioned his mate and tried to sell how nice a pride it was here. So far she wasn't having that bad of a time, but she'd never been a part of a pride. She felt compelled to trust them all immediately, especially if she was expecting to be fed, but it didn't happen like that. Hearing someone else say it could take some getting used to was encouraging, he didn't even know she was having that much trouble.

"Everybody has been very nice," she said thoughtfully, glancing down to her paws but making sure to look back up, "I hadn't expected such a welcome but I'm not used to traveling with gods, either."

Raha waved a paw, but he chuckled too. "Don't sell yourself too short. You're more than just someone traveling with gods. You're yourself. You're here talking to me on your own, right?"

He didn't quite feel like he was talking with one of his kids, but it reminded him of encouraging Fatia to keep her head up when there were rough days. No need to beat yourself up over something you couldn't always help.

"You seem nice enough yourself, I hadn't even known you had come with them until you mentioned it." He smiled again. "Not that I'm the most observant lion around here, that's why I'm just a hunter."

She was visibly startled by what he said, but she smiled. He was being very nice, you couldn't deny that. And while she could have been suspicious, she just couldn't imagine any reason to be now. She really ought to fit in better with the other mortals than with Henya and Féa.

"Oh, my name is Kasida," she said suddenly, realizing she hadn't introduced herself. And she lifted her head a bit more when he mentioned he was a hunter. Hunters were why she was really here, in a way. Her loyalty would grow over time but her dependence was high from the start.

"Just a hunter doesn't sound right, you help those who can't hunt, like- like me," she said, smiling, "That is something I am very grateful for."

"Ah! I'm Raha," he said with a nod. "It's a pleasure, trust me. Sometimes I run across members that like to talk my ears off, so a laid back conversation like this is a welcome change."

Huh? Oh, oh. Honestly, he hadn't really thought of her limp. "Oh, I don't mind," he said with a chuckle. "My mate sometimes shrugs off that she's a nanny, but I know I wouldn't be able to handle being around little ones all day, so I get what you mean. I'm grateful that she loves her job, like I enjoy mine." He was good at it, and it was nice to see those that were too busy to hunt have full bellies.

She nodded along as he explained how his mate was a nanny. Kasida didn't have much experience with little ones, just with Féa, but she could imagine a whoooole bunch of them all at once would take a very special, patient kind of person. Being in a pride, she'd probably see more than she ever had before. It would be very interesting.

"That's a nice thing about prides," she mused, "Everybody can do something they're good at." She just hoped she'd be good at what she was going to be doing.

Raha nodded. He had always lived in a pride, and so he didn't have a good idea of what life was like living on your own. He had an idea that it was difficult, but he wasn't willing to test it out. He had spent a little time out in the rogue lands, the lands between prides. Mainly from the Pridelands to here, but he didn't enjoy it. Especially with a skittish lioness as a companion/love interest.

"Yes, that's really true," he nodded, agreeing with her statement. He hadn't really thought about it like that, but he did take a lot of things for granted. "I'm sure you'll find something soon, if you haven't figured it out already."

"I've gone through the ranks already, the only one that seems realistic would be a scribe, but I have a lot to learn," she said thoughtfully, not realizing how much she was actually saying. She needed to figure these things out at some point and Raha was making it easy, it wasn't like she could talk the same way the Henya. She and Féa weren't going to be any specific mortal rank, they were patrons.

Hopefully she could do it, there weren't many other options for her. She'd just have to work hard.
