Prelude
In the year 2012...nothing happened. That is to say, nothing disastrous happened. Oh, sure, there was the presidential elections, the war in the Middle East winding down, the economy of the U.S. and the World as a whole were recovering, but over all, the year 2012 was a boring, average year. Nostradamus was wrong. The Mayans were wrong. Everyone who predicted that the world as we knew it would end in 2012 was wrong. Go figure. ironically, 2012 was the jumping off point. After that year, technology exploded. It was as if now that the impending doom that everyone had been fearing was gone, no one held back anymore. By the year 2018, the first fully functioning techno-organic organs were created and mass produced. Medicines and bionics exploded onto th scene of the world. Diseases that had been mass murderers of the human race could now either be prevented through vaccinations or treated with new drugs. America, Japan, and Germany, the heads in this medicinal and technological race became the new world super powers, their populations enjoying extended life spans, the elimination of disease, and idyllic, wealthy lifestyles. Oil, Coal, and Natural Gases were replaced by Hydrogen, Solar, Wind, Geothermic, and Hydroelectric powers, converting America and her allies from fossil burning nations in to clean, advanced, electric wonderlands. America's national debt was resolved by 2050, and America only became richer from there. nations were lining up at America's front steps with trade agreements, offers for importation and exportation of goods, and even nations wanting to annex themselves into the United States. By 2100, the United States consister of the original fifty states, as well as all of the provinces of Canada, Mexico, the nations of South America, Cuba, and Puerto Rico. The new territory was divied up into new states, a total of one hundred new states. America prospered even more, and in the year 2110, it became a socialist nation. Using the wealth of the government to fund relief and welfare programs for the empoverished, the United States of America became the most prosperous and powerful nation in the world. The future was bright. In terms of millitary strength, no one could oppose America's might. Of course, they didn't have to. America had no interest in conquering other nations. For once, the country was happy with the land it had. After all, with so many new resources, why would they need any more? They simply didn't. For years, America enjoyed a new "Golden Age".
Unfortunately, the Golden Age wouldn't last. The new Socialist America had elected leaders, something that the people had demanded to be left unchanged. Naturally, there were going to be a few bad eggs in the bunch. One leader, a man by the name of Jonathan Steele, was elected in the year 2174. An imperial man by nature, he began aggressively expanding the country's millitary power, spending money on advances is weapons technology, and even bringing about the return of the "Super Soldier" Programs. Naturally, cybernetic implants had become almost standard issue in the millitary. Such implants increased the natural abilities of the soldiers, made it easier for them to coordinate movements, and even kept track of them in the field. However, it wasn't enough. Experiments using prosthetic limbs and organs, as well as mind controlling chips and even Nanites were conducted, all in an attempt to create the perfect soldier. A method of converting humans into cyborg soldiers was invented. Using advanced Techno-Organic, Nanite, and Surgical technologies, the first true Cyborgs were created. Using volunteer soldiers, the U.S. millitary created the first "Cybernetic Soldiers". They were many times faster, stronger, and more durable than human soldiers, even those with the typical millitary upgrades. However, there was a draw back. Of the tweny men who volunteered the program, on five of them actually survived. It was determined that Adult bodies, already finished with their growth process, could not easily adapt to the changes in their physiology. The shock of such drastic changes and the inability to cope with them forced the bodies to shut down, and the soldiers to die. It was determined that Adults were not fit for conversion into Cybernetic Soldiers.
Meanwhile, during all of the experimentation, a series of staged terrorist attacks put into action by President Steele allowed him to tighten his hold on the American public as a whole. Freedoms were stripped away, one by one. Disappearances among dissenters were becoming rather common. Few people were bold enough to speak out, and the ones that did vanished quickly. Lulled into a sense of security by the years of peace they had seen, and then shocked by the horrific "Terrorist" attacks, the Americans were quick to allow the government to take total control, believing it was necessary for the security of the nation. They had no idea what was truly going on. With all his new power, President Steele named himself Chancellor, eliminating Congress, The Senate, and the Supreme Court. He and his cabinate now had complete and total control over the inner workings of the United States. As such, it was easy for them to procure new test subjects for their Cybernetic Soldier program. Adults were too old to be used in the program, but children...children were a different story. Gathering homeless and unwanted children off of the streets, a total of one hundred children, ages nine to sixteen, were brought to a millitary base in the New Mexico deserts. There, over the course of five years, the process of converting these children into Cybernetic Soldiers began. Training and conditioning them to be the perfect soldiers, implanting obediance chips so that they could not disobey orders, and increasing their rates of growth through chemical means, they prepared their super soldiers for live combat. In the end, ninety-five cybernetic soldiers were produced.
Chancellor Steele, now fully aclimated to his new level of power, began using the millitary might of the united states to conquer more territory, to annex more nations, to bring the entire planet under his domain. With a proven method now in place, more and more Super Soldiers were being produced. They had not been sent into battle yet, and their existance was hidden from the public, but the force of ninety-five soon swelled to a startling five hundred. Steele began looking for an excuse to test drive his new toys, so he began targeting his allies. After conquering Great Britain, France, and Spain, as well as most of the smaller surrounding nations, America turned its sights on Germany. In an Ironic turn of events, American forces swarmed across Germany's borders, blasting through Belgium, Austria, and Poland and immediately siezing much of the Souther end of the nation. Germany retaliated quickly, fighting back with all its might. Casualties rose on either side, and Steele was pleased. He finally had a reason to test the Cybernetic Soldiers. Ensuring that plenty of cameras would be there to film the first use of these new weapons, he gave the order to deploy all five hundred of the current soldiers to the front line. The resulting slaughter was aired across telivisions world wide. Without so much as blinking, without even hesitating, the soldiers, most of whom were little more than children, butchered the enemy forces, mowing them down in a bloody hailstorm of bullets. Even when they were shot, the Cybernetic Soldiers did not slow in their duty. The effect was a crushing moral defeat for Germany, and with more Cybernetic Soldiers being deployed almost daily, Germany soon fell.
As America conquered more and more of the world, more and more children and teenagers were "drafted" for the Cybernetic Soldier program. None were taken from their families at first, and as long as it remained orphans and homeless children, no one truly cared. Yes, seeing children on the battle field WAS a terrible thing, but the American people soon adopted an attitude along the lines of "So Long As It's Not My Child." It wasn't until children with families started disappearing that people became worried, even angry. Small insurgent groups, comprising of people who'd been against the Super Soldier program from the start as well as those who had lost their children, began gathering in force. As America dominated the entire planet, the insurgent groups began preparing for open warfare with the new empire that had swallowed up their planet.
The year is now 2286. The war between the Empire of Steele and the rebel groups has raged for more than a century. The world has become a hellscape of war, famine and disease. The Steele Dynasty has not ceased in its super soldier program, now cloning children as well as capturing them to make their super soldiers, as well as using Control Chips in adults to make them obediant normal infantry. The rebellion is losing. Their tactics have been reduced to guerilla warfare, espionage, and assassinations. Cybernetic Soldiers, now called C-Borgs by the general populace and Cybers as a form of insult, make up the majority of the Empire of Steele's millitary might. Rumor has spread among the rebellion of a new weapon, a new model of C-Borg that would be the deadliest ever created. The Rebellion has began to act on this information, sending spies deep into the Empire of Steele's territory in an attempt to uncover the new weapon, capture it, or destroy it. This is where the real story begins.
