I really want one of these, i've heard mixed reveiws over them. What is your opinion on them?

I like the way it looks! And from my own research, it would have a rather bright, jazzy tone, concidering the Rickenbacker has a hollow body. However im not to fond of the short scale, 20 frets, and that they dont make 5 or 6 string models.. xp

That metal bar over the pickup(s) really cramps my style, literally.

The bassist from franz ferdinan uses a rickenbacker! lol I love they way they look I wanted on myself but I have no cash

yeah well 1000 dollars is way to much when your 18 and living on your own lol I only have a cheep nova that I payed 300 for and that came with a new amp. patchcord and every thing.

Ive played a rick, I think they look awesome, infact...Im not even going to get in to that...Heh..
The metal thing pisses me off, they have em' on some of the older style jazz basses, they agervate the hell out of me, but CAN be taken off.

Meh, atleastyou have a reliable income... even though im still living with my parents, I dont have a steady income...

I Love Rickenbackers! anyway yah, its the perfect kinda bass for tha kind of band im playin in, which is an early 70's type band, im looking at a black one, but first i have to find a place that sells them in the Salem, OR area sad and they look so cool with that awsome shape! xd

I have a Rick 4003 with a Seymour Duncan bridge pickup. I play slap, so I have the pickup cover (or "bar" as you may call it) removed. I got crazy lucky with finding it. The shop had only had it for a couple days and was selling it for only $700 with the original case and original bridge pickup because it has a few minor blemishes in the body and head. I love the looks and the tone. The only down side to Ricks is that they have 2 truss rods, which makes it slightly less convenient to adjust. Still the best bass I'll ever find for that price.
