I like the way it looks! And from my own research, it would have a rather bright, jazzy tone, concidering the Rickenbacker has a hollow body. However im not to fond of the short scale, 20 frets, and that they dont make 5 or 6 string models.. xp

That metal bar over the pickup(s) really cramps my style, literally.

Ive played a rick, I think they look awesome, infact...Im not even going to get in to that...Heh..

The metal thing pisses me off, they have em' on some of the older style jazz basses, they agervate the hell out of me, but CAN be taken off.

I have a Rick 4003 with a Seymour Duncan bridge pickup. I play slap, so I have the pickup cover (or "bar" as you may call it) removed. I got crazy lucky with finding it. The shop had only had it for a couple days and was selling it for only $700 with the original case and original bridge pickup because it has a few minor blemishes in the body and head. I love the looks and the tone. The only down side to Ricks is that they have 2 truss rods, which makes it slightly less convenient to adjust. Still the best bass I'll ever find for that price. Here's a pic of me and my baby:

Actually there are 5 string models, but they're hard to find. User Image
