It was dark, her least favourite time of the day. For some reason, Amethyst Rain's eyes never fully adjust to the darkness and she usually stumbled around half blind once the sun is down- it was unfortunate and difficult for her, but she managed to make do.
Usually she would sleep just as the sun was going down and would rise as it came up, but the heat in the swamp was so stifling tonight that she simply couldn't get comfortable enough to actually sleep. Instead she sat in the brightest spot she could find, a dry patch where dozens and dozens of glowing bugs floated around, dancing rather jubilantly. She would giggle as they flew closer and closer, occasionally landing on her hide for a break inbetween different dances.
Amethyst Rain was never lonely- not with the glow-bugs to keep her company in the dark- but sometimes somebody to talk to was nice.

Sun Petal enjoyed both day and night. To him both had a value and a use. Of course the night was the best time to sleep for he loved to frolic about in the sun light. Well for him he felt one with the bright sun. Something about this night would not let him sleep at all. So he wandered about the night looking for, well, something. His coat was a little bright for the dark time of night. As he walked something caught his eyes, lots of glowing bugs! And something else? Another kimeti it seemed! Sun Petal approached the other, a female it seemed. "Hello?"

Amethyst Rain's eyes slid over to the new Kimeti, going wide with some sort of fright.
She rose to all fours and shuffled backwards slightly, letting out a little cry of alarm when she stumbled over her own feet and toppled backwards, landing quite heavily on her rear end.
Blushing deeply, though it was masked somewhat by the dark night ( granted the fireflies lit her face up anyway ), Amethyst Rain scooted back again, but did not try away to run a second time.
Strange as it was, she always reacted like this when other Kimeti approached her; she was weary of the unkind and chose to believe that not as many Kimeti were of the goodnatured variety as other Kimeti may attempt to make her believe.

From what he could make out in this darkness, the other seemed frightened. Oh great. He was never one to make much friends but to already scare someone... Sun petal was slightly sad by that, he'd only said hello.
She didn't seem to fare to well for she had fallen over when trying to run but only moved slightly. Had she given up running? He wasn't much to be afraid of anyway.
He took just a step forward. "Hello? Are you okay? Sorry to frighten you, I was just surprised to see another out this late."

Amethyst Rain shook softly- from fright or cold or something else altogether.
With the other Kimeti approaching her as carefully as he seemed to be, she kept her ground. Or rather, she simply didn't move.
"O-oh." she managed to squeak out, "I... I couldn't sleep." her voice was soft, barely a whisper. She wasn't sure why she was explaining herself when it was actually the other Kimeti that had 'walked in' on her, so to speak.

Sun Petal noticed her shake in the dark night. There were many things he could only guess caused that. He decided to stop and not approach anymore, not wanting to frighten her anymore. She didn't run, which was good.
He was rather interested in why someone else was up at this time, especially one that seemed afraid of all of this.
"Neither could I." He smiled just a bit, it was hard to hear her so he took just a step forward. "I'm really sorry to have bothered you, I can leave if you want."

Amethyst Rain fought the urge to flinch when he took a step closer but relaxed when he became more visible.
He was awfully handsome. Such warm, gentle colours, soft spirals and stripes...
She blinked, he was talking!
"Ah..! N-no, it's okay!" she spoke, a little too quickly and too loudly for the quiet night. Blushing, Amethyst Rain cast her eyes downwards, "I... I mean you can stay if you want. I'm not bothered by it." she paused before looking back up and adding, "really. I-I was just surprised is all."

Sun grinned when he saw that she relaxed. He hated scaring others, especially since he wasn't scary at all! She was quite purple looking from what he could tell in the darkness. It was a nice color compared in contrast to his own.
Was she staring at him now? He chuckled.
He was glad he didn't have to leave. How often did he find someone willing to talk at this hour? "Like I said, it's interesting to find another up right now. Oh, I'm Sun Petal, nice to meet you." He thought for a moment. "What were you doing here, besides not sleeping?"

"Ah..." She looked away sheepishly when he chuckled, keeping her head turned.
"Nice... To meet you." she repeated, nodding slightly.
It would be rude not to introduce herself after that so she nodded again, looking back towards him but not quite focusing on his face, instead staring at a spot just over his head. "I'm Amethyst Rain." she sort-of-whispered. "...I was just watching the glow-bugs dance. Hoping they would lull me to sleep despite the heavy heat."
