Another day was another mile traveled in Fionuir Rhoswe's mind. The looming mountains ahead only gave her some semblance of challenge, a welcome challenge, in her mind. If she could get through the mountains by the end of today or tomorrow she'd be free in the Soquili lands. Or at least that's what the stories her father told her said.
She actually wasn't totally sure what lie ahead of those mountains. The stories that blossomed in her imagination as a young filly drew her to leave her home and find out. With only those memories as her guide she left when she became of age, and began to travel the endless lands and bodies of water in front of her.
Fionuir let in a huge breath of the fresh air, so much different from where she had originally come from; it was a nice change of pace. As the sun warmed her coat and the leaves danced overhead she started to notice the path become more harsh on her hooves; the mountains casting a long shadow from being so close now. As she made her way towards a nearby entrance to the mountains she caught wind of an unfamiliar smell. Stopping, her ears flicked to catch any noise, only to find nothing.
'hmmm,' she thought as started walking again, this time a bit slower just in case, senses completely on guard. Something was nearby and she wasn't about to get snuck up on.

Zacarias had ears pinned back as he had caught wind of someone lurking about the area. snorting, he went off to find just who that was. he had to be extra careful since he knew kalona roamed the area alot and he only stayed in the area to make sure no one coming through would get hurt or worse. so he made it his daily routine to make sure to warn anyone passing in that there was dangerous kalona roaming and that they could get hurt. once he knew it wasn't a kalona he had caught wind of, he came out of hiding and into plain sight. " you shouldn't roam this area by yourself, it is very dangerous to do so."

With a snort Fionuir halted to look back at the new voice, ears pinned just slightly in annoyance, "I need to go through these mountains. And I highly doubt they are so dangerous as they seem. Plus I am more than capable in defending myself. My father did teach me how to back when I was a filly."
She paused for a moment regarding the stallion before her eyes, taking in his armored form, "Regardless, I do not think it is up to you to decide what I do or do not do. You don't even know me."

Zarcarias gave a toss of his head, and snorted. " you would do well to listen to my warning. i know this area very well and what dangers can lurk here." stomping a hoof, he did not want her getting into danger around this area just because she was being foolish. " i also take it upon myself to keep those who come wandering in randomly safe from any danger. if you contiune to insist to go through this are or explore it, i have no choice to accompany you to make sure you stay safe." chest puff, he stood proudly but not arrogantly in front of her and wanted to make sure she knew that he was serious.

Fionuir scowled at the stallion in front of her. She seriously didn't need any sort of bodyguard. And yet this stallion still insisted that she either turn back or let him come with her. She mentally rolled her eyes; there was no way in hell she was going to turn back at this point, not after coming so far.
"As I said, you don't know me. Do what you want but I'm going through here whether you like it or not. I can handle myself." she replied even more annoyed now thinking that he had the right to coddle her.
With a swish of her tail Fionuir traveled forward again, this time at a bit faster pace than her normal gait, hoping to be rid of him.

Zarcarias just rolled his eyes with a grunt and didn't even bother to give her a response. since he had gotten his way, he felt no need to say anything more for the moment. for now he would guard her and make sure she safely passed through the area. though he made sure to keep his distance so that she would not be further angry with him just because he felt it was necessary to do this.

As the time went by Fionuir was hoping that her quicker gait would deter the stallion behind her from following her anymore. Unfortunately the longer she traveled into the lands the more this didn't seem the case. The thought continued to pester her and annoy her. At this point it annoyed her more that he was so far behind rather than next to her. She may be a dominate type of mare but that did not mean she wanted a servant type of stallion following behind her like a puppy. It almost seemed like she was babysitting him rather him babysitting her. Not that she needed babysitting but that was not the point.
With a small growl in the back of her throat she stopped and turned to stare at said stallion, "If you insist on following me still at least keep up. It's annoying to have you following me from behind. I don't like it."
Sure, it came out sounding rather mean. Inherently she wasn't a mean type of mare, she just had a short fuse. Suffice to say it was for this reason she insisted on traveling alone. Nobody needed to be around her and pushing her buttons. Maybe she'd feel sorry for her words later.

Zarcarias stopped when she did and give a sigh when she snapped at him about not keeping pace with her. " i was respectfully giving you space. if you would prefer that i keep pace with you, then i have no issues doing so." if he wasn't such a gentleman of honor, he probably would of snapped but he remained calm. " shall we continue or is there anything else?" he stood there with a raised brow, as he awaited her answer since he rather not further annoy her.

There were plenty of words Fionuir could have said. However she doubted he would take those words well. She also didn't think his patience would continue at it's current level either. As much as she hated to admit it, she would rather just let him come with so he'd shut up instead of losing his patience completely and getting in her face. She had worse things to deal with than a pissed off stallion. Quite frankly she didn't want to deal with anything at all. So in light of this she huffed, stopped, and turned to him.
"Rule number one, keep up with me. Rule number two, I decide where we go. Rule number three, you can follow so long as you pull your own weight."
And without waiting for a reply she turned on her haunches and resumed walking. Now that wasn't as bad as her yelling at him to mind his own business. Maybe he'd see that? Well, with her luck she doubted it but who knows, her luck might have turned for the better. Fionuir would have to see. At least in her young mind it seemed like the middle ground to go.
