Sitting at the base of the Stones, Ziarre'ari watched in silence as the pride gathered around her. Some looked curious, some confused, and some just looked irritated. She saw faces that had helped to rebuild the Aali'makabila from a ragtag group of survivors, and faces that were new to these lands. One and all, they were the pride that Zaliwa had rekindled from a dying ember of its former self. They were the Aali'makabila.

Once the majority of the pride had gathered, Ziarre rose to her feet and began to speak. Her voice was loud and clear, reaching all of those assembled.

"The leader of our pride, the mtawala Zaliwa'ya Mwamba, has been abducted. Stolen, from the very heart of our lands...by a god! Not one of ours, no--a stranger to our honored ways, an unknown beast with eyes of fire. The leomaizi have been unable to scry upon Zaliwa's whereabouts, or even whether he lives or dies. We must assume, until the day he returns, that he is lost to us. But the Aali'makabila are strong and proud, and the guidance of Survial and Superstition will not fail us. Until such a day as he might return to these lands, I vow to preserve the traditions of this pride, and protect the legacy that he fought to rebuild.

"Your mtawala stands before you. She takes Pyralis as her sheikh, and appoints Kibuluu'moshi as your gumu until such time as a tournament of strength can be arranged."

[OOC Notes]

The former ruler of the pride has vanished. Distrusting of the former heir, Orod'aelin, Ziarre has taken upon herself the title of mtawala and is now the ruler of the Aali'makabila. Pyralis is her second-in-command as sheikh, and Kibuluu'moshi is leading the ushujaa until a proper test of strength can decide a new gumu.

Nearly all of the pride is here ICly, save for those unable to travel to the Stones. Any member of the pride can post - the thread will be open until the end of June. While the thread is open, any new member of the pride can use it as a joining RP. Only one post is required for it to count, but the post should address all of the following:

-Arriving at the Stones. This is a site of great significance to the pride, where nearly all of their rituals and festivals take place.
-Thoughts on Zaliwa'ya Mwamba's disappearance. Do you believe that he was abducted? Do you think that he was killed, or do you hold firm that he is yet alive somewhere?
-Thoughts on Ziarre'ari declaring herself mtawala. Do you support her? Do you think Orod'aelin should lead instead? Do you care?
-Thoughts on the new sheikh and gumu. Do you approve of the lions chosen?
-Do you think a tournament is a fitting test to decide the next gumu? If you are (or want to be) an ushujaa, do you hope to take part in the tournament?
-The god who spirited away the previous leader was a very large one. It's possible that some of the pridal members closer to the spirited away ruler's proximity may have seen him! Has this news traveled to you?

Note: 'You' means your lion(ess), not...actually you. JUST CLEARING THAT UP.

Furiko was one of the first lions to gather at the stones once the word had spread of the gathering. He had a clear view of his mother from where she sat at the base of the stones. It had been a while since they had spoke and he'd grown tremendously. His muscles were defined more and his mane was completely grown in. He was a grown lion now and contributing to the pride at his very best.

After a few more moments he noted the group that was gathered and was suprised at the size of the group. He'd never realized how many there were in his pride until now. Out of the corner of his eye Furiko noticed his mother rising and turned his attention to what she had to say. Suprise made it's way across Furiko's face at his mothers words. Their leader had been abducted by a god?! It seemed impossible but he'd heard stories as a cub of evil gods who did cruel things like this but he never believed it would happen.

As his mother continued on with her speech his suprise turned to pride. His mother was going to take over the pride and be mtawala. He was the son of the pride leader. Furiko couldn't have been anymore prouder of his mother than he was at that moment. There was no doubt in his mind who he would follow between the new mtawala and the old one. Anyone who wanted to argue over her taking the position would be arguing with him too.

Hanikiza had felt out of place leaving the place where the Ushujaa lived and protected the lands. Knowing that it was an important meeting gave her the ability to join with others in the pride gathering at the Stones.

After she had arrived, she let herself linger a bit, only drawing her attention to Ziarre'ari once she had begun to speak. Being an Ushujaa, she certainly knew who she was, but Hanikiza was not much of a talker. She listened intently, curiosity mingling with dread. What god had decided to do this? Such a blow to their pride, even with Ziarre's proclamation that she would take over his post. The black lioness understood, was even supportive, but she wondered, could this happen again? Could their be another shakeup in the future? She could only hope that her mind was getting the better of her, and worrying more than was needed.

She kept her questions and thoughts to herself, knowing that she would be supportive. That was what was needing, to keep the strength within the Aali'makabila growing.

Pyralis had been at the meeting point long before anybody else, which was to be expected of the large male who was constantly seen with Ziarre, as though playing some sort of emotional support with his position near her side. However, he hadn't risen with her when she took it upon herself to put the new status of the pride in place, just the image of that large god, even larger than his own size, hardly a dark shadow whisking himself away from the pride on wings larger than any he'd ever seen.

Truly, it was quite an image to be within his mind, but he allowed it only brief passing when Ziarre spoke, seeming to take very little surprise in his sudden 'upgrade' in status, his ears flicking back while he scanned over those who were gathering. He could see his 'son' (well, Ziarre's son. He was simply a somewhat implied (albeit anybody could see not by blood) father) there, looking proud as could be of his mother.

Hourig was probably basking in just as much pride about it.

Which wasn't even a surprise, as the pale coated male had muscled his way to the front, shooting his half-brother a look, before looking intently towards his parents. Certainly he had to support why it was his mother had taken up the reigns of the pride (as well as put his quite physically capable up there to help keep things in line if needed), but there was something nagging at him ever so slightly;

Was there going to be some sort of search outside of the pridal lands for their absent mtawala? Well, ex-mtawala? Or even the god that had spirited them off? But even more importantly to him..

a contest for the rank of Gumu? Hourig had to keep himself from seeming too excited about this prospect, fidgetting anxiously in his seat. -He- wanted it. He wanted that position his mother had held. He had both of his parents strength; it wasn't an impossible dream!

But if he was going to express this, it would be to Tana or Mkazo. Only his siblings would be allowed to know (even if it would spawn a rivalry between the brothers).

Tana could see it now, her brothers arguing over who got to head the Ushujaa in their mother's stead. Ha! She was more impressed by her father's new status (as it meant he'd be allowed more time to go and see her amongst her new task with the children), seeming to puff with pride near the back of the ranks.

But that didn't mean she didn't also have her own concerns... what if the acts of this god were meant to split the pride? There had already been a great deal of scattering, from what she'd heard from her parents, when the child of a previous leader had come back to the pride to protest the old Mtawala's status...

Would that happen again?

It was easy for Liamyr to find her way to the Stones, to this place that obviously held much importance to the pride, despite the fact she had never been before. It was easily... All she had to do was trail along quietly after one of the many other silent and somber lions. New to this land, still partially considered an outsider, she'd not yet truly made a friend. News did not easily reach her ears. But when you saw the entire pride all moving to the same location? Well, obviously you should follow... And this news... It would not be happy.

While the masses gathered, she kept herself to the side, out of the way, silent and studying this festival ground as it filled with lions, some silent, some whispering among themselves. But she could catch nothing specific... Not until Ziarre'ari decided to speak. Gray hues widened as such disastrous news spilled from her fellow lioness' lips, causing Liam to sit slowly. The pride she'd had such hope for... The leader she had dreamed to some day meet.. Stolen away by some monstrous deity!?

How could such a strong leader, who could raise a pride from the brink of nothing, to a thriving home, be taken as if it were nothing? Were gods truly so strong as to do what ever they pleased without a care? Lives or dies... No. She may have never met the leader of her new pride, but she knew he would not die, the burning spirit of a warrior in her at least told her that much. He was too strong. And until his return... Focus upon the present.. And a new leader to meet and honor with her ways of the warrior.

Ziarre'ari.

The other two she did not know, but considering who chose them... She knew nothing of the politics of the pride yet, but Ziarre'ari was a lioness to be respected. Her rule was just as acceptable. And a tournament! Nothing would please her more... Not, she had no dreams of grandeur. An outsider like her? Becoming the Gumu? It was laughable. But it would not stop her participation! She dreamed of being a fighter, a defender of this pride. She would show them her skill as a Ushujaa... Gain the trust and respect that she has already granted the leaders here.

Pleased with her new goals, and with the announcements apparently made, Liam turned away from the stones to move back down away from the gathering, allowing the pride to grieve the loss of their leader without the presence of an outsider.

It was a time of need - one that Andraste had never quite expected to be witness to. The leader of their pride was gone, the one they had all admired and trusted, who had rebuilt their pride from the ground up. The thought brought sadness flooding through her, for though she had never known Zaliwa personally, the stories of his deeds had been more than adequate to earn her undying support.

And yet. It was not simply a time to grieve for their ill fortune. They had to continue, they had to thrive in order to keep alive that which Zaliwa had fought so hard to achieve. New leadership, new personalities to understand and follow.

And, perhaps, the chance to become the new gumu. Andraste had never had such ambitions, but at a time like this, when they needed strong, capable leaders, perhaps, just perhaps, she could be of service to the price that she loved so dearly.

Domnikali sat back from the closest spot next to the stones and where others gathered closely. His eyes glanced up towards Ziarre'ari, Pyralis, their family and the others near. He kept his eyes closed, his ears listening closely, the light hurt more today than normal, and his eyes sensitivity never seemed to become better.

Swaying his tail and curling it around his form he knew the choice had to be made, but a god. A god had come here and stolen Zaliwa away? His chest felt aflame, he had not been there to protect, to deter and try to help. Being a Ushujaa he prided himself on strength, intellect, but now, he had to prove himself once again to himself, he had to make a difference with this next wave of leadership.

Karndess drew herself slowly next to her own mate as she watched Ziarre speak with strength while being close to her own. Karndess smiled and approved of the female strength stepping up to lead their pride. The Ushujaa, Karndess herself, would be proud and honored to be part of a pride with such standings. True, Karndess had biases, but now was the time for true strength in female stature to be shown. Karndess would be ready to help.

There were new faces, ones that were slightly familiar and so she knew that others were coming now, coming to Ziarre's voice. She would have to guard the boundaries carefully, especially in prospects of the god returning. She grinned, crimson eyes watching, ears erect, she would love to give that god a taste of her own strength.

Karm looked to her father and mother, and peered around looking for her brother's bright eyes. She stayed far from her parents side. Since her new coming into the age and size of adulthood, she felt the need to digress away from their rules and standards. But she was quiet, this place, this area even with Ziarre's voice, it demanded quiet respect.

He forelegs were placed firmly beneath her and the idea of a rogue god nearby made her worry, but also curious. There was so much that could be done now that she had grown out from under her parent's rules, she could do as she wished-within reason. Smiling, Karm looked to the others, looked to the males especially-her competition. She would fight for her rightful place.

Tiifu hung at the edges of the gathering, not far from the Stones but not in the middle of the fray. His eyes were searching for his mate, he had heard word that she was alive. As Ziarre began to speak though he paused in his search to listen. He was an ushujaa, a warrior and a warrior didn't lose focus.

Zaliwa, that name it was familiar from his time in the pride before the plague. He couldn't quite place it, but was confused that he had been leading the pride. It was Orod'aelin that was named heir before the blue male fled. Tiifu was beyond caring about the politics of the pride though, so much had changed in the time he was gone. If he was honest with himself he wanted to find Raja and only have to worry about her and patrolling.

The only thing that slightly interested him was the tournament of strength. He knew Raja would push him to enter. She was fiercely proud of her blood ties to the pride, and of his, and she knew she wouldn't want there to be a gumu that hadn't been born of the Aali'makabila. Looking around now he didn't see many from the original pride. It seemed like he and Raja were the only two left, that was if the rumours he heard were true and she had returned to the pride.

Tiifu shook himself determined, he'd support the new leaders of his pride, and he'd find his mate. Things were going to be better now that he was in his old home.

Zillisubhani was a lion that looked out for himself, and in this pride that meant looking out for the ones in charge and doing the things he was asked to do. As he arrived at the stones to see Ziarre sitting there in her newly found regal glory, he found himself aching a little for his former ruler. Zaliwa had been good to him since he had been brought to the pride and his disappearance was deeply disturbing. He had heard the rumors, heard them from lions very close to Zaliwa, and in his heart.. he had to believe that he was out there somwhere. If he was out there though, he hadn't come back to them, and Zilli had no idea what that could mean.

As he listened to Ziarre's speech and her new decrees, he also knew that he would not act out against any of them. Like always, he was going to fall into his place and do exactly what was expected of a lion in his position. Pyralis, Kibuluu - these were good lions. They were lions capable of ruling the positions Ziarre had appointed them to and he wasn't one to question. He would obey her as he had Zaliwa and do his duty to the pride.

Until the time of the tournament, he could only sit and watch as the pride fell into it's new way of life. He would offer what help his visions provided, as he had always done, but otherwise he would just.. observe. That, too, he had always done. If Ziarre thought she could handle this pride, then he believed in her, and he believed in what she did.

As her speech wrapped up, he bowed his head deeply in acceptance of her, and turned to leave. Now he just wanted to see what lion would prove himself worthy in the tournament - that would be an interesting show of skill.
