Zee was not pleased; but that was to be expected. The sleep deprieved formerly pregnant elf was a ball of negative emotions. Mostly he was cranky, and so behaving like a toddler who had missed his afternoon nap too many times. He wanted to sleep! Why did Leyla insist on keeping him up all night?
Howl was presently dialing phone numbers; the reason his father was so unhappy. "I'm sure Uncle Matthias would love to see his daughter," Howl said, dialing said uncle's number. Then he'd dial Stasia's, and invite her over (she should have been over anyway, in his opinion). "Uncle Matth? It's Howl. Come see Leyla." Without waiting for a response, he hung up and dialed Stasia's number. "Mom? Come on over. Dad's waiting for you."
"Dun call Auntie," Devin warned from his corner. The toddler was supposed to be in time-out, but he seemed to be throughly enjoying it. "Dun call Auntie. Thee bad for Daddy." Howl silently agreed. Aunt Thali would have to wait.
"I don't want Matthias to come!" Zee wailed. "He'll ruin everything!"

The pair of adults showed up together, carpooling as usual. Stasia hummed, carrying little Ae in. The half elf was simply brimming with excitement; she couldn't wait to see the baby! She was a bit miffed about no one calling her for the pregnancy, but she wouldn't hold it against them. As long as she got to meet the little cutie, it was all good.
Ae looked slightly intrigued. A new baby meant a new possible pet, or better....a minion. The dark-haired infant had a smirk at the thought, fingers steepling up as she plotted. So, it was a girl and her name was Leyla, eh? Acceptable enough, though she thought the name could have been better. She could rename her pet, so it was okay.
Milo was none to thrilled. The boy slunk behind the stupid adults, scowling. He didn't want to come see some stupid baby. What was so special about a baby? Just cause they were new? Feh. Whatever. He wanted to stay at home, but no. Dad made him come. Stupid prissy-pants father. Feh.
Matthias was looking forward to meeting his daughter; it should prove to be interesting, to say the least. Oh, he was still pissed. He wanted to rend those damnable Azoulais limb from limb and bathe in their blood, but he held no anger towards the child. It wasn't her fault, after all.

"Mommy!" Devin raced over to Stasia, as usual. "I mithed you! Come thee Leyla! Come thee! I takin' good care of her! I make thure Howl no break her." With that, he hugged Matthias around the knees. "Unca Matth! You here! Come thee baby?" The toddler all but glared at Milo; yes, he remembered him. The bully who liked calling him a smurf! "Daddy giving Howl a time out," Devi explained. The toddler was clearly amused at the idea of his older brother being in trouble.
Loki had just arrived in time to take Leyla from an irate Zee. He was cradling her in his arms, before yawning. "Hey Dad, Milo," he greeted. "Mom sent me over to help. Something about making sure Uncle Zee got some sleep before he turned into some kind of monster?"
But it seemed Loki had arrived too late for that. Crashes could be heard in the distance. "Howl's in trouble," he added, unneccesarily. "Oh, right! You came to see the baby. Trade, Aunt Stasia?"

Stasia smiled, hugging Devi. "I missed you too, kiddo." she said, smiling as she ruffled his mop of silver. She was about to answer Loki when she heard the crash. She handed Ae over to Loki silently before hurrying towards the sound of the crash. Oh dear!
Matth took Leyla from Loki, smiling slightly at his son. "So, this is your younger sister?" he asked, looking amused. She was a beautiful little girl, wasn't she? Had to come from his side of the family. "Leyla, was it? A pleasure to meet you, little one." he greeted softly.
Milo smirked at Devin, amused. "I'm bigger now." he said, looming over the boy. Oh, he was having too much fun with this. "How's my favorite little smuuuuurf doing?" He asked, drawling out the smurf part.
Aesica reached out to her pet, looking at the blue fae. "See?" she asked, looking up at Loki and motioning to the baby. Her expression was completely innocent and curious....and completely falsified. Her eyes were the only honest part of her face, glinting mischievously and curiously.

"I told you not to invite him!" Zee was growling. "You're grounded!"
Loki took Aesica and hugged his favorite infant. He returned his father's smile with ease. "Yep. Trouble maker too, I think," he smirked, before lifting Aesica so she could see Leyla. "See? She's our baby sister."
Leyla made no response, except to snuggle into Matthias and reveal tiny white fangs with a yawn. She closed one hand around the cloth of his shirt, claiming him as her own.
Devin frowned, before hugging Milo's legs. "I thorry I hit you..." he muttered. "We be friendth? Pleath?" He looked up at the older boy with golden eyes. "Pleath? No call me thmurf."

"No you're not." Stasia cut in, smiling at Howl as she stepped in. She walked over, giving Zee a hug. "How're you feeling?" she asked, peering at him with a smile.
Aesica smiled, peering at Leyla. "Hello, littlest sister." she greeted, reaching out to pat her sister. She took a small breath, testing her sister's energy. Yep, she was acceptable. Definitely pet material, maybe even edible...
Matthias smiled, looking down at the little girl. "My, what nice fangs you have." he said, giving the infant a small hug. "She seems so sweet....you sure she's a trouble maker?" he asked, looking back up to Loki.
Milo just smirked. "Haven't you heard the saying that unseelie never forgive nor forget?" he said, flicking the boy on the top of the head. "Let go of me, will you? You're mussing up my shorts."

Zee frowned, and muttered something about Stasia shouldn't cancel his punishments where they were deserved. "Irritated," he said, truthfully, before returning the hug. "I'm sorry they didn't call..." He started to mutter again, this time about 'Stupid doctors' and how 'they shouldn't knock people out unawares.' "Have you seen Leyla?"
Leyla's eyes snapped open at Aesica's touch. She frowned, before baring her fangs in a tiny hiss. Scary energy stealer was scary! "Eehn..." She whined, before trying to reach Matth's hair. He'd make a good addition to her collection, now wouldn't he?
Loki nodded. "Positive. You should see the marks on Uncle Zee." He leaned in to whisper, "She doesn't seem to eat anything else. He's still gray." Another pause, in which he glanced at Leyla. "She can talk, you know. I heard her."
"I cannot!" Leyla retorted. Why was the older boy trying to give her away? And then she realized--there went her pretense of innocent baby. Now how was she supposed to observe her new family?

Stasia smiled, kissing his cheek. "Sorry to hear that, Zee." she said. "And don't worry about it, it wasn't your fault. She smiled, sitting next to the dark elf. "I saw her in passing. I was too worried about seeing how you were doing to get a good look." He still wasn't looking too good, poor guy.
Aesica smirked at the hiss, leaning closer. "Busted." she cooed, before laughing her ice-cold laugh. "Pets shouldn't hiss. Bad manners." she chastised, patting the blue faerie on the head.
Matthias looked concerned. "I'll have to teach her how to feed properly, then." he said, sighing. He then smiled, looking down at Leyla. He chuckled, amused. "Oh, you can't, can't you?" he asked, trying not to laugh.

"Howl's always breaking rules..." Zee complained. "But I'm fine, really. You should have stayed out there with Leyla." He yawned and leaned against her. "Stupid Matthias and his stupid recessive genes..." Stupid vampiristic fae! If not for him, Leyla would have been perfect.
"Don't pick on her," Loki muttered, frowning at Ae. "She's littler than you." He nodded at Matth. "I think you will, Dad."
Leyla frowned, and blew a raspberry at Aesica. "I'm not a pet," she said clearly. Stupid energy stealer! She clung to Matthias. "I'm not a pet... Bully." She glanced up at Matthias, eyes widening. "I like you," she stated. Clearly she had no idea who he was.

Stasia smiled, hugging him gently. "You need some rest." she said, her tone worried. "Maybe Matthias could take Leyla for a few days to let you recouperate? I'm sure he wouldn't mind." She chuckled. "And it's not his fault. It's the Azoulai's fault."
"We're the same size." Aesica pointed out, looking up at Loki with wide, innocent eyes. She looked to Leyla, smiling sweetly. "Either pet or food. You pick." she cooed, using the same tone Mom used with her.
Matthias nodded, then looked down to Leyla. "I like you too, little one." he said, smiling as he took a seat with the infant. "So....little Leyla....how do you eat?" he asked, gauging the situation before he started teaching.

"Damn Azoulais..." Zee corrected his complaint with ease. His eyes widened and he stared at his fiancee. "Do you think he would?" he asked. "I don't really like the idea of Leyla being away from me so soon, though..." That and he didn't exactly trust the fae. "I suppose he could... If you keep an eye on him and make sure he doesn't mess up."
"But she's younger," Loki pointed out in turn. "Be nice. She probably doesn't know what pets are, even."
Leyla stuck her tongue out at Aesica, before she turned her attention back to Matthias. She opened her mouth, and with a finger, pointed to her fangs. "I bite," she explained, rather vaguely. "You don't smell like good eating, though. Red stuff too old. Father is good eating. I like him best."
Devin let go of Milo after some consideration. "We be friendth?" he asked hopefully. Now that Milo was bigger, it made him potentially dangerous.

"Of course he would." Stasia said, nodding and smiling. "I promise I'll keep an eye on Matth and help him take care of the little cutie." She rested her head against him, smiling. "Matth's good with kids. He raised me, after all, and I turned out perfectly fine."
Aesica sighed. "Well, if she doesn't know, it shouldn't bother her." she pointed out, crossing her arms. She reached out towards Leyla again, giving a silent hiss as the adult moved away to sit down. Curse the tall one, curse him!
Matthias nodded, listening. "You should feed on others; your father needs time to recuperate." he suggested, smiling. He tried not to chuckle at the infant's comment. "Perhaps your siblings or Stasia would be acceptable for the time being?"
Milo thought a moment. Friends, no. But....a minion could be useful. Someone to help him and do his bidding. "Alright." the boy said, his tone smooth as silk and sweet as honey as he smiled at the boy, kneeling down to his level. "I'm sorry about calling you a smurf, Devin."

Zee silently thought that he didn't want Leyla to end up like Stasia, but he didn't say anything lest he hurt his fiancee's feelings. "Alright," he agreed. "Just for a few mights though. He can't keep her. She's mine." He put an arm around her. "He knows how she eats, then?" he asked.
"But I'm your pet," Loki reminded Aesica. "Do you really need more?"
Leyla made a face. "Siblings don't taste very good," she complained. Then she seemed to notice Milo for the first time. She reached out a hand to him, ignoring the other boy. Devin made too much noise; and he didn't taste very nice either.
Devin smiled and gave Milo a hug. "It okay! I thorry I hit you, Milo. That not very nice."

Stasia nodded, smiling and hugging her fiance. Oh, that was such a smart move, not voicing that opinion. The half-elf would have hit him. "If he doesn't, he'll figure it out." she said, shrugging. "So, how does she eat?"
Aesica looked up at him, smiling. "I like pets. I have some, going to get more." she said, shrugging. "You favorite, though." she assured him, reaching up to pat his cheek.
Milo smirked, patting Devin. "It's okay." he said, chuckling. He then turned, looking to the little blue girl. "So, this is the baby?" he asked, leaning in to get a good look at the girl.

Zee was silent for a moment, before moving his silver hair with a hand. Several tiny vampire-like-bites adorned his neck. "Like that," he said. "That's why I had to be put on the blood drip," he added with a shrug. "Remember? We couldn't figure out why. Now we know."
"I see," Loki said, smiling at the idea of being the infant's favorite. "You're my favorite too--not pet, though. You're too good to be a pet." Looked like someone was still hopeful. Oh dear.
"That'th Leyla," Devi said, standing on his tiptoes to see her. "Thee keep Daddy up all night and make him grumpy! We thtill luv her, though."
Leyla moved so she could view Milo, and gave the older boy a smile before reaching for him. "Mine," she said. He looked like a good person to have around. "Up please?"
