Valtiel had spent some time with the flock of harpies now, and was coming to a sort of grudging understand with the flock of voraciously violent mares. He was everything they wanted him to be. Subservient, yes. Quiet, yes. Demure, yes. He retained his true self but tucked it away, behind lock and key; perhaps it would never be seen again.
Valtiel had spent considerable time with the Oracle, considering that the mare who had captured him had left him unclaimed. He was a bit bitter about that. Despite the fact she had captured him and enslaved him, the fact was simple. She had left him alone with her flock of sisters, to fend for himself.
Despite being unable to fly away, unable to speak freely, and incapable of fighting back- Valtiel thought he was doing quite alright.

Aylin walked the herd grounds, listening to the conversations of the sisters and spirits alike. Her time here would soon be coming to an end and she would make her journey back to their now abandoned home. She had told her Queen she would stay long enough to see the sisters settle, then she must get back before the spirits got upset.
Continuing her walk, Aylin laid golden eyes upon Valtiel. So far, he had been the most social of the stallions his sister had brought home. He seemed... not really eager, but willing, to please the flock.
She stopped short of the stallion, "Valtiel, how does the day greet you?" she inquired with a smile. She had taken a fancy to this stallion, he so far, seemed to be one that she could carry intelligent conversation with.

Valtiel dipped his head low in an honorable, respectful greeting to the flock's Oracle. She was a wise mare, intelligent and insightful. Valtiel had spent little time conversing with her, but found her to be the /most/ pleasant of all the Harpies. That wasn't saying much; he had been restricted from contact with most of the mares of the flock by his captress.
"The day greets me with a warm smile, Oracle," he replied with a jerk of his head towards the bright sun rising into the clear, blue skies- hardly a hint of a wispy, white cloud to mar the air. "I hope it greets you as warmly, mistress," he went on, genuinely conveying his well wishes to the mare.

"Thus far it has, the spirits are quiet for the time being," she rose her head and looked around the herd. It seemed as though they were all settling in quite well.
"Are you from these lands, Valtiel?" she knew he had been a traveler, but she wanted to inquire about the other creatures in this region. She needed to be as knowledgeable as she could to help protect her sisters. "What dangers lie here?"
