If it weren't for the fact that he had a troublesome toddler clamoring to get out of the house and head to the fountain square downtown, Coda S'varre would have never set foot outside of the house. The Polar Bear shifter was utterly miserable right about now, sweltering in heat. Hey! His kind was from the ARCTIC temperatures, and here he was in 95 degree weather, in tanktop and shorts, watching a far too energetic, half-naked, barefoot toddler running into water that Coda assumed was FAR too warm. What was up with this kid?

Delian, unlike his currently miserable guardian, was enjoying the heat. Although the little tyke really had not too much of a recollection of his past life, the prior nature of himself, the Criminal, had been from a home world of flames and heat. This was nothing, and so, soaking himself by running through the spouts of water that came up through the ground, he was just having a grand old time. His dolly was clutched in one hand, and the petite tot loved the brilliant plan he'd come up with. It was the day to have fun, and play,
"Coda! Come play with me an' Dolly!" When he saw the other shake his head, the brunette's face fell into a pout.

What fun was a day out if Coda wouldn't play right?

Switch was by no means special. There was no species-related reason to hate the heat, especially as a regular Human. But she did hate it, because it was hot. Too hot for her own skin, and her clothes and hair stuck to her, and she just felt...gross. So very gross. It made her miserable, but even more than that, it made the toddler in her arms even more miserable. Well, more so than usual. He was unbearable in good weather, but he was even worse in the heat!

They were on their way home from a shopping trip when Switch spotted the fountain...not only that but the happily playing toddler in the fountain. Ugh, so much energy just made her feel warmer. Still, the water looked wonderful...and recalling how great swimming had felt, she decided to give it a shot.

"Now remember, play nice." She warned the grouchy looking thing that sat on her hip, who stared at her with the narrowed eyes that pretty much stated 'I promise nothing and you're a ******** idiot to expect otherwise'. Tek was pretty good with looks like these.

After taking off her sandals and setting them aside and doing the same for Tek, she sat on the ledge and put her feet in the water, holding the grumpy child so his feet were in the water as well.

"This weather sucks." She commented idly to the poor overheated chap beside her.

Coda noticed Swift when she was heading his way, mainly for the grumpy child in her arms. Blinking his icy eyes, he tipped his head, studying the wings, ears and....Oh s**t. He glanced over at Delian, breathing a sigh of relief as he noticed the tot too busy giving Dolly a shower to notice the tail on the other child. Giving the other a sympathetic, albeit slightly tired, look, he said,
"Yeah. Seriously. I hate the heat..." Cute polar bear ears tucked themselves back, white on white, as he looked out at the little one he was only sometimes proud to call his.

Where Coda was wrong was in the fact that Delian hadn't noticed the tail. Tails were a thing of fascination for the young child. God only knew why. So when he saw wings, ears, and a beautiful fluffy tail, he paused in his showering of his precious Dolly to stare at the youngling. A slow, calculating grin formed on the tot's face and he wiggled, much like a cat getting ready to pounce. Within a moment, he and Dolly had run at the child, shouting,
"TAILLLLL!"
Only to be stopped by a hand on his chest by his guardian, the blue marking turning red as he was smacked, and Coda lifted him, away from the pretty tail. Crying out, Delian reached for Tek, pouting, holding out his favourite (currently soaked) golden haired doll towards the other, making her hands wave.

Sighing, Coda grinned at Switch,
"I kinda expected him to do that...." A chuckle passed his lips as the tot squirmed and complained,
"For some weird reason...Delly seems to have a fascination with tails. Introduce yourself, Del." That distracted him. Coda was going to let him introduce himself?! That was a first! Proudly, the little tot held up a few fingers, and proudly stated,
"I'm Delian! And I'm DIS many!"

"You certainly look like someone who prefers the cold." Switch commented, her sympathies over his having to deal with the heat clearly expressed in her tone. Those ears were absolutely adorable, though! "What brings you out...to..." She trailed off upon hearing the rather loud cry from the toddler, who was now running towards them.

But Tek had been watching him from the beginning, and the moment the stupid-looking boy started screaming for his tail, his furry ears flattened against his skull and his eyes narrowed even more, lips curling into a rather nasty snarl. He growled loudly in warning and raised his mismatched wings to make himself look bigger, everything about him just screaming 'I ******** dare you'.

Luckily enough, the screaming toddler was stopped, and for a moment Tek snorted at the other boy's apparent Guardian. You expected that? You should have done something then, you retarded bear! Tek's thoughts were luckily never vocalized...how could he? He didn't have a grasp on how to work his vocal cords just yet. Stupid baby body. Of course, he went right back to snarling at the other boy, making sure that both the boy and the boy's wet doll stayed well enough away.

"Oh, well Hello Delian! It's very nice to meet you...and wow, so old!" Switch teased with a grin, unable to reprimand her grumpy little monster due to the way she was holding him so he could pretend to stand. "My name is Switch, and this little brat is Tek. Say Hi, Tek!"

Tek just growled a little louder, and Switch sighed.
